Meet Squirrel!! He is believed to be 3.5 years of age Corgi JRT mix. Who has overcome so much already including parvo and distemper. Oh boy has he been a very slow progress project dog.He came to us spring of 2016 after his receiving rescue who pulled him from TEXAS refuse to take owner ship of the 5 dogs due to fearful behaviors presented upon intake. Since, his whole family of 5 dogs all adopted except him. He is still making steady continue process. Squirrel is extremely sweet but lacks confidence and social skills, when it come to moving forward with change. He can easily become unsure and any confidence plummets when his fear is trigger causing anxiety and unwillingness to try. He freezes in fear but that has becoming a thing from the past. We keep pushing him until he realizes there is no need to fear anything, anyone, or place. Squirrel is amazing with dogs and fact is they are crucial for his continued progress. Squirrel thrives in a pack. He continues to learn from them. Squirrel is cat friendly too and would do just fine with older mature kids who will nurture him and push him a bit more out of his comfort zone. A fenced in yard is a must, experience with dogs like him preferred, a balance pack needed. Squirrel is very food, praise, affection motivated and requires persistence paired with nurturing without pity. He needs a calm, assertive, compassionate, nurturer leader. Squirrel is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped, neutered, and on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention. Meet Wabbit! He is believed to be a 4 year old Corgi Jack Russell mutt mix. He is just under 25 pounds. Wabbit is a special needs dog, he is epileptic and requires medication 3x a day. His seizures are controlled very well with his medication. Without his medication his seizures become continuous clusters. You see Wabbit was a distemper survivor pup, which caused the damage to his central nervous system causing him to become epileptic. Wabbit is a sweet boy who thrives to be independent. He never barks, ever. He loves to walk but if we prefer to hold him he won’t complain unless he wants to walk. He snuggles and cuddles and thrives in nurturing hands while still maintaining his independence. Wabbit is very low key, very simple, calm, lazy, independent dog. He can be a lap dog, when he wants to. As long as he is cared for, given his med's on time, and has other dogs he is happy and healthy, Wabbits epilepsy is finally under control and any potential adopters must discuss this with their vet in depth, we prefer an experienced adopter. Wabbit is on: 250mg 3x a day Phenobarbital 97.2 m 3x a day Potassium bromide 500mg daily split tab 2x a day And other supplements. Truly as long as his seizures remain in control he is a very easy dog and takes his meds like a champ. Wabbit does require specific food with rosemary extract free. Meet Pete! Pete is a wild child puppy with all the great (and some not so great) characteristics of a corgi in a smaller size. He is an active puppy who takes his zoomies, chasing, and herding seriously. He will happily keep every ankle, pant leg, broom, and mop in his home in line without batting an eyelash. When he is not getting into shenanigans, he is snuggling on a dog bed, snoozing on your lap, and curling up with one of his dog friends. Pete is full of personality, and while he is sure to keep his new owner wildly entertained, he will need to make sure his socialization and training are taken seriously so he can be the best version of himself as he grows. Pete is a social puppy who has never met a stranger, and has been around dogs of various sizes. Because he does like to play decently rough, any new dog friends will need to be patient and fair, but one who will show him how to play correctly. He is working on potty training, but has done very well with crate training. Pete has not been around cats but does have a high prey drive, and is unfortunately too mouthy to be around young children. Pete is currently just under 4 months old. Bruno a 1 year old corgi/aussie mix, he is an amazing dog with humans and kids. He is absolutely the sweetest but has not gotten along well with the other dog in our home. I think with some discipline he would be able to get along with another pet but we unfortunately work too much to be able to cater to his needs. He loves to play outside and is a cuddler!

Story
Laszlo & Cassidy are a bonded pair and are volunteer favorites! Laszlo is a 5-year-old Corgi mix who weighs about 20 lbs. Cassidy is a 3-year-old terrier mix who weighs about 40 lbs. This duo will have your ribs hurting as you laugh at the fun when they are wrestling, playing chase and doing zoomies around the yard. Cassidy is a social butterfly and is always the first one to greet people at Waldo's Dog Dorm. She just thrives on attention and wants tons of loving. She's a very active girl who needs plenty of room to run. Cassidy loves toys and is fabulous with all other dogs and people. She was dumped at a kill shelter which is where we saved her. We have found that she becomes very anxious and fearful around children younger than 10 years of age; this has led us to believe that in her original home there were young children who didn't respect her space and pulled her fur/tail and traumatized her which is likely the reason for her being left at the shelter. Laszlo was a stray who survived at the Morgan County Fairgrounds from the time he was 6 months old until he was finally trapped at 18 months. He was totally feral when we got him and avoided people at all costs. However, this wonderful boy has learned that chest rubs and ear scratches are heavenly; Laszlo won't take treats until he is massaged and scratched; touch is his "love language" ... he craves it more than treats. Laszlo does still need continued rehabilitation after the trauma he experienced during his first year and a half of life. A quiet, loving, patient home with few visitors will be necessary for him. Because of his experience of having long choke tethers on the end of metal poles on him by animal control officers, he is still very fearful of leashes/harnesses. We will provide training techniques to whoever adopts him to help with this, but it's doubtful that her will ever be comfortable taking walks on a leash due to this past trauma. Both of these dogs have so much love to give. What you invest in them in time and love will be returned in spades! Their playfulness along with their love of being massaged & rubbed make them such wonderful family members who will bring smiles and joy to whoever adopts them. Their perfect home will have a VERY SECURE fenced-in yard, no children under 16; as well as a calm, peaceful environment with experienced dog owners who provide positive reinforcement and lots of praise. Whoever adopts Laszlo and Cassidy will be very lucky indeed! The adoption fee for the pair is $325; both are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and kept on year-round heartworm/flea preventative.

Meet Rocky! He is believed to be a mix of Corgi, Aussie, and PomChi. At 9 months old, he hasn't had much exposure to many people, which has made him a bit timid at first. With a little time and patience, he reveals his true personality. Rocky is known to be good with cats, dogs, older children, and the elderly. He is working on being house-trained and enjoys traveling. However, like many dogs, he can be a little sensitive during nail trims. We recommend a calm home environment with a consistent schedule and children aged 12 and older, as he can get overstimulated by loud noises and a lot of movement. ADOPTION FEE: LOCAL $100 NON-LOCAL $140 All dogs receive at least 1 distemper/parvo and Bordetella vaccine. If possible a heartworm test will be done and if negative the dog will be started on heartworm prevention. All animals receive a flea and parasite prevention/treatment and will be microchipped. All animals can go home the same day as adoption. We will need your photo ID and you will sign some documents. Adopters will also receive a copy of the animal's medical history to date. We do not do an application process. All adoptions are first come, first serve. We do not offer holds. We do not require in most cases that adopters bring all their families members and dogs for a meet and greet. But we do highly encourage it. We are happy to introduce the new dog to your dog(s) at the shelter. No appointment necessary. We do offer home trials of dogs over 6 months of age for about a week. You will not need to pay the adoption fee (spay neuter deposit) ahead of time, but if you decide to adopt you will need to return to the shelter to complete the paperwork and pay the adoption deposit. If you do not wish to complete the adoption, you can bring the dog back at any time during normal business hours during your home trial period. We do not allow after hours drop off.
