Story
Meet Echo! Echo is a young Corgi with a playful spirit and a whole lot of personality! At around 20 pounds and an estimated 12 years old, she's ready to leave her past behind and find an active family to call her own. Echo came to us after her previous owner realized apartment living and spending much of the day in a kennel wasn't the life she deserved. Now that she's in foster care, she's making up for lost time! She loves getting outside, running around, and enjoying the freedom to be a dog. Echo does well with other dogs and currently coexists nicely with them. She has attended daycare and is doing great, enjoying the opportunity to socialize and burn off some energy. When she plays, she can be a little vocal and makes playful growling noises, which is simply part of her play style but can surprise dogs that aren't used to it. Like many young dogs, Echo is still learning her manners. She can be a little mouthy during play, so she'll do best with a family that is willing to continue her training and help her learn appropriate ways to channel her excitement. Because of this, we think she'd be happiest in a home with older children or adults who understand that she's still a young dog learning the ropes. Echo is looking for a family that will give her the exercise, structure, and love she's been missing. With continued guidance, plenty of playtime, and lots of positive reinforcement, we know she's going to make an incredible companion. If you're looking for a fun, active dog who will happily join you on walks, adventures, and playtime in the yard, Echo may be your perfect match. FEMALE Basics: She is a spayed female guessed to be around 1-2 yrs old and she weighs close to 20lbs. She is currently in a foster home in Kansas City with 4 other small dogs, an 8 yr old boy and two adults Adoption Process: - Please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application - One of our team members will get back to you via phone. - Our dogs can be seen by appointment only. We do not have a facility at this time. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding - Adoption fee is $560 and helps to cover spay/neuter, vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip. -We do not place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt. NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available. About Day of the Dogs Day of the Dogs is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping shelter and rescue dogs find safety, families, and second chances. Founded in 2015 by a Kansas City native, Day of the Dogs began after Pam moved to Houston, Texas and witnessed firsthand the devastating shelter overcrowding crisis facing southern communities, where some shelters have only days to find an outcome for homeless pets. Today, Day of the Dogs coordinates life-saving transports from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other southern areas to rescue partners, shelters, fosters, and adopters in Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland and the Kansas City region — communities where adoption demand can help create better outcomes for pets in need. We also focus on long stay dogs in the Greater Kansas City and surrounding rural areas to help those pets get out of kennels and into homes. We also facilitate direct adoptions through our foster networks in both Kansas City and Northwest Indiana and partner with shelters and rescue organizations across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana to save more lives together. Because every open foster home creates another opportunity to save a dog, we are always looking for foster families to join our mission. Day of the Dogs operates entirely on donations. Every transport, veterinary appointment, supply purchase, and life saved is possible because of supporters who believe every dog deserves a chance. Donate or learn more: www.dayofthedogs.org
