Hi, future family 🧡 My name is Nut, and I’m a 1-year-old boy with a round little body, short legs, and a face that makes people smile the moment they see me. I’m about 10kg, and people say I look like a mix of Shiba Inu, Welsh Corgi, and Jindo. Somehow, I got the best parts of all three — a bright Shiba face, the gentle charm of a Jindo, and tiny Corgi legs that wiggle along when I walk. Apparently, the way I toddle toward people is “extremely cute.” I hear that a lot. But before I got this second chance, my story was almost over. I was rescued from a city shelter just before euthanasia. If help had come any later, I wouldn’t be here today writing this to you. Even though my past was difficult, I still love people very much. I never stopped hoping someone kind would choose me. I’m actually pretty friendly when meeting new people. I like staying close to humans, and if you look at me or talk to me, my tail starts wagging almost immediately. I really enjoy attention, affection, and simply being near the people I love. I also get along well with other dogs and enjoy running around or relaxing beside dog friends. I do have one funny little habit though… Sometimes I get a tiny bit jealous. If another dog is getting all the attention, I might quietly squeeze my way in or try to remind everyone, “Hey… I’m here too!” But it’s not aggressive at all — it’s more like a little kid asking not to be forgotten. Honestly, I just love people so much that I want to be included in the love too. There’s something important I hope you understand about me: Living in a real home will be completely new for me. I’ve spent my life in shelter environments, so things like house routines, walking politely on leash, waiting alone, potty habits, and understanding family life are all things I’m still learning. At first, I might make mistakes, get overly curious, feel nervous in a new place, or show lots of puppy energy. But that doesn’t mean I’m a “bad” dog — it just means I’ve never truly had the chance to learn what family life feels like. Rescue dogs like me sometimes need time to adjust. For the first few days or weeks, I may seem shy, overwhelmed, or different from what you expected. New environments can feel scary at first. But if you stay patient and give me time, I promise I’ll slowly begin to relax, trust, and show you more and more of my real personality. And I think… my real personality is pretty lovable. I’m the little dog who trots after you on short legs. The one who looks at you with bright eyes whenever you call my name. The one who simply wants to be loved and included in your life. Meet Bokdong — A Gentle, Special Boy Looking for His Forever Home   Name: Bokdong Age: 1 year old Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Mixed Breed Color: Gray/Brown Weight: 9 kg (20 lbs) Height: 34 cm (13.4 in) at the shoulder   RESCUE STORY Bokdong was rescued on April 23 from an animal hoarding situation along with his mother, Boksun, and other dogs. Despite everything he has been through at such a young age, he is a calm and gentle little boy.   MEDICAL HISTORY & SPECIAL NEEDS Veterinary examinations indicate that Bokdong has significant vision and hearing impairment. He appears to have some response to light, but for practical purposes, he should be considered visually impaired. Although he was also assessed as having hearing loss, he will occasionally bark in response to sounds outside.   Bokdong was also born with/developed an angular limb deformity in his front legs and has undergone corrective orthopedic surgery.   Bokdong’s surgery was performed to correct the abnormal bone angle, reduce uneven stress on his joints, and help minimize future pain, lameness, and progression of arthritis.   Despite his special needs, Bokdong has adapted well and enjoys a quiet, peaceful life.   ‍ WITH PEOPLE Because Bokdong cannot see normally, he does not immediately approach unfamiliar people and may startle if touched unexpectedly. Giving him a moment to realize someone is there makes a big difference.   Treats are a wonderful way to win him over! Once he becomes familiar with someone, he accepts affection and handling well. He can also be safely picked up with an arm supporting him under his belly.   WITH OTHER DOGS Bokdong will approach unfamiliar dogs to say hello but generally has little interest in playing with them. He occasionally responds when his littermate, Kkami, initiates play.   He is very non-confrontational and tends to move away rather than react if another dog bothers or challenges him. Overall, he is quite independent around other dogs and is perfectly happy simply sharing space with them.   WITH CATS Bokdong has not yet been observed around cats. Cat testing can be arranged if needed.   ENERGY LEVEL Low energy. Bokdong is naturally calm and loves relaxing and resting. He would likely thrive in a peaceful home where life is relatively predictable and he can learn his surroundings at his own pace.   WALKS Because of his limited vision, unfamiliar routes can initially make Bokdong nervous. Once he becomes familiar with a route, however, he walks much more confidently.   If he becomes frightened or uncertain, he may stop and resist being pulled forward. He will do best with a patient adopter who allows him time to understand and become comfortable with new surroundings.   OTHER BEHAVIOURS • No food guarding with people or other dogs • Occasionally barks when he hears or senses something outside • May occasionally demand-bark when he wants something • Can become anxious when first placed in a kennel and may howl quite a bit initially, but settles with time • Primarily goes potty outdoors   IDEAL HOME Bokdong doesn’t need anyone to feel sorry for him — he needs someone who understands that he experiences the world a little differently.   A calm, patient adopter who can give him consistency, gently introduce him to new environments, and allow him time to memorize his home and walking routes would be ideal. My name is Lucas, and I’m a 4-year-old male Jack Russell Terrier × Welsh mix weighing around 10kg. I have a compact, sturdy body — but my short little legs are what everyone notices first. People often say I look extra adorable when I walk, and I think it’s because every step I take naturally makes people smile. 😊 For a long time, I lived in a shelter. I was rescued just before euthanasia, and since then I’ve been given a second chance at life. Now I’m staying in a training facility where I’m slowly learning what the world is like outside the shelter. Everything still feels new to me — other dogs playing freely, interesting smells on walks, toys, and especially kind human attention. It’s almost like I’m finally experiencing what it means to just be a dog. Because I’m discovering so much for the first time, I get very curious about everything around me. But there are also things I still need help understanding. Sometimes, if a hand suddenly reaches over my head or someone touches me unexpectedly, I can get scared and react defensively. In those moments, it may look like I’m trying to bite, but it’s really just fear — a way for me to protect myself when I feel unsure. When people take time to approach me gently, that behavior becomes much less, and my true personality starts to show. Because deep down… I’m actually a very sweet and affectionate boy. 💛 I just need time. What I need most is not quick bonding, but patience and understanding. If you let me come to you at my own pace instead of forcing touch or rushing interactions, I will slowly begin to trust you. It helps a lot when people approach me from the side or below rather than reaching over my head, and when they use calm voices and positive experiences to help me feel safe. Once I trust someone, I become a completely different dog — I love attention, I follow my person around, and I show a very affectionate and playful side. A house, daily routines, leash walking in neighborhoods, being alone for short periods, and house training — all of these are still new to me. At first, I may feel nervous or make mistakes, but that’s not bad behavior. It’s just me learning how to live in a home. What helps me grow is guidance, not punishment. With a stable routine, regular walks, and positive reinforcement, I can gradually build confidence and feel more secure. I’m smart and curious, and with the right support, I learn step by step at my own pace. In the beginning, it’s really important for me to have a calm environment and not too much overwhelming stimulation. If I’m given space and time to feel safe, I will slowly open my heart. And when I do, I will stay by your side with all my loyalty and love. I may not be the easiest dog at first, but I promise I have a heart that is ready to love deeply once I feel safe.
