Penny is a happy, affectionate girl who seems genuinely grateful to have people to hang out with. She loves being close to her humans and is perfectly content sitting on a lap, relaxing nearby while you work, or settling in for a cozy evening. She has been doing wonderfully in her foster home! Penny sleeps through the night in her crate; the first few nights she barked a bit, but now is a pro. She has shown no destructive behavior and appears to be house-trained, with just one potty accident so far. She also has good manners in the house and is gradually being given more freedom as her foster family learns her personality. Penny enjoys going for walks, although she likes to make her own decisions about the pace! Sometimes she walks quickly, sometimes slowly, and sometimes she stops completely to take in the sights. She gets excited when she sees other dogs out on walks and seems eager to say hello rather than showing any aggression. She also does well with her foster family's large Lab mix, and the two mostly just ignore each other. People are Penny's favorite. She has been incredibly friendly with everyone she's met and isn't timid with new people. She even met the neighborhood kids and was happily sitting in their laps within minutes! Her foster family thinks she could be a wonderful companion for a wide range of people, from families with kids to older adults. Penny loves to play her own version of fetch with her beloved Lamb Chop toy, enjoys chewing on a deer antler, and is always ready for a walk or an adventure. When playtime is over, she settles down beautifully. She doesn't seem to know many commands yet, but she's showing us more of her personality every day. She's a silly, happy girl with a lot of love to give. And don't be surprised if you catch her sleeping on her back, snoring away, with her little tail happily wagging; it's pretty adorable! Penny is ready to find someone who will appreciate her sweet personality, silly antics, and love of simply being with her people. Penny has an adoption investment of $500. Penny's higher adoption investment does not mean we value her life more than others. We do not see dogs like Penny enter our care very often. Therefore, her higher adoption investment will help create a financial legacy for the dogs that stay in our care for longer periods of time or require significant medical investment.
