Everyone meet ARIANA! **NEEDS: a confident, dog friend already in the home to help show her the ropes as well as a secured, fenced in yard **If you've applied for Nova or Kenji, please know that we also considered you for ARIANA or the others in our program & if you didn't hear back, we didn't feel it was a good match. No need to reapply. **Be sure to go to our Facebook & read/watch this post before applying: (look for the post with the red‼️) https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Bj9vWLY2J/? ARIANA is a 1-year-old, 10 lb Shih Tzu mix that came from an overpopulated hobby breeder in crisis that had passed. She has been spayed, heartworm negative, current on her vaccines & chipped. SHE has a lot to say BUT her bark is adorable & very muted as she sounds a little like a chicken. Most dogs in that environment are unsocialized to new people/new things & can be very unsure & timid. ARIANA will need a very patient adopter that will give her time to acclimate to her new world as she may be very skittish & stand offish those first few days/weeks. She is a flight risk so will need a home that has a secured, fenced in yard. She needs work on trust, potty training, & leash walking. Interested in ARIANA& feel you have what it takes to give this special girl the love & patience to teach her that that the world can be not so scary with you by her side? Definitely fill out an application to be considered. Also Our adoption radius is 150 miles from Jacksonville, FL. All other pets in the home must be current on their vaccines, spayed/neutered & on heartworm prevention.

Story
Emma is a precious, 13 year old, 11 pound, blind Shih Tzu mix who needs someone who won't fail her like 2 others (that we know of) in her past. Someone who will take her to the vet for her eye drops & regular care. Someone who will be her eyes & keep her safe. She quickly maps out the house & learns where the door is to go outside. She absolutely loves poping out of the sliding glass door on her own & heading to the grassy areas to do her business & then basking in the sun on the patio, eventually hopping back in to grab a quick drink & find her bed. You will occasionally hear her bark which usually means either it's time to eat or she is looking for you to hold her. She absolutely loves being able to cuddle as you keep her safe because she forgets she is blind. We found her on the couch one day & realized she knew how to use the steps so those had to be moved. Emma came to us in 2021 from our city shelter after being turned in as a stray. She was quickly adopted a mont. Fast forward 4 years, the adopter called & needed to surrender her back due to moving into a place that didn't allow dogs. Assuring me that I could have a couple of weeks as I was loaded down with dogs & it wasn't a safe environment & was told yes. THE NEXT DAY, our city shelter called me to let me know "someone found a stray that was chipped to me". Emma was being dumped. After pulling the vet records, she was barely taken, only getting her eye drops for dry eye once in those 4 years. Now blind along with 3 cystic masses, one that was bulging just above her eye, we quickly addressed/removed them as well as gave her a much-needed dental. Do you have a heart for seniors? One who needs a safe home to mosey around? One where she can live out the remainder of her life; loved & cared for? Someone that will hold her, rock her, sing to her & let her know that although she can't see, her world is bright, beautiful & filled with love? Definitely fill out an application to be considered. Our adoption radius is 150 miles from Jacksonville, FL. All other pets in the home must be current on their vaccines, spayed/neutered & on heartworm prevention.

VINCA is a 1-year-old, 6 lb Shih Tzu mix that came from an overpopulated hobby breeder in crisis that had passed. She has been spayed, heartworm negative, current on her vaccines & chipped. Did you watch that video on our Facebook page? She is the climber. She is THE most fearful of the girls & will run, hide & do whatever she can to get away from you. BUT with patience & almost 6 weeks, did you see that picture of her with her foster mama? She climbs up on the couch just to snuggle with her (although she is still very scared of foster dad - but only because he works all of the time.) Most dogs in that environment are unsocialized to new people/new things & can be very unsure & timid. VINCA will need a very patient adopter that will give her time to acclimate to her new world as she may be very skittish & stand offish those first few days/weeks. She is a HUGE flight risk so will need a home that has a secured, fenced in yard. She needs work on trust, potty training, & leash walking. A home without kids is recommended because tiny humans are scary plus they also open doors where she can escape out. Interested in VINCA & feel you have what it takes to give this special girl the love & patience to teach her that that the world can be not so scary with you by her side? Definitely fill out an application to be considered. Also Our adoption radius is 150 miles from Jacksonville, FL.
