Meet Savannah Sweet. Resilient. Full of love. Savannah is a gentle, joyful soul who adores cuddles, playtime, and sunshine on her face. She’s great with other dogs, potty trained, and always comes when called—because being close to you is her favorite thing. Though she came to us with an injured foot, she’s thriving. A simple morning bootie routine is all she needs to take on the day with her signature happy trot. Her separation anxiety has improved, and her little heart is wide open. Story
Meet Connie! This sweet little senior is a 10-year-old, 12 lb Shih Tzu with a loving demeanor and a heart full of affection. Don’t let her age fool you—Connie still has plenty of pep in her step and a nice medium energy level. This friendly girl is eager to meet new people and loves spending time with her foster fur sibling. She's become more confident and playful each day and is showing more of her curious, spirited side each day. She's fully potty trained and knows several commands like 'sit', 'stay', 'off', and 'go potty'. Connie loves affection and will gently tap you with her paw when she's in the mood for some love. She’s the perfect addition for someone looking for a low-maintenance, sweet, and smart pup. Connie will require a dental soon to keep her feeling her best, and it will be covered by Wags and Walks. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a deserving senior with so much love to give, consider Connie!

Story
"Hope is a funny and friendly girl who is on the hunt for a loving retirement home. This smart senior is affectionate and loves to lounge on the couch - can you picture her curled up next to you? She would be the perfect addition to a home where she can spend her golden years being petted and adored. Due to her age and temperament, Hope is best suited to a home without dogs or cats, as she prefers to be the center of attention. She's a quirky girl who warms up quickly and will be your best friend in no time. This little cutie was found tied to a pole on a street corner in Los Angeles on Figueroa covered in hundreds of ticks. She needed a complete dental and to have teeth pulled when we took her to the vet for the works. She is good with other dogs but will not share her food at alll. If you're looking for a sweet and funny companion, Hope is the one for you! (Bonus points if you're a senior yourself, as she loves the company of people her own age)" she will use the bathroom outside and has perfect aim to pee on the potty pads but doesn't poop on them. If you would like to give her a home please text 714-882-9865 and complete the application online at www.rescuemepets.com/forms

Story
Skipper is a resilient little pup who’s bounced back from a leg fracture like a champ. He recently had surgery but is healing beautifully, and it hasn’t slowed down his sweet spirit one bit. Right now, his favorite activities include lounging on his cozy bed, playing with toys, and snuggling up for a TV binge session. He’s affectionate, loves being near his people, and will happily follow you around the house with his curious puppy eyes. This little guy is crate trained (he sleeps soundly in his crate at night) and is almost fully pee pad trained—smart and learning fast! He hasn’t had much exposure to other animals yet, and he’s still on restricted activity while his leg heals, so walks and doggie meetups are still in his future. But he's calm and well-behaved when home alone for a few hours and has been great with the few people he’s met so far. Skipper is still a blank slate when it comes to commands, but with his eagerness to please, he’s ready to learn and grow with a patient, loving adopter. Once he’s fully healed, we expect more of that puppy energy to come out—and he’ll be ready for more adventures! Skipper is looking for a forever home that can continue to help him recover and give him the love, training, and cuddles he deserves. If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and snuggly new best friend, Skipper is your guy. 💙

Story
Hi I'm tinkerbell! Nice to meet you! I'm a darling little granny havanese/shih Tzu mix-best guess? a little bit of hearing and sight impairment but definitely does not deter me from anything! I'm a foodie, love to be cozy, and also enjoy short walks as well as walks in the stroller! I love being around people and enjoying the finer things in life. Wanna be my best friend and enjoy the golden years together? please note All of our dogs are in private foster homes. Once you fill out an application it will be screened by our volunteer adoption team. From there, if your application looks like a good fit for the particular dog, it will be sent to the foster where you can ask all the questions you would like and schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs. If you apply from out of state we do request you come to Los Angeles to meet us and fly home in cabin or drive. www.apurposefulrescue.org

PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET OBIE…formerly Tobey in his previous home. This precious little 8.5 lb (underweight), 4-5 yr old, tan/white with black tips, Shih Tzu is a sweetheart. He was surrendered because his original parents moved internationally and the niece they gave him to (who had never had a dog) is also leaving the U.S. So, that left Obie homeless 🙁 Obie could not be sweeter if he tried, but he was a little confused why he was here 🙁 This little man looks like a puppy, but his teeth were a mess so we got him a dental while he was being neutered. We believe he is between 4-5 yrs. Vet thought younger!! He was soooooo skinny when he arrived and could still gain a pound or two or three! He has good energy. great appetite, loves to give kisses, enjoys playing with toys and would love a companion to hang out with. Obie does have a slight case of separation anxiety, but he does eventually settle down. He really needs a wing person to be his best self. That ‘winger’ could be a dog or a cat, as he loves both….but he would honestly love one or the other, and you!! While we never guarantee any of our pups are potty trained, Obie is getting the idea and with a few walks a day should do you proud! He will use a pp pad if one is available. And….he is a great eater! Obie is great on walks and he loves meeting people, dogs and children while strolling! However, he can be a little fearful when encountering a stroller or stranger (same in the home). He settles down pretty quickly. He is very kind and would be great with gentle kids over 8 yrs old. He doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body…unless you are giving another dog more attention than him, and then he just wants everyone to play together! The ideal home will have another dog, a work from home family and a yard so he can be his best self. Does that sound like your home?? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION THIS IS ROCKO…and rock’n’roll Rocky is a superstar!! This gorgeous, 17 lb, 2-3 yr old, tan/white Lhasa Apso is the real deal! Unfortunately, in the past he has landed in the wrong place and hasn’t yet found a family that had the time or appreciation to get this wonderful boy training or give him the attention he needs. He is still a puppy in an adult body! And STILL he is very loving, kissy, playful and happy under the right circumstances! Rocko is a bit on the wild side — but nothing that some patience, time, training won’t solve. When you are walking him, he likes to run circles around you but we are working on “walk straight” and he responds. He is very smart and wants to please. Rocko is not aggressive but he can be snippy when he is surprised. He needs pet parents who understand the breed and will work on his human socialization. He loves to play with other dogs and should have one of his own!! He is very demonstrative in showing you he wants to go for a run…or a hike. He ain’t no couch potato…until he has had a busy day playing, going to the park, going on walks and you tire him out. He wants to explore the world, meet and greet anyone on the street and say hello! The best home for Rocko would be one where there is a yard, so that he can exercise and play with you! Because kids can be frenetic, we think he’d be better off without kids. His vocal manners are pretty good — we had not heard him bark, but once at adoptions, we found he does bark to alert! AND if you take him out on a regular basis, he is pretty good doing his business outside and will use a pp pad if necessary! He has been at doggie playcare, so he might need a refresher course. But, no guarantees at your house! Does Rocko sound like a pup you could “rock’n’roll with? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET HAYLEY AND MATEO….a pair of youngins who will steal your heart! This father and daughter are both brindle, Mateo (11 lbs) is 2 yrs old and Hayley (13 lbs) is a 1 yr old, both Shih Tzu…who originally came from a breeder (we know nothing about them) and given to “someone” who couldn’t care for them. So, she put them up on Next Door! Fortunately, for the dogs and for us, a rescue savvy Good Samaritan reached out, got them and turned them over to us. She said she wanted them to go to the best home. Rescue, especially this rescue, will find that home! Both dogs were intact and needed everything — vaccinations, spay/neuter, hernia — the works! Then, the makeover! They came to us so matted and dirty — but our groomer worked her magic and above is the result! Hayley is 100% puppy! When she kisses you it’s like going through a car wash! She is uber active, loves toys, loves to play and chase her dad around! We have her walking on a leash and so far her potty training skills seem to be pretty good, especially with outside access. Mateo is 100% sweetheart. He is the calmer of the two but to watch them play with each other is a sight to behold. Adorable. He seems to be getting the hang of potty training too — they are both smart and want to please! You can’t help but fall in love with them…they are such good puppies. Plus, they are relatively quiet and don’t seem to have any separation anxiety but they are bonded and love to be with each other. If separated to do a grooming or to the vet…they are fine waiting until the other comes back! The ideal home for this wonderful pair would be a home with a yard for them to play in and exercise, practice their potty training and get some of their energy out! They are so kind and sweet we would love for them to have children (5+ years) to play with. They would be great to go with you to brunch, kids sports events and they can also stay home with each other. They are the best of all worlds — Hayley is a little crazier than her dad…but they are both 1000000% sweet. Do these two sound like they could fit into your home? Let us know! Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Adopting a Coton de Tulear

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Coton de Tulear - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

You can adopt a Coton de Tulear at a much lower cost than buying one from a breeder. The cost to adopt a Coton de Tulear from a shelter or rescue can cost $50 to $300 and typically covers an initial exam, spay/neuter, vaccines, preventatives, and a microchip. In contrast, buying a Coton de Tulear from breeders can be prohibitively expensive. Depending on their breeding, they usually cost $2,000 to $4,000.

The easiest way to adopt a Coton de Tulear is through a rescue that specializes in Coton de Tulears. A great place to start is via a breed search on Adopt a Pet. The search will show you all the Coton de Tulears available in your area.

Coton de Tulear fun facts

Fun Facts:

In the early years of the breed, ownership of Cotons de Tulear by non-nobleman was strictly forbidden on Madagascar, where it became known as "The Royal Dog of Madagascar." Their other moniker? The "anti-stress dog."

Barbara Streisand cloned her beloved pet Coton de Tulear just before she died.

Despite being the official dog of Madagascar for centuries, the Coton de Tulear breed was virtually unknown to the wider world until recently, and they weren't brought to the United States until the mid-1970s.
