Story
Meet Callie our newest resident, a lovely 6-year-old Bichon Frise weighing in at a perfect 14 lbs. While she had a rough start and arrived with extreme matting that required a full shave, she is now clean, comfortable, and ready for her second chance at life!
Her Personality: Right now, Callie is a bit shy as she adjusts to her new surroundings. However, we’ve already seen her "spark"—the moment she sees other dogs, her tail starts wagging! We have no doubt that with a little patience and love, she will blossom into a confident companion.
She allows you to pick her up but since she hasn't been held before she isn't sure where to put her limbs so she will have them going in all directions.
She rides well in the car. She just sits on the passenger seat. You can see her nose sniffing as she takes in the "free smells"
She is a great couch companion. She has watched many football games and movies with our family. If you want a companion for the super bowl here is your girl :)
Health & Wellness: We have taken care of everything so she can head into her forever home healthy! Her $380 adoption fee covers:
Full Spay & Microchip
Rabies & Core Vaccines
Heartworm Testing
Dental: She just had a professional cleaning and 6 teeth removed.
She is a resilient girl who is finally getting the care she deserves. She is ready to meet her forever family!
Adoption Process:
- STEP 1: Please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application
- STEP 2: One of our team members will get back to you via phone.
- Our dogs can be seen by appointment only. We do not have a facility at this time. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding. FYI we are in Kansas City, MO. Petfinder still hasn't update our location from Indiana.
- Adoption fee helps to cover transport costs, spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip.
-We do not place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt. NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available.
About Us: Day of the Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit. Since 2015 we have been dedicated to helping shelters increase live release. We coordinate 2 - 4 transports per month from TX, OK and AR to NW Indiana/Chicagoland and the Kansas City area. We do direct adoptions ourselves out of Kansas City and NW Indiana areas. We also partner with other rescues and shelters in IN, IL, KS and MO that are willing to help southern pets in need. We rely on donations to help fund our ongoing transports. Please donate if you can. Every dollar adds up and we are grateful for any help we can get: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/DayoftheDogs
