Story
Nikki is one pretty little gal! She is also one very lucky girl! She was found by a kind stranger who saw her standing in the road. It was kind of out in the county and there weren’t many houses or people around. Her “finder” kept her for a few days after posting her on Facebook and at the shelter hoping that someone would claim her. But no one ever stepped up for Nikki. Now the shelter is getting her ready to find a new home. Nikki has all of her vaccinations, she has a microchip, and she has been spayed. One little problem did show up on Nikki’s health check up. She is heartworm positive. Nikki is not worried though. She knows the shelter is looking out for her and has her treatment already set up. Nikki is a Dachshund mix that is about a year old. Do you have room for this little gal?

Story
Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description:  Pinto is a one-year old male, only about 25 lbs and we were told Dachshund/Pit.  He is a short-legged boy that is good with female dogs, cats and children.  His owner surrendered him as didn't have enough time for him, then he was adopted and returned as he is a high energy fella and will do best with an active owner as he does love to romp and romp some more.  Loves butt scratches & is super sweet.  Does know how to use a doggy door but is not housetrained.   DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. If we do not receive a timely response we simply move on to another applicant.   To learn more about us, visit our Website at: http://www.elmorehumane.org;  Phone: (334) 567-3377 Fax: (334) 567-8774 E-mail: hselco@bellsouth.net    March 7, 2026, 1:15 pm
