Story
This is Gilbert. We think he is half dachshund and half beagle. He just turned 2 before Christmas. We are very close to having a new baby and Gilbert is causing the wife some acute allergic issues. I hate to lose him, but we have no other options because our family can't help. Gilbert is SPECIAL NEEDS in that he has a neurological issue that affects his depth perception. Other than having issues with going up and down stairs, he's a pretty normal dog. He needs someone that has a stay at home capability because of some separation anxiety we have been working on. He's really good with kids, good around dogs (does get vocal with neighbor dogs), loves to play and cuddle, but needs slow introduction to some men. He is not aggressive at all. Gilbert is potty trained and crate trained and will come with a crate and some toys. I would like a small rehoming fee of $100 to make sure he goes to a good home. Available on the weekend only.

Story
Essie may be small, but she’s bursting with love, energy, and personality. This affectionate little girl adores her people and shows it with plenty of sweet kisses and cuddles. Once she feels comfortable, her playful side shines—she loves to run around, play tug-of-war, and happily chew on her favorite toys. Essie enjoys spending time with other dogs and loves a good play session. She can be a bit timid at first, but she warms up quickly and soon becomes a loyal, people-oriented companion. She’s currently in the early stages of potty training and is learning more every day with consistency and encouragement. With her cuddly nature, playful spirit, and loving heart, Essie is ready to bring joy and affection to her forever home. Essie was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  ##2608382##
