Story
Scout is a typical, handsome mini dachshund. He has random outbursts of energy, followed by several hours of napping until he’s ready to play again! He can’t think of anything better than playing fetch, although eating and sleeping are tied for second place. He will play fetch until you’re tired and then he’ll try to convince you to play just a little more. Scout is 3 years old. He’s potty trained, has nice house manners, is great in his crate, and good on a leash. He’s very athletic and likes to show off his skills. Scout is deaf and is learning to communicate with hand signs. Scout does not love the idea of being around other dogs. He would prefer being the only dog in the home with someone who doesn’t leave him alone all day. We know he’s going to become a loving pup, and to get there he will need someone willing to offer him lots of patience and socialization. He sure would like lots of walks and lots of fetch. No young kids, please. Scout requires a physical, fenced yard. This good-looking guy is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  Please fill out an application at: https://www.speakrescue.com/pre-adoption-form ##2698548##

Story
Rusty Wallace is a 4 year old dauchshund mix.   Rusty is house trained, cat and dog friendly, and enjoys human companions of all ages.  If in a home with children, they need to be older children that understand Rusty's needs noted below.   He loves car rides. He sleeps in bed with his human but will also sleep in a kennel. He loves to burrow so blankets are a must!   Rusty came back into rescue severally overweight.  You can see that in his before and after photo in his bio. He worked hard and is now back to a healthy weight and just needs to maintain.    Rusty requires a home with no steps or minimal steps. He is currently in a home that has mostly single steps and where there are two steps, he has a ramp. He had to have spinal surgery so limited steps are a must. Steps are also needed for him to get on and off the couch and bed.    Rusty has seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy.  He is taking meds three times a day to prevent them. The meds do cause him to be extremely needy. He is very vocal until his needs are met.    Rusty would not be a good fit for an apartment.   He is good with dogs his size or smaller.  He can't be with a bigger dog that is playful or has a lot of energy. f you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Rusty Wallace’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. About Gigi: 🐶 4 month old 🎀 Female Mini Dachshund 💉 Up-to-date on vaccinations for age 🏡 House training is a work in progress 🔗 Playpen or Fence is needed until she is comfortable walking on a leash 💗 Playful, quiet, and learning to enjoy couch cuddles Gigi was born missing a toe, so the breeder couldn't sell her. So, she was giving to us. This little girl is so happy and playful. We like to remind applicants that a new puppy is a lot like a toddler. Gigi will need to be supervised, and the best way to do that is to have a dedicated space set up for her. This area will be a part of the home where she can see activity & observe, but it is a place that is puppy proofed so she can't get hurt and yet can play, lounge, or nap when her family is not directly engaging. Playpens, 4-squares, or x-pens are excellent tools to make this possible. They are easily mobile if you want to move them around, too. If you have interior stairs, please have a plan to keep your puppy off the stairs unsupervised. Additionally, please be aware of the stair railing & the distance between the spindles. Small respectful children are okay for Gigi. However, anyone unsteady on their feet, and large dogs are a safety hazard for her. So please consider that when making the decision as to her being a good fit for your family. Gigi is still working on her potty training. She is spending lots of time outside when the weather is nice but still having accidents inside her foster home. It is a process that will require commitment & patience, as puppies have a little puppy bladder. Remember, in a new home, a new environment means that new habits will have to be established. Please give her time to get used to a schedule & set her up for success! We will accept applications from families who do not have a fenced yard. But we will insist on you having a plan for a safe area where Gigi can do her potty business. An xpen is a great plan for this. Gigi hasn't had much training on a leash & harness, so her new family will need to. If you do have a fenced yard, it must be physical and very secure with no gaps at the bottom so a 6lb puppy can't fit through. No puppy should ever be left in a yard without supervision, NEVER EVER. Bringing home a new puppy is a huge responsibility. It requires lots of patience & time! But it is very rewarding if everyone is invested. Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt a wonderful new friend. Please don’t apply without speaking to your spouse/partner first.

Story
Biscuit was surrendered to animal control after his owner was incarcerated. He is a small dog and on the alpha side. He does ok with other dogs that are female or submissive netuered males. He has alot of energy and loves to tell you if something is bothering him haha. He does have an old injury as he was hit by a car last year and his prior owner took him to the vet but refused to have his leg set/surgery done. It does not affect his ability to be himself nor does it cause him any pain, however he may get arthritis when he is older because of the injury. We feel he would do best in a home with older kiddos over 10 years and adults. He is unsure about cats but does tolerate them well.  ##2428829##
