You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact MBr for more information about this pet. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Henri is a 9-10 year old male Dachshund who weighs in at 18 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $250.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Meet Henri  Henri is a tiny bundle of love who will absolutely steal your heart. This little guy is beyond adorable and lives for his favorite moment of the day—when you come home. He gets so excited to see his people that his whole body wiggles with happiness, and it’s honestly the cutest thing ever. Henri loves kisses, cuddles, and especially being held like a baby. He’s a total snuggle bug who thrives on affection and being close to his humans. And one more very important thing to know about him: Henri LOVES food—treats, meals, snacks… if you have it, he’s interested.  Because he has some vision difficulties, he can occasionally bump into things, but he navigates life well with a little guidance and consistency. He does best when taken outside frequently for potty breaks, and he’ll need help being carried down stairs. Henri also has allergies and takes Apoquel daily, which he will need to stay on long-term to keep him comfortable and healthy. Henri is sweet, loving, and full of personality—he’s truly a special little dog who will bring so much joy to the lucky person or family who welcomes him home.  Henri is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken with regular trips out, and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! February 21, 2026, 12:41 pm

Story
Meet Mulan, this precious little dachshund-beagle mix with the biggest heart and the sweetest soul  Born in October 2025, Mulan is already winning everyone over with her gentle nature and happy spirit. She’s expected to be around 30 pounds fully grown — the perfect medium size for cuddling on the couch, joining you on adventures, or curling up at your feet. Mulan absolutely adores other dogs and would thrive in a home with a playful canine sibling.  Her affectionate, easygoing personality makes her a wonderful companion for families, couples, or anyone looking for a loyal best friend. This smart girl is already potty-pad trained and crate trained — she settles nicely in her crate and is well on her way to being a polite little housemate. For a young puppy, she’s impressively adaptable and eager to please. Before coming into rescue, Mulan was living outside and was sadly hit by a car, resulting in a broken leg. She had surgery to repair her leg, and has healed beautifully and is doing great! She’s resilient, strong, and ready to leave her past behind her for a safe, loving forever home! All Mulan needs now is someone to show her what it feels like to be cherished for a lifetime. If you’re looking for a sweet, social, and snuggly companion with a brave little heart, Mulan might just be your perfect match! If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 20, 2026, 11:10 am

Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!

Story
Meet Jane 🤍 applications at leiashope.org Jane is a 3-year-old Dachshund whose life changed overnight. She was released from her breeder after suffering a ruptured uterus that required an emergency spay. Once she could no longer produce profit, she was no longer “needed.” And that is the very best thing that could have happened to her. Because now Jane gets the chance to be someone’s priority. Someone’s cherished girl. Someone’s family. Jane is just beginning to understand what this new life means. She’s been reserved so far, quietly observing the world around her and taking it all in. Mill dogs don’t get to just “be dogs,” so everything is new — the sounds, the routines, the freedom to go outside just because she wants to. She does enjoy being outdoors and is starting to settle into the rhythm of home life. She has done well in a foster home with kids and a cat. Right now, she prefers to watch rather than jump in, but that’s okay. We know there’s a personality in there waiting to bloom, and we will update her bio as she grows more confident and her true self emerges. Jane will require: • A secure physical fenced yard (she is a flight risk) • A confident canine companion to show her how to “dog” • A patient family willing to move at her pace She does not know how to walk on a leash yet and will need continued guidance and safety precautions as she learns. Jane’s adoption fee is $400. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Applications can be found at leiashope.org. We are a volunteer-run rescue, so please allow 7–10 business days for application processing. Please read our adoption requirements carefully before applying. Meet and greets are scheduled only with an approved application, and all family members (including resident dogs) must attend. Adopters must travel to Decatur, IL for the meet and greet and adoption — we do not provide transport. Dogs are a lifetime commitment. Jane deserves a home that will love her always and return her to Leia’s Hope if they can no longer keep her. She has never been someone’s priority before. Let’s change that.

Story
All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!
