He is young and has made progress. Once he settles in he is amazing but will always need a strong pack leader. The 3 3 3 Rule definitely applies to this handsome little man. Meet Peanut, your future partner pup in crime — a goofy, zoomie-powered dachshund with big opinions and even bigger energy. Whether he’s tearing through the yard like a tiny rocket or plotting his next wrestling match, this boy is here for a good time.Peanut is crushing the basics:✔️ Kennel training in progress✔️ Fully potty trained✔️ Walks on a leash… at what he calls maximum dachshund velocity (we’re workshopping “leisurely stroll”)His dream life? A home with a younger dog buddy ready to tag-team zoomies, backyard shenanigans, and daily nonsense. Peanut Fun Facts:• Olympic-level door dasher → fenced yard required• Slightly impulsive (he acts first, thinks… never) → best in homes without kids• 100% certified silly goose• Expert cuddler after chaos hourIf your life is missing a chaotic little sidekick and built-in entertainment system, Peanut is ready to clock in as your full-time partner pup in crime  Peanut's Winter Report 3/16/2026 Breaking news from foster boy Peanut, age 1.5: snow = fun… wind = rude. This silly, goofy little dachshund has decided snow is perfectly acceptable for zoomies and sniffing adventures. The wind, however, was clearly unnecessary and he would like to file a complaint with management.Peanut is doing great with kennel training, is fully potty trained, and walks on a leash… although he believes walks should be conducted at maximum dachshund speed, so a little work on the pulling is still in progress. His absolute favorite hobby is playing with other dogs, and he’d really love a younger canine buddy in his future home to wrestle and zoom with.A few Peanut fun facts:• Professional door dasher, so a fenced yard is a must• A bit impulsive, so probably not the best match for homes with kids• 100% silly boy energy• Certified good-time companionIf you’re looking for a goofy little sidekick who keeps life entertaining, Peanut is ready to bring the laughs (and the zoomies) to his forever home. Dakota Dachshund Rescue Peanut update March 10 2026....  Peanut – Professional Sidekick Seeking Full-Time Human Oh Peanut… you sweet little stage-five clinger. And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way. Peanut is a 1.5-year-old lovebug currently accepting applications for his forever human. His biggest life goal is simple: be wherever you are. Bathroom? Kitchen? Couch? Peanut says, “Great! I’ll come too.” Personal space is more of a suggestion in Peanut’s world. This boy has a big heart and a playful spirit. He’d love a home with someone who enjoys tossing toys, sharing couch time, and helping him build a little confidence. Peanut is still learning that the world isn’t quite as suspicious as it sometimes sounds… because yes, he does believe every noise deserves a formal bark announcement. Neighborhood watch? Covered.  Peanut’s current resume includes:Potty trainedNo food insecurity (he’s a gentleman at mealtime)Crate training in progressLoyal companion level: expertProfessional noise inspector What Peanut really needs another pup who wants a best buddy and a human patient who will keep helping him grow while enjoying all the goofy affection he has to give. If you’ve been looking for a dog who will adore you like you hung the moon… Peanut might just be your guy.  Apply to meet this little shadow today!Dakota Dachshund Rescue Howdy! I'm Peanut. I came to DDR because I have some issues with resource guarding. There are children in the house and children come over to play so my mom was afraid I might bite someone. I'm a great guy, I just need a strong pack leader and some guidance. I shouldn't be in a home with children because sometimes they don't understand my warning growl to leave my stuff alone. I love playing with other dogs, I do need a fenced yard so I can run chase and play. My foster mom is just getting to know me so she will do an update when she knows me better. Can you be my furever home? I am 1 1/2 yrs old, I weigh 16 pounds, my adoption fee is $600 plus sales tax $27=$627  My adoption fee help with my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter, dental  and microchipping.         Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 30, 2026, 10:44 pm

Fill out the form by clicking on the picture of the computer screen with our logo on it.Timmy update January 6th 2026: He is now 1 yr 7 months old. He has gotten much stronger but still has some issues. He typically needs a little help getting in the door. He does bark when he needs to potty but doesn't always get outside in time. If he barks I carry him outside and he does his job. Timmy is quite the snuggler on the couch. He cannot get on and off the couch by himself. He sleeps in an expen at night with another dachshund. We continually try to get more weight on him, it has been a long slow process as his tummy was shrunk down very small before he came to us, he was basically starving to death Timmy update Friday August 15th. Timmy came to us when he was 11 months old, he was the size of a 4 month old.Timmy has neurologic issues. We have done extensive bloodwork including bile acid challenge and xrays.Timmy does not walk normally, his body moves sideways when his head is trying to go forward.Sometimes he has issues standing. If we try to lay him on his left side he flounders, we have to put him in his bed on his right side.He is still very thin, we feed him small kibble mixed with canned so he can swallow it easily otherwise he chokes, we also offer mashed Fresh Pet and try to feed him multiple times throughout the day to try to get some weight on him. Timmy will need a very special home that can continue to work with him. His feedings take about 30 minutes with him sitting next to you and coaxing him. Are you that special person that can continue with Timmy's cares with lots of love and patience? Timmy update 5/5/2025 Timmy is doing well, he is up to 6.2 pounds! He is a bit stronger. We will get him neutered once he is to a safe weight.Timmy is a sweet boy. Unfortunately he has some neurologic issues we are trying to figure out. He is in for a bile acid challenge today to see if perhaps a liver shunt. Timmy needs some special angels to sponsor him while Dr Paul figures out what his issues are. Please keep Timmy in your prayers     My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter, dental if needed and microchipping.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 9:26 am

Gus needs more time working on his issues so we will keep him with his foster mom for a bit and look for some guidance from a dog trainer.7/20/2025 Gus came to Dakota Dachshund Rescue as a breeder release boy.He is just beginning his journey to become a house pet.Gus could use some angels to sponsor him. Gus was diagnosed as Heartworm positive July 27th.He is on doxycycline and oral heartworm preventive monthly now.also on a flea/tick product that kills mosquitoes as well.  First treatment injection will be Sept 23.  Gus will be in the rescue for multiple months while he goes through his treatment. Can you sponsor Gus?He would love you for it.   My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter, and microchipping.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 30, 2026, 10:44 pm

I'm a very sweet but pretty shy guy.  I am a recent breeder release guy just starting my journey to become a house pet. I am working on house training, what a harness is and all those things that a house pet does. I love hanging out in my foster mom's fenced yard with the other small dogs. I don't understand the dangers of cars and trucks, what roads are and loud noises like horns and sirens scare me. I do require a fenced yard. Do you have patience and love to help me learn to be your best friend?
