Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mercedes is a loving 14 year old dachshund looking for a home to call her own while she lives out her glory days! This little girl has a heart of gold and you can often find her cuddling with you on either the sofa or in bed, making her a true snuggle expert. Don't let her age fool you though, she loves to run in the yard and will do so until her little legs are tired. Mercedes gets along great with other dogs and when cat tested, she did not seem to mind a laid back, dog savvy cat. She LOVES treats! She loves them so much that she will almost take your finger with it because she is get so excited. That being said, she needs work on her treat boundaries and would do best in a home with no small children. Mercedes is also potty trained. With her old age, it may be hard for her to hold it when you are gone for longer periods of time, but she will gladly use a potty pad when left alone.  Mercedes adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their pets altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background and reference check, vet history check, and a home visit. If you would like to meet Mercedes please fill out and adoption application for consideration at adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 8, 2024, 1:58 pm

Story
Mr. Watson the wiggle butt! At about 6 months old, he just couldn't be ANY happier! No seriously, getting these profile pictures was some hard work as he was just incredibly excited to be hanging out with people! He's such a lover boy, and truly cannot give you enough kisses, hugs, or wiggles! My favorite thing about this guy is his hugs-so often he will gently jump onto laps and wrap his paws over the shoulders of whoever is holding him. It is the CUTEST thing. And when he chases his tail? Hysterical. This little man weighs in at about 6 pounds- he's a shrimp but he doesn't know it! Watson loves running with pets of ALL sizes, and is 100% willing to make friends with anyone! And even more willing to cuddle, play, and wiggle with anyone! If you're looking for a VERY sociable little young man who's ready to rock and roll out of here, you've got to meet Watson! As amazing as his personality is, it only gets better! He is crate-trained AND know's sit! Using his crate-training skills, fully house-breaking him will be NO challenge at all!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mister George is on the search for his forever home! He currently lives with other dogs and cats, he would especially love a dachshund savvy home preferably without any young children. George, like most dachshunds, could shed a few pounds but that does not stop him from living his best little life! This dude LOVES food, and we think it is safe to say that food is his biggest motivation. In fact, it is best to make sure your trash is securely closed because he is not scared to do a little dumpster diving for some table scraps. If he is not on the hunt for food, you may find him playing with toys, but to be more specific, he prefers the ones that squeak. George gets super excited for walks, however they are pretty short lived since his little legs can only travel so far before getting tired. After one of those short walks, George will certainly be ready for a nap! He loves to sleep, sometimes he sleeps so hard that he needs to be woken up by his human to go outside and use the potty. With a fuzzy bed or blanket, George will surely fall fast asleep no matter where he is.  George's adoption fee is $250 and includes having a recent dental with teeth extractions, neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their current animals altered and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background and reference check, a vet history check, and a home visit. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sophia is a 7 year old, super cute mixture of what we guess is dachshund mixed with something that gives her a little taller legs, so maybe a mini Australian shepherd? She's beautiful but she is quite shy. She will need some time to warm up to you.and she will need a safe space to go when she's feeling overwhelmed. A crate or space under a piece of furniture will do, she isn't too picky! Sophia also has a very typical small dog issue, she needs to lose some weight. She's on a diet plan that's working, but still has some room for improvement. We are working on house training, and using the dog door with some success, but she will need some additional training.  Sophia currently lives with other small dogs and would do okay with another small, calm dog. Big dogs and children can be quite intimidating to her. She doesn't need much physical contact with people, but she loves your presence. She will follow you around the house and would prefer to at least be in the same room. Once she decides you're not so scary, she will hang out on the couch with you and enjoy getting pets and snuggles. Sophia is very sweet, but very timid. She will need someone with a lot of patience and that will allow her the space and time needed for big adjustments. If you are looking for a low maintenance dog and have a quiet home, Sophia must just be the dog for you! Sophia's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and prevention, plus a free basic obedience class at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Story
Patton is around 10 years old, I have had him for 5 years. He loves to cuddle under neath the covers with you and is a snuggler. He doesn't need leashed to go outside to potty, will not run off. He does loves walks and treats. He does have a tendency to mark his territory in the house. He gets along with other dogs and cats. Hasn't been around younger children a lot but he would be a good fit for a little older person. Our schedules are so busy and he doesn't like to be kenneled a lot so someone that works from home or is home a lot would be ideal. I just want to make sure he goes to a good home. he does need some dental work done soon. He loves to dress up wear jackets, costums etc...
