Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org meet n greets are set by appointment only with approved applicants.*** Owen is really ready to find his new forever home!  This lil dude has been such a trooper at the shelter and we have loved having him hang out with us but its time for him to head out.  Owen lost his human and ended up here at the shelter and he is 10 pounds and 10 years but you wouldn't think it since he is so active and looks great!  He was promptly neutered and had a dental when he arrived but then he struggled with some on an off bad stools which we finally figured out was him snitching cat kibbles from the lobby cats when no one was looking!  He's all good now and is just the best little buddy.  He would do fine in a home with gentle children, a nice (not too rambunctious dog close to his size) and he's good with cats too.  Or if some kind senior person would just wants someone to sit and watch TV or read a book after a short walk that would be cool with Owen too!  He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped his adoption fee is $275.00September 10, 2026, 10:04 am

Story
Meet Oscar 🐾 Oscar is a one-of-a-kind little guy who is part Dachshund, part Chihuahua part Pittie, part mystery, and 100% lovable! With his long body and short little legs, he’s basically a hot dog with a Pittie smile. 😂❤️ Oscar is super affectionate, playful, and cuddly. At just barely a year old he has plenty of energy and loves to play, but when playtime is over, he’s more than happy to curl up with his favorite person. He also does wonderfully with other dogs and sleeps like a champ in his crate. 💤 He’s mostly potty trained and is learning more every day. He’s also apparently pursuing a career in interior design—he loves rearranging the dog beds and toys to create what he believes is the perfect layout. 😂 Oscar does have a mischievous side. He LOVES food and may occasionally jump on tables or go looking for snacks. In fact, this little genius has figured out how to open Tupperware! We believe some of this comes from his history of food insecurity, so he’s still learning that he doesn’t have to worry about where his next meal is coming from. ❤️ Oscar is sweet, silly, energetic, affectionate, and just the right amount of naughty. He’s looking for a family who will give him patience, structure, cuddles, playtime, and most importantly, the chance to finally feel safe and loved. Oscar may rearrange your furniture, steal your heart, and possibly figure out your Tupperware… but we promise he’s worth it. 🐶❤️ Local adoption fee is $350 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)

Prince is a young, fiesta dog. He loves to run and play. Sometimes he can get a bit carried away. He likes having a playmate. Recommend a fenced yard so he can run off some energy. He is young and still has a lot to learn. Could you be the one to guide him?

Story
Welcome to rescue, Scrappy!  He is great with dogs, cats and kids.  Scrappy is house trained and does not need to be kenneled when you're gone.  He's such a sweet boy and he loves to play! Scrappy is getting settled at his foster home.  We'll share updates as we learn more about him!   The suggested adoption donation for Scrappy is $425, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2024 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $400,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
🐾 Meet Kasey. 4 years old, crystal-blue eyes, and firmly committed to the couch-potato lifestyle. 💙 This little Dachshund enjoys short bursts of curiosity—usually just long enough to determine whether you have treats or are available for cuddles. Exercise? She’s open to negotiations. 😂 Kasey could benefit from a *light* exercise routine to help her shed a little extra love, but don’t expect her to suddenly start training for a marathon. She’s much more interested in cuddling, lounging, and keeping you company. Kasey is bonded with her best girl, Jessica, so these two are looking for a forever home together. Two Dachshunds. One couch. Better scoot over. 🐾💕 Thanks to a very generous donor, **Jessica's adoption fee has already been sponsored**, making it even easier to welcome this wonderful pair into your family. Interested in adopting? Please review all adoption requirements listed on our "Adopt" page, including requirements regarding spay/neuter of current pets, regular veterinary care, and home/landlord checks.

Story
🐾 Meet Jessica. 10 years old, long-haired, a little chubby, and absolutely living her best senior-girl life. 💕 Jessica’s priorities are pretty simple: treats, attention, and finding the best available lap. She’s gentle, sweet, friendly with everyone, and an excellent cuddle companion. She even does great for grooming—which is important when you’re maintaining hair this fabulous. 💅😂 Jessica is bonded with her younger bestie, Kasey, and they’re looking for a home together. If your retirement plan includes snacks, cuddles, and taking life at a slower pace, Jessica would like to discuss joining you. 🐾 Thanks to a very generous donor, **Jessica's adoption fee has already been sponsored**, making it even easier to welcome this wonderful pair into your family.
