Many people are losing the opportunity to adopt the animal they want because they fail to put in an application and the pet was adopted before we could answer your email. .If you have applied for an animal in our facility and have not received a response within 7 days, PLEASE call or contact us again. Though we do our best in trying to answer all emails in a timely manner, sometimes things get away from us, get lost or misplaced. Story
Miracles. Her name says it all — and honestly, she is one. This beautiful 6-year-old Dachshund spent the first chapter of her life in a breeder`s cage, producing litter after litter of puppies, never once having a moment that was just for her. No yard to sniff, no couch to curl up on, no one to stroke her ears and tell her she was a good girl. That chapter is over now, and Miracles is ready to thrive. She is fully vetted — spayed, vaccinated, and has had dental work. You may notice some hair loss on her ears, likely due to the malnourishment she endured, but she is already blossoming. Given how lovely she is after such a hard start, we expect that with good food, proper care, and a whole lot of love, this girl is going to be a genuine stunner.Miracles is an explorer at heart — the moment she discovered a fenced yard, something lit up in her. Nose to the ground, tail wagging, sniffing every inch of the world she was never allowed to see. Back inside, she is equally happy to curl up beside you and be gently stroked — calm, peaceful, and soaking up every bit of affection she can get.Miracles is working hard on her potty training and doing a great job — she uses pee pads indoors and goes outside when taken out. She`s still finding her rhythm, as any newly rescued dog would, so a little patience goes a long way. She has never been leash trained either, so she`ll need a gentle, encouraging hand to help her learn — a small ask for a dog who has waited six years for a chance at a real life. She is hand shy but after only a day she laid down to et her foster mom pick her up a few times so she should get over the shyness with patience, gentleness and lots of treats (she LOVES treats!). As a classic long-bodied Dachshund, she would do best in a home without a lot of stairs. More critically, Dachshunds are uniquely prone to serious spinal cord injuries, and jumping off furniture — even a low sofa — can cause severe, sometimes permanent damage and paralysis. Miracles must not be allowed to jump down from heights, and ramps or steps are a must.Miracles` ideal home looks something like this:🏡 A fenced yard where she can safely explore and follow her nose🐾 A small, confident canine companion to show her the ropes and keep her company since she adores other dogs🦮 Someone with the patience and commitment to gently leash train her📚 An adopter who is knowledgeable about Dachshu

Story
Sweet Maddie Bea!Maddie Bea is a 3 year old Breeder Release Miniature Dachshund who at this time is still timid. She is beginning to find out what it is like to have a life that is free and having someone who cares. She has only been in a foster home for a few days and she has already started with zoomies in the yard. She has become a velcro dog with her foster mom but she is still reluctant to come to her and be loved on. She will let you pick her up but it does take a few minutes for her to know that it is okay. She is mostly house trained and can go all night with no accidents. In her forever home it is preferred that Maddie Bea has a fenced yard. Kids need to be 10+ since fast movements or loud noises can startle her. She is also going to need some one who is patient and willing to let her grow at her own pace. Your patience and work will come back to you 10-fold with this sweet girl!If you are interested in meeting Maddie Bea, please fill out an application at AHeinz57.com,

Story
🚨Sassy senior citizen alert🚨 Meet Snuggles Sassy Pants Age- 12 Breed- mini dachshund mix What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? Shuggles was the queen of her 🏰 until her elderly human passed away. She was brought to us to find her new castle Are you good with kids? What age ranges? Tiny humans are NOT her jam. They are far too busy and all up in her personal space. She would be fine with older children 12+ who understand that she’s a little old lady and she doesn’t want you to do anything other than serve her needs like the queen she is. She is. Are you good with other dogs? Yes. She couldn’t care less what other canine cocubines reside in her castle. She will absolutely view them as beneath her, but she will cohabitate with them just fine. Are you good with cats? Cats are a hard pass for her. Her ancestral roots are STRONG. She will hunt a cat 🐈 Are you housebroken? What is your current potty routine? Duh. No queen would ever potty in her castle. Gross. She will absolutely let you know when she has to go out and she does love going on potty walks. Do you like car rides? Yes!! She we’ll sit in her chariot just fine. Do you like walks? How are you on a leash? Yes. She will walk nicely and do her business. She is 12 so her long walking days are behind her. Do you like toys? What is your favorite toy? She does like toys and demands her daily Greenie to keep her fangs nice and clean. Do you know any commands/tricks? She’s not big on commands, she’d prefer you ask nicely and she will decide if your request is worth her effort….most the time it’s a no. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Describe your personality-Snuggles is basically your grumpy old grandma who smoked Pal Mals for 30 years and now just wants to live out her days in peace and quiet being left TF alone 😂 She is happy snoozing on her favorite recliner and watching Mash reruns with you all day. She would be a great companion for an elderly person who wants someone with them but not necessarily a total lap dog. She doesn’t love tons of attention but will sit next to you. She’s an opinionated old gal who knows what she wants in life. If you can respect that, she would be perfect for you!!! She is spayed , utd on all shots and just had a dental. Snuggles is fostered in Sioux City.
