Story
Meet the charming and handsome Chihuahua Ernie, who was found roaming the streets of San Antonio with his companion Bert (also available for adoption). This little guy is a caramel colored smooth-haired male with a heart full of love and a playful personality that will melt your heart. Despite being left alone and abandoned, he remains active, goofy and full of energy, making him a perfect addition to any family. He is also crate-trained and loves his toys, making him the perfect housemate. He is always eager to learn new things and explore the world around him. He loves spending time outside and going on long walks with his humans. He is always up for a game or any other activity that will keep him moving. He is also very affectionate and will never say no to a good snuggle session. Ernie is great with most other dogs and loves to socialize. However, he would be also happy to be the only dog in your life and soak up all the attention and love. He is pretty versatile for a chihuahua :) If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and goofy companion who will make you laugh and bring joy to your life, then this smooth-haired Chihuahua is the perfect match for you! Adopt him now and give him the forever home he deserves. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Meet Rainbow Brite! She’s about 2 years old and weighs 20 pounds. She’s a happy, tail-wagging girl who absolutely loves to be near her humans. Her humans are her entire world. She loves women immediately. Men do scare her at first, but once she warms up she loves all her people equally. She's not fond of the chaos of a bunch of children, but calm, respectful children who give her space when she wants are fine. She has so much love and snuggles to give but doesn’t like to share affection with other dogs. She loves to shop and walks easily beside the cart at Walmart and Lowes. She's a great traveler, will sit on the seat, look out the window, and also lie in her crate after about an hour. She’s house trained and has good house manners. She walks great on a leash and doesn’t pull. She comes when called and is learning how to sit on command. She is her happiest and most content sitting for Netflix marathons and snuggling with her human on the couch.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or $200 for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as ''Out of Town'' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.June 9, 2023, 9:50 pm

Story
This is Reno, a 5 year old Dachshund Mix. This handsome and happy dude is heartworm positive. We would love it if he could complete his treatment for this in his forever home rather than having to uproot him after 4 months in a foster home. So we are looking for Reno's Medical Foster to Adopt home. This means we cover all of the medical expenses and provide everything he needs until he is medically cleared and ready to for the official adoption process. You would never guess Reno has anything going on inside that body of his. He is showing no symptoms, so we do expect treatment to be uneventful. He is such a a friendly little guy. And no one can resist those stubby little Weiner dog legs! Apply here to be Reno's medical foster to adopt forever home! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/ITAV/Dog

Story
You're a wizard-dog, Harry! A wizard-dog? A wizard-dog! And you've been humbly invited to ... Howlwarts to learn and grow! Harry is a cute, quiet, and submissive dog looking for a family to love him! ... and not put him under the stairs! Harry hasn't been around cats, okay with kids, and fine but grumpy with dogs. Harry was found outside full of fleas wandering in a southside neighborhood; checked with possible owners and they gave him and his brother Lloyd up no questions asked; they didn't want them. He is crate and potty trained and very chill! He is sometimes a bit scared of people but warms up once he gets to know you. Some basic information about Harry; he is 4-years old, male, Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, and is small-sized (1-19lbs). Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Meet Lloyd! Lloyd is a handsome, smart, and friendly Chiweenie! With his long noodle body and fun Chihuahua energy Lloyd is the life of the party! Lloyd is good with dogs, would pair better with older children, and hasn't experienced any cats yet. He is crate trained and working on potty training, but doing well! Lloyd was found on the street full of fleas with his partner in crime Harry, was pretty much just running the streets, owners readily gave him up when asked who he belonged to. Lloyd is a super energetic dog who's ready to run right into your life and be your new best friend! Some basic information about Lloyd; he is 1-year(s) old, male, Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, and is medium-sized (20-59lbs). Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Hello Dodo (b. 12/9/2018), a Dachshund Mix.  Dodo will need a special home that can recognize and understand his cues and gets his consent on things going on around him.  He would do best in an adult-only home, that is quiet and predictable.  He wants lots of cuddles and some romp time.  He is playful and loves to sit on your lap with a blanket.  When he is ready for bed, he will put himself to bed by going under the covers.  He loves squeaky toys.  He needs to eat alone with no distractions around.   The perfect home for Dodo is one with a yard, no children, and not a lot of traffic in the home, and one that can show him, love and patients. The suggested adoption donation for Dodo is $375 for the pair. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2021 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $307,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##1669105##
