Story
Meet Antoinette! Antoinette is a long-haired Dachshund born July 8, 2020, with a gentle heart, an independent streak, and a personality that is well worth taking the time to get to know. Antoinette likes to take her time getting to know new people—she’s not handing out best-friend status on the first date. But give her the time to figure out that you’re safe, and suddenly the girl who was keeping her distance has become your tiny Velcro shadow. Once you’re one of her people, Antoinette bonds deeply and loves being close to you. Her affection may take a little longer to earn, but once you have it, you’ll get to see just how loving, loyal, and wonderfully attached to her people this little girl can be. Other dogs are a huge source of comfort and confidence for Antoinette. She adores her foster siblings—especially the resident dachshund—and will need another dog in her forever home. She also does great with cats. Older, dog-savvy children would be the best fit, as younger children and their quick movements can be a little scary for her. Antoinette is potty trained, although she may have some accidents while adjusting to a new environment or when she’s nervous, and she absolutely loves her kennel. She appreciates a calmer, predictable approach and can be startled by loud noises, fast movements, or being unexpectedly picked up from behind. And don’t let her sophisticated name fool you. Antoinette is perfectly happy rolling around in the dirt, lounging outside with her foster siblings, and sunbathing for as long as someone will let her. Given the choice, this little lady may happily spend an entire afternoon soaking up the sunshine. Antoinette will do best with experienced dog owners who understand shy dogs and are willing to let trust develop at her pace. Familiarity with dachshunds and their wonderfully unique personalities would be a definite plus. Her new family will also need to be especially cautious with doors and gates during her adjustment period. When Antoinette is unsure of a new environment, she can be a very quick little escape artist. Once she feels safe and knows she’s home, this behavior settles considerably. Antoinette may need a little extra time to decide you’re her person, but once she does, she is ALL IN. Give her patience, consistency, and a canine buddy to help show her the ropes, and one day you’ll wonder when the shy little dachshund became the tiny shadow who simply loves being near you. With Antoinette, the best part isn’t just earning her trust—it’s getting to be the person she chooses.     The suggested adoption fee for Antoinette is $495. Bullies-N-Beyond is a 501(c)3, non-profit corporation that is 100% volunteer operated. Adoption donation fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. All dogs adopted through BNBR will have been administered their age appropriate vaccines which may include DHPP, Rabies, Lepto and Bordetella. All dogs will also be adopted out as already altered if of age, for those not of age, a voucher will be provided. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. BNBR does not adopt on a first serve basis. All available dogs are adopted based on their needs to provide the best fit home. ##2706947##

Story
Walter is a 26 pound Dachshund mix who is all about love, attention and snuggles! At 1.5 years old this sweet boy is hoping for a loving family to spend the rest of his life with! *NOTE: Walter in his exuberance for his people jumped of his porch to greet them and and broke his leg. He is currently recovering and will soon be available, so please submit an application! Besides being adorable,  Walter is a happy pup that LOVES to be outside playing and running! We are requiring a fence for him at his new home so he can freely play outside until his little heart is content. He is socialized and currently lives with male and female dogs, but he is definitely more comfortable with females his size or smaller! Walter is also good with cats!  This cutie is potty trained, does well in his crate and is good on leash!  Walter does have some fear and is not thrilled to share all his toys...hey neither am I lol! So we recommend older children only.  If you are looking for an affectionate little guy for your best friend and have a fence, Walter is waiting for you! Please apply at www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org ADOPTION DONATION: $375 *ALL DOGS MUST BE INSIDE COMPANION ANIMALS! They must all be trained with positive reward based training and all are up to date with vaccinations, altered, microchipped, HeartWorm tested, and on preventatives.         PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! August 20, 2026, 9:36 pm

THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Reginald was recently released from a breeder and is taking applications for his forever home. As he is still new to rescue, we are giving him time to settle in and trust. We do know that he is extremely handsome, but lacks confidence in the world around him, therefore can be a little defensive when unsure or afraid. For this reason, he will be adopted to an adult-only home with a securely fenced yard and a resident dog to serve as a mentor and companion. The suggested adoption donation for Reginald is a minimum of $600 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information

Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. 5 years. That's 1,825 days. A dark dank shed. Stifling in the summer, freezing in the winter. Filthy and matted, loaded with fleas, ear infection and parasites. Nails so overgrown that he walked on the sides of his feet. Rotten teeth. Poor quality food (and probably not enough.) No vet care. Very little human contact. One other dog for companionship (his dad.) He wasn't even given a name. 5 whole years. His whole life. Then one day, the door to that shed opened and he will NEVER have go into it again. This boy now has a name and somehow, even through all of this, he is one of the happiest dogs you'll ever meet. Michael and his dad, Kirk Douglas (see what we did there?) were surrendered from a breeder recently. They spent their whole lives in a shed with very little interaction with people. But dogs, being truly amazing creatures, are so very forgiving. And these boys are 2 of the most affectionate, loving boys you'll ever meet. Michael is a very handsome 5 yr old, 14 lb, long hair black and tan dachshund. He is such a joyful boy that his tail never stops wagging. Velcro dog is an understatement. He will follow you EVERYWHERE and loves to give kisses. He likes to stick that long dachshund nose in whatever you're doing to try to "help." He'll help you with lawn work, laundry, watching TV, whatever you're doing, he's there. He will do best in a home where someone is home more than not as he gets attached to his person quickly. Michael does well with other small dogs. He loves to run and play with another dog his size, so would love a young active sibling to play with. He can be a bit possessive with food, so he is fed in his kennel. But he seems to do fine otherwise. He requires a confident, small resident dog to continue to "show him the ropes" and to help him gain some independence and confidence of his own. He enjoys spending time outside as long as you are outside with him. He gets a little nervous by himself, even if the other dogs are outside with him. A securely fenced yard is a must as he hasn't learned to walk on a leash yet. Michael does great in a kennel. He'll jump in for a treat. He's working on potty training. Spending 5 years in a shed, he never had any rules about where and when he could potty. He's quickly learning to potty outside, but as mentioned, he always wants to be with you, so you do need to go outside with him. He wears a belly band well, so that helps prevent potties in the house. Michael is a barker. (He had to have something to do in that shed for 5 years.) He has a deep, strong bark. He will alert you to any perceived danger. And that pesky squirrel running up the tree. And that neighbor kid riding by on his scooter. And....well, you get the picture. He wouldn't do well in an apartment. We don't think he would do well with small kids as they tend to be unpredictable and make a lot of noise. While Michael loves to follow his foster everywhere and be with her all the time, he can be nervous around new people. It seems he gets more nervous with people that are standing. And it seems possibly men, but we're not sure if it is men in general, or certain men. Honestly, we just don't know yet what it is that makes him nervous about some people, but go straight up to others for loves and pets. I guess spending the first 5 years of your life in a shed will do that to a guy. He will definitely need someone patient, calm and willing to work with him on building trust. Your efforts will be rewarded with lots of snuggles and kisses. If you would like to give this joyful boy a life that makes him forget his first 5 years in a shed, apply to adopt Michael at: at https://www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information The suggested adoption donation for Michael is a minimum of $300 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Solara is a 6-year-old red smooth-haired Dachshund with a gentle spirit and a story that has shaped who she is today. She came from a commercial breeding facility where life was not kind to her, and the experience left her very unsure about people. Because of that, Solara is extremely shy, skittish and startles easily. She prefers to be touched only on her own terms and needs time to feel safe. Despite everything she has been through, Solara is slowly learning that the world can be a better place. She has made progress in foster care, but she is still very fearful of people. What she needs most is a patient, understanding adopter who will let her move at her own pace and celebrate the small victories along the way. We don't know if she will ever be a snuggler, as she is very guarded, but we are hoping as she continues to make progress that she will be more open to pets and cuddles. Solara delights in some simple pleasures. She likes going outside, exploring the world in a safe environment, so a securely fenced yard is a requirement. She enjoys basking in the sun and doing squiggle rolls in the grass. Solara also does well with other dogs, who help her feel more comfortable and confident, so she will need a resident dog in her forever home. It is best to start with her on a leash at all times to ensure her safety and help with approachability. Solara is spayed, up to date on vaccines, on heartworm prevention, kennel trained and she is doing well with potty training. She would do best in a calm home, with a companion canine and a patient person (or family) who understands that trust takes time. With kindness, consistency, and a gentle approach, Solara has the potential to blossom into a devoted companion. The suggested adoption donation for Solara is a minimum of $400 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit.
