Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Shelley Winters is a lovely 2 year old light red smooth dachshund that was recently released from a commercial breeding facility. She's had a rough life prior to entering rescue that has left her very untrusting of humans. She's scared, timid and skittish around humans. She'll need time, patience and lots of love to help her understand that not everyone is going to hurt her. Although Shelley is skittish around humans, she keeps close to you and wants to know where you are at all times. She seems to crave love and attention, but she just isn't quite ready yet. She'll need time and patience to help her come around. A calm, quiet home is a must for Shelley. Shelley Winters gets along well with other dogs. She does well with both small dogs and large calm dogs. She doesn't play with other dogs at this time, but seems to enjoy their company. Shelley is working on potty training. She prefers not to potty in the house and does well with regular trips outside. A fenced yard is required to help continue her potty training. Shelley Winters is a "good sized" girl. Whether you call it big boned or chubby, she's recently had babies and just hasn't had time to get her svelte figure back. She will need a home that will continue to work with her to get to a healthy weight so she feels her best. Shelley Winters is a work in progress. She will need lots of love and patience to help transform her to a wonderful addition to your family. The suggested adoption donation for Shelley Winters is a minimum of $600 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information

Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Beatrice is an energetic 2 year old (DOB 7/20/21) wirehaired Dachshund. She was recently released from a commercial breeding facility and is learning to enjoy her newfound freedom. Those bushy eyebrows and bright brown eyes will steal your heart in an instant! Beatrice is an energetic girl that loves playing with toys, playing with other small dogs and getting attention from her humans. Although Beatrice is adapting to life outside the breeding facility, she is still a bit scared of humans. She can be skittish and absolutely hates going outside. All the new sounds scare her, so she wants to go back inside where it's safe. She is just starting to learn to potty outside, so it is a work in progress and she will need time and patience in the potty training department. She will need a securely fenced yard for her safety. Beatrice loves being around other small dogs. She will need a small, playful resident dog in her forever home. She loves to run and wrestle. Having another dog helps with potty training and showing her the ropes of living in a home. Beatrice does well in her crate as long as she has plenty of soft blankets to snuggle into. Beatrice is still a bit skittish due to her past life, but she is quickly adapting to her new world. She is energetic, playful, loving and snuggly. A little patience on your part, and you will have a fun little companion in Beatrice. The suggested adoption donation for Beatrice is a minimum of $600 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Check out this little gem! Opal is a precious little 4 year old smooth dachshund recently released from a commercial breeding facility. This 10 lb girl has a sweet disposition and loves to snuggle. Although she is still a bit nervous and skittish from her past in the breeding industry, she's a happy little girl whose tail is always wagging. Her sweet personality and bright brown eyes will have you wrapped around her paw in no time. When she's not in your lap, Opal enjoys spending time outside, exploring, rolling in leaves and barking at anything and everything. (She is definitely a dachshund.) She will need a securely fenced yard so she can continue to safely explore her surroundings. She also likes watching out the window and doing "neighborhood watch" with her foster brother. Opal is a vocal little gal, so if you're looking for a quiet dog, Opal is not your girl. As she has become more confident, she is showing a spunky side. She can definitely hold her own at the fence line barking at the neighbor's dog. Opal is doing great with potty training as long as you take her outside regularly. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night and does well in her crate when you leave the home. She enjoys the company of her foster dachshund siblings and will need a small resident dog to help her settle into her new home. Since she's still a bit skittish around loud noises and sudden movements, no young children. Older, dog savvy kids should be fine. Opal has been fully vetted. Due to lack of nutrition and proper vet care the first few years of her life, Opal has dental disease issues. She lost 11 teeth during her dental cleaning. Her teeth will need to be properly cared for, including annual dental cleanings, to keep both Opal and her mouth healthy. The good news, the loss of teeth has not affected her ability to eat. (Again, she is a dachshund.) This snuggly but spirited little girl will be a fun addition to your family. Don't miss out on this precious gem. Apply today! The suggested adoption donation for Opal is a minimum of $600 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs. Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Willa is an absolutely adorable 4 yr old miniature wirehaired dachshund that was recently released from a commercial breeding facility. This petite girl weighs in at 9 lbs and is cute as a bug! Willa is finding that life outside the breeding industry is pretty awesome. Although she can be a bit anxious at first, once she trusts you, she is the sweetest little girl that enjoys spending time with her human, playing with toys and going on walks. Willa gets along well with other small dogs. She likes to play with them and will even initiate play, but does best with dogs her size that are not aggressive or overly energetic. If they're too aggressive or energetic, she gets overwhelmed. She will need a small resident dog to help her transition to life in a home. Willa is working on potty training, but it's still a work in progress. She needs frequent trips outside and a securely fenced yard to help facilitate her potty training. She isn't fond of the rain or cold weather (she is a dachshund!), so she will need sweaters, consistency and patience. Willa does well in her crate at night, but she does have some separation anxiety. She will do best with someone home more than gone. She needs to build up confidence to help with her anxiety. Socialization activities to build up her confidence such as walks and playdates will help her come out of her shell and show off her fun side. This happy little lovebug is ready for her happily ever after! Apply to adopt Willa today! The suggested adoption donation for Willa is a minimum of $600 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs. Story
Fiona is a shy sweet 4 year old Dachshund Beagle mix who would love a low energy home and !  She is very timid and fearful and needs someone who has patience to work with her to get her confidence up. Fiona will do best in a home with no kids. Are you the perfect match to give her a great life? Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com.  Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit.
