Story
If you want someone who acts like you’ve been gone for years every time you come home—Enzo is your guy. This little bundle of joy somehow goes a million miles an hour without actually moving, wiggling with excitement the second he sees his people. And then? The moment you sit down, he transforms into a full-time lap dog, ready for belly rubs and snuggles. Enzo is incredibly friendly and loves everyone he meets—kids, dogs, you name it. He’s even pretty unbothered by cats. He’s soft, small, portable, and happiest when he’s as close to you as physically possible (ideally under your chin, nuzzled into your neck like he’s still in the honeymoon phase of a relationship). He also loves sleeping in bed with his humans and will absolutely claim his spot. He’s crate trained and does well while his people are away. He’s picked up potty training quickly, though he may need a little encouragement to head outside in the mornings—he’d much rather stay cuddled up with you. Enzo is also working on leash walking… and let’s just say it’s a journey. He started by becoming one with the ground, then graduated to slithering like a snake, and now will walk until he feels pressure and dramatically sits to reassess life choices. Walking with another dog helps, and he’s making progress every day. A fenced yard would be ideal while he continues learning leash skills. He may need a belly band initially in a new home as he adjusts, but he has already shown that he can settle in quickly and move past marking behaviors. Enzo isn’t exactly an athlete—he tries to jump like he’s in an action movie but often ends up more like a cat-fail compilation. Stairs? Suspicious at best. But what he lacks in coordination, he more than makes up for in charm, affection, and pure joy. He’s not just a good boy—he’s the best boy. ✨ Three Things You Must Know About Enzo: He is incredibly affectionate—a true velcro dog who wants to be as close to you as possible. He’s still learning leash skills, so patience (and ideally a fenced yard) will help him succeed. He thrives on companionship, great with dogs, kids, and happy to be part of everything you do. Enzo is a male Rat Terrier/Dachshund mix who was was born approximately 3-31-24 and currently weighs 11 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, tested heartworm negative and given heartworm prevention. Adoption fee is $450 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. ***If you are serious about adopting, you must first complete and submit an application on our website. THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Reginald was recently released from a breeder and is taking applications for his forever home. As he is still new to rescue, we are giving him time to settle in and trust. We do know that he is extremely handsome, but lacks confidence in the world around him, therefore can be a little defensive when unsure or afraid. For this reason, he will be adopted to an adult-only home with a securely fenced yard and a resident dog to serve as a mentor and companion. The suggested adoption donation for Reginald is a minimum of $600 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information

Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Meet Nori! Nori is a 3-year-old black and tan female who has spent her life as a mama, and now it's finally her turn to be loved. She came to us from a breeding situation, and she is ready to find a home where she can shine as the cherished companion she was always meant to be. And cherished is exactly what she'll make you feel. Nori is an absolute love bug who has never met a stranger — though she may need a moment to decide that. Once she bonds with her person, she takes that job seriously. New faces may earn a bark or two at first, but give her a little time and she'll come around. If you glance her way, she'll trot right over and plant herself at your feet. Sit down and you'll be rewarded with enthusiastic kisses — before she finally melts into your lap for a long, cozy cuddle session. She is the ultimate binge-watching buddy. Nori is currently working on potty training and doing well. She simply loves being outside so much that the great outdoors can be a bit distracting — there are yards to patrol, sun patches to find, and people to keep an eye on. With patience and plenty of outdoor time, she'll get there. Leash training is next on her agenda, and she's eager to learn. She is currently fostered in a busy, happy home alongside dogs of all sizes and cats, so she knows how to share her space. She sleeps peacefully in her kennel each night. Nori has so much love to give. She just needs someone ready to receive it. Nori will do best with a securely fenced yard and a resident canine companion to serve as a friend and role model. The suggested adoption donation for Nori is a minimum of $600 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Elizabeth was born 2/16/26 and is a purebred smooth black and tan Dachshund. Being a typical puppy, Elizabeth is happy, energetic, curious and playful. She is seeking a loving family who can teach her and help mold her into the wonderful pet we know she can be. Elizabeth was born with a severe overbite or "parrot mouth" which does not inhibit her ability to eat or chew in any way. Elizabeth has age-appropraite vaccinations and due to her diminutive size will be adopted on a spay contract, which means the adopter will be responsible for having her spayed when or shortly before she reaches maturity, at their vet, and the adopter will incur the cost. Also, since she is so tiny we will not adopt her to families with children under the age of 10. The suggested adoption donation for Elizabeth is a minimum of $600 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. 5 years. That's 1,825 days. A dark dank shed. Stifling in the summer, freezing in the winter. Filthy and matted, loaded with fleas, ear infection and parasites. Nails so overgrown that he walked on the sides of his feet. Rotten teeth. Poor quality food (and probably not enough.) No vet care. Very little human contact. One other dog for companionship (his dad.) He wasn't even given a name. 5 whole years. His whole life. Then one day, the door to that shed opened and he will NEVER have go into it again. This boy now has a name and somehow, even through all of this, he is one of the happiest dogs you'll ever meet. Michael and his dad, Kirk Douglas (see what we did there?) were surrendered from a breeder recently. They spent their whole lives in a shed with very little interaction with people. But dogs, being truly amazing creatures, are so very forgiving. And these boys are 2 of the most affectionate, loving boys you'll ever meet. Michael is a very handsome 5 yr old, 14 lb, long hair black and tan dachshund. He is such a joyful boy that his tail never stops wagging. Velcro dog is an understatement. He will follow you EVERYWHERE and loves to give kisses. He likes to stick that long dachshund nose in whatever you're doing to try to "help." He'll help you with lawn work, laundry, watching TV, whatever you're doing, he's there. He will do best in a home where someone is home more than not as he gets attached to his person quickly. Michael does well with other small dogs. He loves to run and play with another dog his size, so would love a young active sibling to play with. He can be a bit possessive with food, so he is fed in his kennel. But he seems to do fine otherwise. He requires a confident, small resident dog to continue to "show him the ropes" and to help him gain some independence and confidence of his own. He enjoys spending time outside as long as you are outside with him. He gets a little nervous by himself, even if the other dogs are outside with him. A securely fenced yard is a must as he hasn't learned to walk on a leash yet. Michael does great in a kennel. He'll jump in for a treat. He's working on potty training. Spending 5 years in a shed, he never had any rules about where and when he could potty. He's quickly learning to potty outside, but as mentioned, he always wants to be with you, so you do need to go outside with him. He wears a belly band well, so that helps prevent potties in the house. Michael is a barker. (He had to have something to do in that shed for 5 years.) He has a deep, strong bark. He will alert you to any perceived danger. And that pesky squirrel running up the tree. And that neighbor kid riding by on his scooter. And....well, you get the picture. He wouldn't do well in an apartment. We don't think he would do well with small kids as they tend to be unpredictable and make a lot of noise. While Michael loves to follow his foster everywhere and be with her all the time, he can be nervous around new people. It seems he gets more nervous with people that are standing. And it seems possibly men, but we're not sure if it is men in general, or certain men. Honestly, we just don't know yet what it is that makes him nervous about some people, but go straight up to others for loves and pets. I guess spending the first 5 years of your life in a shed will do that to a guy. He will definitely need someone patient, calm and willing to work with him on building trust. Your efforts will be rewarded with lots of snuggles and kisses. If you would like to give this joyful boy a life that makes him forget his first 5 years in a shed, apply to adopt Michael at: at https://www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information The suggested adoption donation for Michael is a minimum of $300 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Solara is a 6-year-old red smooth-haired Dachshund with a gentle spirit and a story that has shaped who she is today. She came from a commercial breeding facility where life was not kind to her, and the experience left her very unsure about people. Because of that, Solara is extremely shy, skittish and startles easily. She prefers to be touched only on her own terms and needs time to feel safe. Despite everything she has been through, Solara is slowly learning that the world can be a better place. She has made progress in foster care, but she is still very fearful of people. What she needs most is a patient, understanding adopter who will let her move at her own pace and celebrate the small victories along the way. We don't know if she will ever be a snuggler, as she is very guarded, but we are hoping as she continues to make progress that she will be more open to pets and cuddles. Solara delights in some simple pleasures. She likes going outside, exploring the world in a safe environment, so a securely fenced yard is a requirement. She enjoys basking in the sun and doing squiggle rolls in the grass. Solara also does well with other dogs, who help her feel more comfortable and confident, so she will need a resident dog in her forever home. It is best to start with her on a leash at all times to ensure her safety and help with approachability. Solara is spayed, up to date on vaccines, on heartworm prevention, kennel trained and she is doing well with potty training. She would do best in a calm home, with a companion canine and a patient person (or family) who understands that trust takes time. With kindness, consistency, and a gentle approach, Solara has the potential to blossom into a devoted companion. The suggested adoption donation for Solara is a minimum of $400 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Story
He ain't nothing but a hound dog… or maybe a beagle, bulldog, corgi, dachshund… honestly, Elvis is a mystery mix with one very clear identity: Certified Love Machine. Elvis is the perfect medium-sized companion — sturdy, snuggly, and packed with personality. Just like his namesake, he loves giving kisses and turns into one big wiggle when he’s excited (which is often). Elvis is incredibly affectionate and truly just wants to be with his people. He’s young but already potty trained and kennel trained, making him an easy addition to a home ready for a fun, loving companion. He’s working on leash walking and improving with practice. He enjoys toys and can entertain himself, but he also loves playing with his foster brothers — even though they’re twice his size. And when playtime is over? Elvis is a full-on couch potato who would happily snuggle up beside you for the rest of the evening. He does have a curious nature and would benefit from a secure, strong fence, as exploring the world is very much on his agenda. Elvis is not a fan of cats. He has done well with kids he's been introduced to at our meet & greet events. Elvis isn’t subtle. He’s love, laughter, and wiggles all rolled into one. 🏡 The Ideal Furever Home Elvis would thrive in a home that wants an affectionate, people-oriented dog who enjoys both playtime and downtime. A securely fenced yard is recommended to safely satisfy his curiosity and love of exploring. He’d do well with other friendly dogs and would love a home where he can be part of daily life — whether that’s play sessions, couch snuggles, or simply following his humans around. 🐾 The Elvis Breakdown Breed Type: Mystery mix (hound/beagle/bulldog/corgi/dachshund vibes) Energy Level: Playful with couch potato tendencies Dog Compatibility: Loves other dogs Cat Compatibility: No cats Kid Compatibility: Not tested Housetrained: Yes Kennel Trained: Yes Leash Skills: In progress Fence: Fenced yard recommended Favorite Hobby: Kissing and wiggling Signature Move: Full-body wiggle when excited Overall Vibe: Affectionate goofball with superstar charm Elvis is a male Basset Hound/Jack Russell Terrier/All American Rescue Dog (our best guess of breeds) who was was born approximately 10-1-24 and currently weighs 37 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, tested heartworm negative and given heartworm prevention.
