Story
Penny is seemingly a dachshund/border collie mix who is very friendly and adaptable. Penny likes some active time but also enjoys snuggling/chilling inside. She walks well on a leash but will occasionally stop to look at something or sniff. She was quick to adapt to apartment living and has done well with meeting so many people and dogs in the building. She really likes kids and other dogs. She also plays with a kitten that lives down the hall, so she seems to enjoy other animals in general. She follows the "sit" command all the time and is often able to perform "stay" and "come". She has done well walking down to busy areas and greeting people and other dogs. She can be left alone in a crate for a few hours but can get frustrated if crated often. She sheds like a Border Collie. She has occasional accidents in the apartment but this may be due to the difficulty of getting her to the bathroom area of the apartment complex. She is learning to ring a bell to be let out and is getting it.

Story
Ophelia, or Opie, is the sweetest, most wiggly puppy you’ll ever meet! She knows basic commands, such as sit, lay, and wait, but is still working on potty training. She is 6 months old and she is losing her baby teeth, so her favorite things right now are her chew toys (and an unlucky pair of shoes) as well as walks and all the treats! She is quite the copy cat, and would succeed with an older dog to look up to and help her learn how to be a good dog, however, she wouldn’t mind getting all of your attention either! She is very snuggly, and loves to give kisses. She does well around small children and other dogs but hasn’t met a cat just yet! She has her Parvo shots, but will still need a visit for her rabies shots and microchipping.

Story
Ruby Sue (born around January of 2016) is a senior dachshund mix that came to Safe Haven after being surrendered to the municipal shelter due to the owner`s health issues. She is quite overweight, but she is slowly slimming down to a healthy weight. She likes to spend time with our volunteers and staff and enjoys slow and steady walks around the trail. Ruby Sue is looking for a forever family who will provide safety, security, and lots of TLC during her golden years.
