Story
Meet Franz.Franz is a 4–5 year old, 22-pound dachshund mix with a resilient heart and a joyful spirit. He came from the heartbreaking hoarding case involving 36 dogs living in terrible conditions, but somehow, Franz seems to have chosen happiness anyway.Black and white and full of personality, Franz is one of the more outgoing dogs from the group. He has a small bend in his legs that was determined to be a birth defect, but it does not slow him down at all. He runs, plays, explores, and enjoys life just like any other happy little dog. That is what makes Franz so special — for all he has been through, he seems to have let the past go. He is not shut down or bitter. He is simply excited to finally be a dog.Franz loves to play in the yard with everyone, from big 66-pound dogs to tiny 16-week-old puppies. He has a little more energy than some of the others from the case, but if you know dachshunds, it makes perfect sense. After he has had his fun, Franz is more than happy to cuddle up in blankets on the couch — or, even better, in your lap.He is clean and easy in a crate, both at night and during the day when needed. He does well eating in a group on Purina dog food, loves a good chew bone, and has shown no aggression toward anyone. Franz loves kids and teens, and unlike some of the others, he does not seem to mind men at all.He has had a brief introduction to cats, and his response was not aggression — quite the opposite. He got very low to the ground like he was trying to disappear into the floor. It was clear he was unsure, but he was gentle.Franz is also learning about leash walking. He does not pull, but he army crawls a little, like he is still figuring out what a leash is all about. It really seems like this may be his first experience with it. The good news is that he is learning fast, especially now that he realizes leash walks mean extra sniffing in new places — and that is one of his favorite things. He also does well with a low fence.Franz is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and preventions, and ready for a fresh start.More than anything, Franz is one of the most forgiving dogs you could ever meet. After living through such a hard past, he still greets the world with hope, playfulness, and trust. Like the rest of the dogs from this case, all Franz really wants now is comfort, love, and a family to call his own, fill out an adoption application.  His $325 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2694571##

Story
Meet Rolf.Rolf is a 6–7 year old, 26-pound chocolate dachshund with the shiniest red-brown coat and the gentlest soul. He came from the heartbreaking hoarding case involving 36 dogs living in awful conditions, and while he is safe now, it is clear that Rolf is still learning what it means to fully trust and simply be loved. He is such a sweet boy.Rolf is shy and curious all at once. He wants to be close. He wants affection. He wants to trust. You can see it in everything he does. He may not always take the initiative to climb into your lap, but he is more than happy to snuggle beside you in a dog bed or nestle into a big pile of blankets on the floor. And when he wants a little extra love, he will quietly come over and rest his head on your lap in the sweetest way.Rolf loves other dogs and does wonderfully with everyone from big 66-pound pit bulls to little 16-week-old puppies. He enjoys playing in the yard, rolling around with his brothers, and then settling down with a good chew bone. He is interested in toys like balls and seems like he wants to join in — he is just still figuring it all out. Underneath his caution, you can clearly see that classic dachshund playfulness waiting to fully bloom. When he bounces around with the other dogs, you catch a glimpse of the carefree little dog he is becoming. He has been doing well in foster care. He is clean in his crate and does well both at night and during the day when needed. He is also doing well going outside to potty. He eats well in a group, has been gaining weight on Purina dog food, and does fine with a low fence.Rolf is good with kids, teens, and women. Men still make him a little unsure, but he is making progress and has realized the men around him might come with treats, which has definitely helped. He enjoys being petted and is opening up more every single day, which makes it easy to believe that with patience and love, he will continue to grow in confidence. He also does well on a leash and does not pull, though if he gets scared, he will flatten himself to the ground and refuse to move. It is not stubbornness — it is fear — and it is just another reminder that Rolf is still learning that the world can be kind. His brief meeting with cats went well. He was curious and gently tried to play, but when the cats made it clear they were not interested, Rolf simply found a pile of blankets and laid down instead.Rolf is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and preventions, and ready for a home that will give him the time and tenderness he deserves. He is one of those dogs who quietly works his way into your heart. He does not demand attention. He does not make a fuss. He just stands there, sweet and hopeful, wanting so badly to love and trust. Like the rest of the dogs from this case, Rolf is proof that even after hardship, a dog can still choose softness.Rolf does not need perfection. He just needs patience, kindness, and someone willing to show him that love is safe.  Please fill out an adoption application to have him join your family.  His $250 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2694575##

Story
Meet Rupert.Rupert is a 2-year-old, 25-pound dachshund mix with the most beautiful brindle-and-white coat — almost tiger-striped with a cookies-and-cream look that makes him absolutely unforgettable. He may not look the most like a classic dachshund, but he definitely has that dachshund personality: bouncy, funny, social, and very ready to claim a lap when playtime is over.Rupert came from the heartbreaking hoarding case involving 36 dogs living in horrible conditions. He was one of the last two dogs pulled and even spent a little time in a shelter after being removed from the RV they were living in. For such a young dog to have already been through so much, Rupert has held onto his sweet, outgoing spirit in a way that is truly special. He is a very social little guy who wants to meet everyone. Rupert is especially good with kids, teens, and women. He is a little cautious with men at first, but he is learning they are not so scary after all. With each day, he continues to gain confidence.Rupert is also wonderful with other dogs and does well with everyone from a 66-pound pit bull to tiny 16-week-old puppies. He loves to play, but he is just as happy curling up in a lap or on a comfy blanket on the couch. He really is that perfect mix of playful and affectionate — an easygoing little lap goblin with just the right amount of bounce. He does well eating in a group on Purina dog food and is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on prevention. He is good in a crate both at night and during the day as needed. He may complain a little at first, but he settles down. He is not especially fond of being alone, and honestly, after the life he has had, that is easy to understand.Rupert has also had a brief introduction to cats. He sniffed them curiously, then quickly lost interest when they made it clear they were not thrilled about sharing their space. He was respectful and moved on.He walks well on a leash, though in true little-dog fashion, if something scares him, he will hit the ground and freeze. It is one of those small reminders that even the happiest, most social dogs from hard situations are still learning that the world is safe now.Rupert is one of those dogs who makes you smile. He has been through neglect, instability, and fear, yet he still greets life with curiosity, affection, and hope. Beneath his adorable looks and silly little dachshund ways is a dog who simply wants love, comfort, and a family of his own.Rupert is ready to leave his past behind and be someone’s beloved little sidekick. Please fill out an adoption application.  His $450 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2694611##

Story
Meet Arlo — a 3-year-old, 20-pound dachshund mix with a resilient spirit and the sweetest, easiest-going personality.Arlo came from a heartbreaking hoarding case involving 36 dogs living in terrible conditions, but you would never know it from the love he has to give. Despite his past, he is a fun, bouncy little guy with that classic dachshund charm. Short, squatty, and mostly black with gray spotting, Arlo enjoys being outside, sniffing around, and playing with everyone from big pit bulls to 16-week-old puppies. He is social, confident, and has handled new experiences better than many of the other dogs from the same situation. After he has had a little time to play, Arlo is more than happy to settle in beside you on the couch and snooze the day away. He is good in a crate, keeps it clean, and does well whether crated at night or during the day when needed. He is also good on a leash and does not pull.Because of his past, Arlo is still learning some basic house manners and what it means to live properly in a home, but he has learned quickly and has been an easy, laid-back dog to work with. He does well eating in a group, has done well on Purina dog food, and has already put on a pound or two.Arlo loves kids and quickly made friends with a 7-year-old at the vet. He adores women and is a little wary of men at first, but it is clearly fear-based, not aggression. With patience and gentle reassurance, he has already started coming to the men in the house, though still cautiously. He has also done wonderfully with cats — when he met one nose-to-nose, he tried to snuggle.Arlo has been neutered, is up to date on all vaccinations and preventions, and is ready for a home of his own. He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet, relaxed little dog who enjoys both outdoor sniffing adventures and long cuddle sessions on the couch.  Please fill out an adoption application to have Arlo join your family.  His $400 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2687186##

Story
Meet Otto.Otto is a 4–5 year old, 23-pound blue and white dachshund mix who came from the same heartbreaking hoarding situation involving 36 dogs living in horrible conditions. Of all the dogs from the case, Otto is one of the most frightened — and one of the most tenderhearted.Right now, Otto is still healing in more ways than one. He came in with skin issues from the neglect he lived in, but those are already being addressed and he is doing well. He is missing some hair at the moment, but it should grow back into a beautiful silver-blue coat. And when it does, his outer glow will finally start to match the sweet soul that is already there.Otto is scared, especially of men and loud noises. When he gets overwhelmed, he will hit the floor and freeze. It is clear that life was not kind to him before. But even with all that fear, Otto still wants love so badly. He looks at you with the most beautiful eyes, as if he is quietly asking, please just love me. And really, that is all he wants. He absolutely loves to cuddle in a lap, and you can tell that with patience and consistency, Otto is going to become a total lap dog. He gives the softest kisses and has such a gentle, loving nature. Even now, while he is still learning to trust humans, that sweetness shines through.Out in the yard, Otto transforms. He plays with the other dogs like a normal, bouncy dachshund and seems so much more carefree. He is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes, from 66-pound pit bulls to little 16-week-old puppies. He can go from happily playing outside to curling up on the couch for snuggles without missing a beat.Otto does well eating in a group on Purina dog food and loves a good chew bone. He is clean in his crate at night and during the day when needed. He does have a little separation anxiety and may howl some at first, but he settles quickly. He also does well with a low fence and walks nicely on a leash. He has had a brief encounter with a cat, and it went very well. He sniffed curiously, trying to figure out what this new creature was, and when the cat hissed at him, he simply backed up with a look that seemed to say, well, that was not very friendly, and went to lay down.Otto is the kind of dog whose transformation is going to be incredible for the person willing to give him time. Beneath the fear is a deeply loving, gentle little dog who is just waiting to feel safe enough to fully bloom.  For someone with patience, Otto’s glow-up is going to be amazing.  He does not need perfection. He does not need much.  He just needs love, reassurance, and someone willing to show him that the hard part of his life is finally over.  Please fill out an adoption fee if you would like him to join your family.  His $325 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2694580##

Story
Meet Cinnamon If sweetness could be bottled up and turned into a dog, her name would be Cinnamon. Cinnamon is about 5 years old and weighs around 20 pounds full grown — the perfect little size for just about any home.  She is definitely a dachshund and hound mix of some sort. We keep hearing bluetick mix. But what makes her truly special isn’t her size… it’s her heart.   Cinnamon came from the hoarding case in Louisiana where 36 dogs were living inside an RV with no electricity and no running water. Despite coming from a life with no structure, no stability, and very little comfort, Cinnamon is one of the most gentle, kind, and grateful dogs you will ever meet. She is:    •    Heartworm negative    •    Spayed    •    Up to date on vaccines and preventions    •    Great with other dogs    •    Gentle with children    •    Doing amazing with crate training    •    Learning structure and routine beautifully She only had a couple accidents the first few days (which is completely expected considering she came from zero structure), and since then she has done wonderfully. Everyone who meets these hoarding dogs says the same thing:They are unbelievably sweet, loving, gentle, and grateful.Cinnamon is the perfect example of that. She has the softest soul and the kindest personality. She just wants to be near you, be loved, and finally live the life she always deserved. Cinnamon has been through a lot, but you would never know it by the way she loves. She deserves a home where she will be cherished, spoiled, and loved for the rest of her life. If you are looking for a gentle, loving, loyal companion, Cinnamon is your girl.  Please fill out an adoption application if you would like to have her join your family.  Her $300 adoption fee covers medical up to adoption to include vaccines, spay, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2694563##
