Story
Cecilia - 2 years & 13lbs, Chi Mix, Spayed  Our Team Says: Cecilia was rescued from a pretty grim hoarding case alonside a bunch of other dogs. 10 of them are in our care. These pups need patient adopters who can go at the dogs pace as they are learning what it's like to be a dog for the first time.  Their Foster Parent Says: "Cecilia is slowly adjusting to her new life and making sweet progress every day. When she first arrived, she was very scared and spent most of her time tucked away in her little corner, but even then, she showed her brave side, she would quietly come out for pieces of fresh chicken (her absolute favorite!) before retreating back to her safe spot. Now, she’s starting to open up more, and we just went on our very first walk together yesterday, which felt like a big milestone. She especially enjoys gentle chin and chest scratches and is beginning to seek out affection in her own cautious, tender way. Cecilia is still a bit unsure about the busy city and all its new sights and sounds, but she’s incredibly observant and loves watching the world go by from the window—it’s one of her favorite pastimes. Her daily routine is pretty calm: she eats well, uses her pee pads reliably, and spends time resting, watching the street, and slowly building confidence. She’s the kind of dog who just needs a little patience and a lot of kindness." TOLERANCE TO CITYAdjusting to the city – Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well in quiet areas and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue). Would prefer a home in a calmer part of the city or the suburbs. POTTY TRAINING Sort of -- On the way and learning! May be using wee pads (is a puppy or a brand new rescue)COMFORT LEVEL WITH STRANGERSWallflower – Very shy with new people and takes a while to warm up. Afraid when unfamiliar people try to say hi on the street, hides or shrinks back when new people visit the home.BEHAVIOR WITH CHILDREN (always requires adult supervision): Still unknown, but Cecilia is very timid and easily startled by sudden movements or loud noises. Because of this, she would likely do best with calm, gentle children who can respect her space and move slowly around her. Quick or rough approaches can scare her, so she needs a patient and quiet introduction to feel safe. SOCIAL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER DOGS:Still a bit unsure, but showing gentle and appropriate curiosity. During walks, Cecilia has had a few opportunities to greet other dogs and typically approaches calmly for a polite sniff. She does best with other dogs who are similarly calm and respectful. If a dog is too energetic, jumpy, or comes on too strong, Cecilia can get overwhelmed quickly and will try to run away in fear. She’s not reactive or aggressive—just sensitive and easily startled. Would do fine in a home with a that is her size or smaller. LEASH MANNERS: Getting the hang of it – Cecilia is still learning the ropes when it comes to walking on a leash and likely hasn’t had much prior experience, but she’s making steady progress. When she feels safe and comfortable, she does a great job following along and staying close. She’s not much of a puller and is generally easy to guide, though she may hesitate or stop when something startles her. CUDDLE BUG LEVEL:Lower – Independent, mostly keeps to themself (may be a new rescue or shy, this could change)JUMPING ON PEOPLE TO SAY HELLO:No, she is pretty calm. Would just look and observe. CRATE TRAININGNot at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intakeHow did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2717702##

Story
This level of cuteness is honestly a little ridiculous - her long, hound-dog ears alone should come with a warning!  Add in the sweetest personality ever, and you’ve got a tiny heart-stealer who knows exactly how to win you over.  • Josephine / 4 months old / 10 lbs / Dachshund-Bassett-Bluetick Coonhound mix - basically some small hound• Gorgeous coloring on her chest and your built-in shadow, who'll happily follow you everywhere • Loooooves cuddling - like, really loves cuddling - with other dogs, all humans, and is great with kids• Wee wee pad trained (never misses!), learning outside like a pro, and sleeps quietly through the night (after a few dramatic “tuck me in” howls )• Want to be part of the action and is surprisingly athletic (this little girl can jump!) with a nose that's always to the ground. • Microchipped, vaccinated, and will be spayed at 6 months. Located on Long Island. Adoption fee is $700. She's a super easy puppy who's been an absolute dream in her foster home and is really the total package: sweet, silly, snuggly, and just the right amount of hound dog charm. ##2717698##

Good with dogs,
Story
Hi, my name is Emmett. A studious name for a very smart boy. I’m an 8 year old Dachshund that takes his job very seriously. I am a professional lap warmer. That’s right, 13 pounds of warm love on your lap, near your lap, at your feet, you name it- I’m available to provide it all. And lucky for you, I charge no fee! Free lap loving! What gets better than that? All I ask in return is a warm bed and soft food. See, I lost most of my teeth after being neglected so it’s only soft food for me from here on out. No problem there, I love it all. I also need eye drops, but they don’t bother me one bit. My brother Tango and I recently went through a tough time being abandoned by our family. But we’re bouncing back. In fact, we barely missed a step! I love meeting new people and just want to show them what love is all about. I walk well on leash and whenever you’re ready to go out on the town, I’m ready. I also enjoy being around other dogs so if you want to meet up with some doggie friends, I’d be happy to join.If you love a lap dog with some little mini legs and a BIG heart, come meet me!! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Good with dogs,
Story
This scrumptious 8 pound 8 year old love muffin Dachsund is looking for his happy ever after. If you are looking to fill your dance card then Tango is the dog for you! Tango and his brother Emmett came to us from a local abandonment case. He was loved his whole life but when their family moved they left them behind in a dark basement without food or water. But Tango is a fighter. Despite everything this dear little chap has been through, he is still overflowing with trust, love and devotion. He will look at you like you are the sun, the moon and the stars because to him, you are. Just one week into foster and he is already gaining weight, his coat is growing back in and he’s ready to live his best life. He’s great with every living thing, including but not limited to: people, dogs, cats, and gentle kids. Whilst his name is Tango he also does a very impressive Quick Step when he sees you reach for his leash, he LOVES his walks, and when it’s dinner time his excited little paws do a very good impression of Lord of the Dance! He needs eye drops twice a day which he takes like a champ, and he might be toothless and gummy but he sure loves his yummies and soft food. He is a low maintenance boy, just feed him, walk him, snuggle him, repeat. Tango is a precious little guy just looking for his forever snuggle buddy, if you think that could be you, the line forms to the left…. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). Story
Carolina - 2 year & 13lbs, Chi Mix, Spayed This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience required:BEGINNER – “Beginner” doesn’t necessarily mean easy as all dogs will require time, work, and patience, but we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale because of their breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.  Energy level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet because this pup is brand new to us. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age carefully.  Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico.
