Story
Naomi is the kind of little dog who makes you stop, smile, and fall in love all in the same moment. This beautiful Dachshund mix girl has the most heart-melting smile and a gentle, loving spirit that quietly reaches right into your heart. At just 1 year old and full grown at a slim 14 pounds, she’s the perfect petite companion—with a limousine, extra-long little body that only adds to her charm. What we love most are those adorable short legs, with her tiny toes turned outward, making her absolutely unforgettable.   Naomi’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. She was rescued by a kind woman who travels the country in a tractor trailer, giving dogs like Naomi a chance at a better life. For days, Naomi rode along in the cab, surrounded by other small dogs all hoping for rescue. When Critter Cavalry stepped in to save her and others, her new chapter finally began.   At first, Naomi wasn’t sure who to trust—but watching her slowly open up has been something truly special. Day by day, her sweet personality has blossomed as she’s learned that she is safe, loved, and finally home. She does wonderfully with other dogs and is playful, gentle, and beautifully mannered. She’s housebroken, walks nicely with a harness, and carries herself with a quiet grace that makes you want to protect her forever.   Naomi is more than just a pretty face—she’s a little soul who has learned to trust again, and she’s ready to give her whole heart to someone who will cherish her. She’s healthy, spayed, heartworm negative, and completely ready to start her forever life.   If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion with beauty, sweetness, and that irresistible low-rider charm, Naomi is your girl. Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to bring this special little lady home.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 4, 2026, 9:42 pm

Story
Meet Otto.Otto is a 4–5 year old, 23-pound blue and white dachshund mix who came from the same heartbreaking hoarding situation involving 36 dogs living in horrible conditions. Of all the dogs from the case, Otto is one of the most frightened — and one of the most tenderhearted.Right now, Otto is still healing in more ways than one. He came in with skin issues from the neglect he lived in, but those are already being addressed and he is doing well. He is missing some hair at the moment, but it should grow back into a beautiful silver-blue coat. And when it does, his outer glow will finally start to match the sweet soul that is already there.Otto is scared, especially of men and loud noises. When he gets overwhelmed, he will hit the floor and freeze. It is clear that life was not kind to him before. But even with all that fear, Otto still wants love so badly. He looks at you with the most beautiful eyes, as if he is quietly asking, please just love me. And really, that is all he wants. He absolutely loves to cuddle in a lap, and you can tell that with patience and consistency, Otto is going to become a total lap dog. He gives the softest kisses and has such a gentle, loving nature. Even now, while he is still learning to trust humans, that sweetness shines through.Out in the yard, Otto transforms. He plays with the other dogs like a normal, bouncy dachshund and seems so much more carefree. He is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes, from 66-pound pit bulls to little 16-week-old puppies. He can go from happily playing outside to curling up on the couch for snuggles without missing a beat.Otto does well eating in a group on Purina dog food and loves a good chew bone. He is clean in his crate at night and during the day when needed. He does have a little separation anxiety and may howl some at first, but he settles quickly. He also does well with a low fence and walks nicely on a leash. He has had a brief encounter with a cat, and it went very well. He sniffed curiously, trying to figure out what this new creature was, and when the cat hissed at him, he simply backed up with a look that seemed to say, well, that was not very friendly, and went to lay down.Otto is the kind of dog whose transformation is going to be incredible for the person willing to give him time. Beneath the fear is a deeply loving, gentle little dog who is just waiting to feel safe enough to fully bloom.  For someone with patience, Otto’s glow-up is going to be amazing.  He does not need perfection. He does not need much.  He just needs love, reassurance, and someone willing to show him that the hard part of his life is finally over.  Please fill out an adoption fee if you would like him to join your family.  His $325 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2694580##

Story
Meet Hans.Hans is 7 years old, 29 pounds, and the biggest of the dogs we took in from a heartbreaking hoarding case involving 36 dogs living in horrible conditions. While we may never know everything he saw or endured, when he looks at you with his big, sorrowful eyes, you can tell he has been through something hard.  And yet, Hans is gentle. He is the kind of dog that does not ask for much. He is not demanding. He is not wild. He is not needy in the loud kind of way. He simply wants to be close, to feel safe, and to know that someone will be kind to him. More than anything, Hans wants a soft place to land.He has the soul of an old wise man. He does not spend much time playing like the younger dogs. Instead, he quietly watches over everyone around him with so much patience and calm. He is wonderful with other dogs, from big 66-pound dogs to tiny 16-week-old puppies. He does not mind kids, teens, or men, though he seems to prefer women. He is just incredibly easygoing. What Hans truly loves is comfort. A lap to crawl into. A soft place to rest. A chew bone. A treat. Peace. Safety. Love.He is clean in his crate and does well both at night and during the day. Sometimes he will let out a little howl to let you know he is not thrilled about it, but he settles quickly. He has been great in the house with no accidents. He walks well on a leash, does fine with a low fence, eats well in a group, and has been doing well on Purina dog food.Hans has had limited experience with cats, but when introduced, he was not aggressive at all. In fact, when a cat hissed at him, he quickly retreated to his foster’s lap in a clear little “save me” moment. He is low energy and seems to be soaking up every bit of comfort foster care has given him. After the life he came from, it feels like Hans is finally getting to exhale.Dogs like Hans break your heart a little, because you can see that he has known hardship. But dogs like Hans also put it back together, because even after everything, he still wants to trust. He still wants to love. He still believes there might be someone out there for him.All Hans really wants is someone to love him.Someone who will look past the sadness in his eyes and see the sweet, gentle, faithful dog underneath.Someone who will give him the safe, quiet life he has always deserved.Hans is ready for his soft place to land.  Please fill out an adoption application to have him join your family.  His $200 adoption fee covers medical care to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2687189##

Story
Meet Gregor.Gregor is a 4-year-old, 17-pound black and white dachshund mix with a sweet soul, a funny little bounce, and so much love to give. He has a bit of a hound look to him, but make no mistake — he acts just like a dachshund in all the best ways: playful, easygoing, affectionate, and happiest when he is curled up in a lap soaking up love.Gregor came from the heartbreaking hoarding case involving 36 dogs living in horrible conditions. He was also one of the last two dogs pulled from that situation, which meant he spent even more time in uncertainty before finally making it to safety, including some extra time in the shelter after being removed. Knowing that makes his sweetness and resilience even more remarkable.Like so many from that situation, Gregor arrived needing both physical and emotional healing. He still has some weight to gain, and his skin issues are being treated. He is missing some hair right now, but it already looks like it is starting to grow back in. Even in this stage of recovery, Gregor is beautiful — and his resilience shines brighter than anything else.He is such a sweetheart.Gregor plays easily with every dog he meets, from a 66-pound blue pit bull to tiny 16-week-old puppies. He loves to play, but he also loves to lounge on the couch or, better yet, in your lap. He has not shown one ounce of aggression — only gratitude for being safe, fed, and cared for. It is impossible not to be moved by how much love he still has to give after everything he has been through. He does well eating in a group on Purina dog food and is good with kids, teens, and women. He is still learning that men are safe too. He can be a little wary of them at first, but it is clearly fear, not anything else, and he is already making progress.Gregor is clean in his crate at night and during the day when needed. He may complain a little about being crated, but he settles. He also has some separation anxiety, which is understandable given his past. After surviving neglect, instability, and spending extra time in the shelter, it makes sense that he wants to stay close to the people who make him feel safe.He is doing well with a short fence and on a leash. If something scares him, he will hit the ground and freeze, but with calm encouragement he recovers quickly. That says so much about who Gregor is — even when he is afraid, he is trying. He wants so badly to trust. He wants so badly to be loved. He has also met cats. He tried to sniff them, and when they hissed at him, he immediately whined to be picked up and placed in a lap. He was more frightened than anything, and his reaction was pure softness.Gregor is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, and on prevention. With patience, kindness, and a little time, he is going to make an amazing companion. Truthfully, he already is. The fact that he is this loving, this gentle, and this resilient so soon after everything he has survived says everything about what a special dog he is.  Gregor wants to be loved so badly, and he has so much love to give in return. He is safe now. He is healing now.  Now he just needs someone to choose him forever.  Please fill out an adoption application to have him join your family.  His $350 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2694595##

Story
Meet Rolf.Rolf is a 6–7 year old, 26-pound chocolate dachshund with the shiniest red-brown coat and the gentlest soul. He came from the heartbreaking hoarding case involving 36 dogs living in awful conditions, and while he is safe now, it is clear that Rolf is still learning what it means to fully trust and simply be loved. He is such a sweet boy.Rolf is shy and curious all at once. He wants to be close. He wants affection. He wants to trust. You can see it in everything he does. He may not always take the initiative to climb into your lap, but he is more than happy to snuggle beside you in a dog bed or nestle into a big pile of blankets on the floor. And when he wants a little extra love, he will quietly come over and rest his head on your lap in the sweetest way.Rolf loves other dogs and does wonderfully with everyone from big 66-pound pit bulls to little 16-week-old puppies. He enjoys playing in the yard, rolling around with his brothers, and then settling down with a good chew bone. He is interested in toys like balls and seems like he wants to join in — he is just still figuring it all out. Underneath his caution, you can clearly see that classic dachshund playfulness waiting to fully bloom. When he bounces around with the other dogs, you catch a glimpse of the carefree little dog he is becoming. He has been doing well in foster care. He is clean in his crate and does well both at night and during the day when needed. He is also doing well going outside to potty. He eats well in a group, has been gaining weight on Purina dog food, and does fine with a low fence.Rolf is good with kids, teens, and women. Men still make him a little unsure, but he is making progress and has realized the men around him might come with treats, which has definitely helped. He enjoys being petted and is opening up more every single day, which makes it easy to believe that with patience and love, he will continue to grow in confidence. He also does well on a leash and does not pull, though if he gets scared, he will flatten himself to the ground and refuse to move. It is not stubbornness — it is fear — and it is just another reminder that Rolf is still learning that the world can be kind. His brief meeting with cats went well. He was curious and gently tried to play, but when the cats made it clear they were not interested, Rolf simply found a pile of blankets and laid down instead.Rolf is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and preventions, and ready for a home that will give him the time and tenderness he deserves. He is one of those dogs who quietly works his way into your heart. He does not demand attention. He does not make a fuss. He just stands there, sweet and hopeful, wanting so badly to love and trust. Like the rest of the dogs from this case, Rolf is proof that even after hardship, a dog can still choose softness.Rolf does not need perfection. He just needs patience, kindness, and someone willing to show him that love is safe.  Please fill out an adoption application to have him join your family.  His $250 adoption fee covers medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2694575##

Story
Puddles – the gentle soul who survived the storm Some dogs come into rescue with stories that stay with you forever… and Puddles is one of them. At just 6 years old, this sweet dachshund mix has already endured more than most ever should. She was one of 36 dogs rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation—confined to a small camper, living in filth, and missing out on the love every dog deserves. And yet… somehow, Puddles came out of it with her heart still wide open. There isn’t a mean bone in her body. She has shown nothing but kindness to every person and animal she meets. While she seems to feel safest with women, her gentle, loving nature shines through in everything she does. You’ll see it in her soft eyes—the kind that tell a story, but still choose trust. Puddles is that perfect in-between kind of dog. She’s calm and easygoing, but every now and then her playful side peeks out—especially when she’s running through the grass, ears flopping in the wind, finally feeling free. It’s in those moments you realize… she’s learning what it means to just be a dog. She’s a simple girl with simple wishes:A soft bed (or even better—a cozy blanket),A full belly (she loves her food!),And most of all… a safe place right next to her person. Her favorite place to sleep? Curled up in bed beside you, where she knows she belongs. Puddles is crate trained, keeps her space clean, and is wonderfully quiet. Every so often, she’ll let out a soft little whimper—not out of distress, but just to say, “Hey… I’d really love to be close to you right now.” And honestly, once you meet her, you won’t want to be far from her either. She’s done well with cats and gets along peacefully with other dogs, making her an easy addition to a loving home. Puddles is heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, and will be spayed on April 17th—ready to start her next chapter. After everything she’s been through, Puddles isn’t looking for anything extraordinary. She’s just looking for peace… for softness… for someone who will show her that the storm is finally over.  She’s waited long enough.  Now she just needs her person to bring her home please fill out an adoption application if you would like to have her join your family.  Her $275 adoption fee covers medical care to include vaccines, spay, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. ##2687190##
