Story
They call her Momma, a name that carries so much warmth, though she is still waiting to feel that same warmth in a home of her own. With her beautiful russet coat, her white-tipped paws, and those expressive, deep brown eyes, Momma is a masterpiece of quiet devotion. Her StoryMomma hasn't had the easiest path, and because of that, she views the world with a bit of caution. She is a sensitive, shy soul who finds the big, loud world a little overwhelming at times. She isn’t the type of dog who will jump into your arms the moment you meet, but for the right person, she offers something much more profound: the gift of earned trust. Why You’ll Fall in LoveThe "Slow Bloom": There is nothing more rewarding than the moment Momma decides you are her "safe person." Watching her tail give its first tentative wag or seeing her lean her head against your hand for the first time is a feeling like no other.A Quiet Companion: Momma isn't looking for wild adventures or chaotic parties. She wants to be your shadow during a quiet afternoon, a warm presence at your feet while you read, and a loyal friend who listens to your every word.Gentle Spirit: She has a soft energy that brings a sense of calm to a room. She just needs a place where she can finally let her guard down and breathe.Momma’s WishlistMomma is looking for a specific kind of hero. Her perfect match is:Patient & Kind: Someone who understands that "shy" doesn't mean "unloving"—it just means "take it slow."A Peaceful Environment: A quiet home (perhaps without very young children) where she can feel secure.A True Best Friend: Someone who will celebrate her small victories, like the first time she asks for a treat or masters a new routine.

Very sweet 3 year old girl. Absolutely no issues other than wanting lots of love and attention. Needs a ramp due to her short legs and on the heavy size. But an absolute sweetheart 💕. I have health issues which makes it difficult to give her the attention she so very much deserves.

Story
Rosie came to us from a rural county shelter. She was surrendered to them after being found in a Walmart parking lot. She is approximately 1 year old, already spayed, dachshund mix. Rosie weighs about 24 lbs and is up to date on all vaccines. Rosie's ideal household would be one with lots of love and attention. Rosie loves to use her nose to sniff around outside and is housebroken. She is content cuddling next to you on the couch or going for an afternoon stroll. Rosie's current foster reports that she is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to relieve herself. The foster home that Rosie is currently in has both dogs and cats. Rosie can be timid when meeting new people and new animals. She warms up quickly with pets and treats.

Story
Breeanna is a sweet 1-year-old dachshund mix who weighs around 15 pounds and is ready for her forever home! Breeanna enjoys going for walks and does well on a leash.  She also rides nicely in the car, making her an easy pup to take along on adventures.  At home, she has a playful side and loves squeaky toys, but she truly shines during quiet moments when she can curl up in a warm, fuzzy blanket for snuggle time. She gets along well with other dogs and will do great in a home with canine companions, but will also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the household. Then she can soak up all the love and attention.   Breeanna may be a bit shy when first meeting new people, but with a little patience and reassurance she warms up quickly and soon shows her affectionate, loving personality. She is also crate and house trained and does best with a consistent routine. Breeanna will thrive in a home that can provide exercise, structure, and a safe environment.  If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart who enjoys both playtime and peaceful cuddle sessions Breeanna could be the perfect match for you.  She’s ready to bring love, comfort, and companionship to the lucky family who welcomes her home.   If you are interested in adopting Breeanna, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **January 27, 2026, 5:48 pm
