Story
Meet ZigZag — The Adventurous Sausage Dog with a Big Heart! Name: ZigZag Breed: Dachshund (aka Sausage Dog) Age: 5 years old Sex: Male / Neutered ZigZag is a lively, loving little guy who’s full of personality! He’s happiest when he’s outside — playing in the snow, splashing in the water, or joining you on a paddleboard adventure. He loves car rides and road trips, and he’s always ready to explore by your side. He’s incredibly affectionate and adores humans. He’ll follow you everywhere, wants cuddles all the time, and learns new tricks quickly because he’s super smart! ZigZag enjoys walks, fetch, and solving food puzzles. He’s adaptable, easygoing with routines, and very loyal to his person. What ZigZag needs: A calm, patient human who understands dachshund behavior and is willing to help him work through some of his “spicy sausage” habits. He also needs to lose some weight and his future family will need to be aware of the sensitive backs that the breed has, to be sure that he doesn't do too many stairs or jumping off furniture and needs to be picked up in certain circumstances to help avoid any herniated discs or back issues. ZigZag’s quirks: He barks — a lot! He gets talkative when he hears noises, sees squirrels, or just feels like announcing something. He doesn’t do well with cats or other dogs and prefers a quiet, adult-only home. ZigZag can sense anxiety, so he thrives best with a confident, relaxed person who can help him feel secure. He’s got a stubborn streak (like any good dachshund!), but with time, patience, and love, ZigZag will be the most loyal and cuddly adventure buddy you could ask for. Ready to welcome a brave little explorer who’ll steal your heart (and your blanket)? Zigzag is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and sterilized and will come with his medical booklet. Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months. We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things!
