Story
In December of 2024, there were three puppies abandoned in a garbage bag at a disposal site. It could have ended in a horrific accident, but we were able to save these young pups. After spending some time at the city shelter, we were able to find a foster for our In-Jung. At the first foster home, it was a young 30s foster single lady. When she came back from work one day, she noticed that In Jung was scratching his eyes a lot. We sent him for an exam the next day and after a few days of testing and monitoring, the doctor recommended surgery to remove the eye. In-Jung is a healthy, energetic, and incredibly affectionate young Dachshund/Terrier mix with a bright personality and a love for life. His sparkling eyes, playful spirit, and endless affection make him impossible not to love. He enjoys giving kisses, cuddling on the couch, and asking for belly rubs. Intelligent and eager to learn, he already knows sit, down, crate, and wait, and he picks up new routines very quickly. While he may be a little shy around unfamiliar people or loud noises at first, he adapts quickly with patient guidance and positive experiences. He loves nose work games, enjoys being close to his family, has no separation anxiety, and sees his crate as a safe place. With his loving personality, playful energy, and willingness to learn, In-Jung is ready to become a wonderful lifelong companion for an active family. Medical Notes: one eye surgically removed Good with women: Yes Good with men: Yes, a little shy of men at first but warms up quickly Good with kids: Yes, he has become comfortable around children. He shows little interest in them but is not fearful or aggressive. Good with dogs: Yes, he is very social and eager to meet other dogs. He loves initiating play by pawing and playfully bumping into them. Good with cats: Unknown, he has shown little interest when passing cats outdoors House trained: Yes, primarily indoor potty trained using pee pads, but will also go to the bathroom outdoors during exercise Crate trained: Yes, he knows the "crate" command, sleeps in his crate, and uses it as a safe place whenever he feels nervous Energy level: Med/high - In-Jung is an active, athletic puppy with excellent stamina who loves to run, play, and explore Barker: Sometimes, generally quiet indoors but will bark when he hears unfamiliar noises or movement outside the home or near the dog park Flight risk: Moderate, he may try to squeeze through gates or dart out an open door to stay close to people. He understands "sit" and can wait at doors, but careful supervision is recommended. Food aggressive: No, he has never shown resource guarding. He may try to grab treats quickly if he thinks they'll be taken away, but he responds well to the "wait" command and patiently waits for permission. Walks on leash: In progress, he is becoming comfortable on leash. He occasionally chews the leash at first but settles quickly. He currently goes for walks every other day and also enjoys about 30 minutes of running and enrichment games at home. Rides well in car: Yes Destructive: No destructive behaviors have been reported Needs a home with a yard: Not required, but he would certainly enjoy a securely fenced yard where he can run and burn off his energy Needs a home with another dog: Not required, but he would likely enjoy having a playful canine companion because he loves interacting with other dogs Can live in an apartment: Yes, he can do well in an apartment if he receives plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation. His family should be aware that he may alert bark at unfamiliar noises outside. Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Story
Flash is almost the perfect dog. He is friendly, affectionate, incredibly smart, completely housebroken, and not destructive. He loves attention, cuddling up next to his people, and having his own special spot on the couch-preferably with a soft blanket. When Flash is happy to see you, his excitement shows in his whole-body wiggle! He is content to spend hours relaxing and snoozing, but he is equally happy to play or head out for a walk. Flash has a gentle, loving nature and enjoys being part of whatever his people are doing. Flash is the kind of dog who makes himself right at home and brings warmth, companionship, and plenty of personality to a household. He does not enjoy being picked up, he would rather sit beside you than on your lap, and table food does not impress him much, but love and attention definitely do. Important: Flash Is an Escape Artist Flash is remarkably clever and can find or create ways out of surprisingly secure areas. He once escaped by swimming across a lake to a neighbor's property. His new family will want to be aware of his talent for adventure and consider what arrangements will help keep him safe, including secure fencing, carefully monitored outdoor time, and secure equipment for walks. He is happiest when he is with his people, but he can't help his himself! If he sees an escape route is is GONE! Aside from his adventurous streak, Flash is an exceptionally easy, loving companion with a truly wonderful personality. He is affectionate, bright, well behaved, and a joy to have around. Flash has so much to offer the family who welcomes him, and he has all the makings of an amazing family dog. Medical issues: no issues Neck size (for collar): 13 inches Chest circumference (for harness): 21 inches Height (from top of head): 16 inches Length (from nose to base of tail): 26 inches Crate size recommended: medium Good with adults: yes Good with kids: 12 years and older recommended Good with other dogs: yes Good with cats: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes, but prefers not being crated Energy level: medium Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: occasional Flight risk: YES!!! Food aggressive: no Current food: Gentle Giant Walks on leash: yes Leash reactive to people or dogs: no Rides well in car: yes Destructive: no Needs a home with a yard: yes, he loves to roll in the grass Needs a home with another dog: he likes dogs, but I think he would be ok as an only dog as well Can live in an apartment: no, he doesn't bark often but when he does it can be loud Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
