Who wants to head into the 100 acres woods for an adventure? Christopher Robin is ready to take you there! This little dachshund mix has the most adorable little face and comical expressions. He is 3-4 yrs old and is still learning about being a proper pet but is doing well with his crate training and is good on a leash. We are sure once in a home with more attention he will come around and be a loving companion for many years. Dog, cat and kid safe but would probably prefer a quiet home type. Chonk is a dachshund terrier mix he was adopted in February from the BAS and i have all his paperwork and his rabies tag aswell. i recently took him in from his previous owner that adopted him from BAS but he’s not fond of my 1 year old and i wanting a puppy for her since she loves animals, he’s very loving and sweet loves to go in walks and be outside. he has no known health issues other than being a bit overweight. i can’t keep him much longer since there is also tension with my male cat who’s been hiding since he came to live with us.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Dillon! Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. If you are not able to adopt, please consider donating to AAMR in my name to help with my extended care in rescue. Special needs pups are just that ... special ... and they just need special heroes to come to their rescue.  Have you tried on your hero cape lately? We don’t know a lot about Dillon's early life other than a Good Samaritan took him in to keep him safe after he appeared to have been abandoned on a rural road.  His Good Sam said he sat in one spot on the road for several days and appeared to be waiting for his ‘ride’ to come back to get him.  After about 4 days, he gave up and went looking for food and water, which he found in her garage! We do know that Dillon has some social anxiety issues and he can go from happy to distraught and nippy in situations with multiple people moving around in an area.  He has always done fine in his original foster home, but had a few 'incidents' in an adopting home, and he was returned to AAMR.  It is sad because Dillon is a very sweet and loving little guy ... until his anxiety takes over.  'Stranger Danger' is very real to him and in his mind, he needs to protect himself. We are not really sure of Dillon’s breed mix.  He has a dachshund-like body (long and low) with the head of a tiny yellow lab!  Dillon really deserves a family who wants to help him develop some confidence and some manners so he can be the lucky dog he is meant to be.  He is very excitable and vocal when left alone for too long and will not be the best apartment resident.  Dillon's wish list includes 1) a fenced yard, 2) an low-key, settled family willing to spend time with him and accept his limitations and 3) people to cuddle with every day who will teach him how to be the best boy ever.  Could that be you?Dillon does well with most other dogs, so having another confident, friendly dog in the home may be good for him.  Absolutely no children in the home.  If there are children visiting the home, it will be best to give Dillon a safe, out-of-the-way area to rest in his crate while the children are around.  They make him very anxious. Please read the rest of Dillon's bio below so you can learn more about him.Approximate age/birthdate: ~ early 2015 Weight/size:  ~25 lbs Housebroken:  YES ... as long as you do your part and let him outside often  Crate trained:  YES Personality:  happy, playful, guarded in new situations, wary of new people and animals, anxious about too much activity around him Energy level:  medium    Fenced yard required?:   YES – he definitely needs a safe place to run off excess energy.  A physical fence is required so someone could not just wander in and trigger his anxiety. Does he/she jump fences?  NO  Leash walk:  YES  Obedience training:  Yes, a previous owner took him to class and we know he is very smart. Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  Somewhat ... once properly introduced.  He gets excited when meeting new dogs and does not like dogs getting in his face.  He will growl if a new dog gets in his face.  Once he has time to properly meet a new dog, he generally does fine.    Social with cats:  Do not know … has not been around cats. We think he would chase them if they ran, but not sure if he would try to harm them. Good with children:  No Children ... he has nipped at children Adoption donation:  $175  We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.  When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Dillon picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please email AAMR at weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 1:59 pm

Story
Meet Chip! Chip is a 4-year-old dachshund–corgi mix with a big personality packed into a perfectly low-riding body. He came to us after being surrendered to a local shelter due to potty accidents and discomfort around kids. Once in foster care, it turned out Chip was dealing with a bladder infection—which has since been treated—and resolving that issue made a hugedifference in his house-training success. Chip can be a little hesitant with new people and lots of chaos, so he’s looking for a calmer, quieter home where he can settle in at his own pace. That said, once he feels safe, his fun-loving and affectionate side really shines. He’s a lively little guy who loves exploring the yard, keeping an eye on his surroundings, and soaking up quality cuddle time—especially being held by his foster mom. He enjoys the company of other dogs and would do well with a friendly canine companion, but he could also be perfectly happy as a spoiled single pup. Chip is crate trained, leash trained, and mostly house trained; he may mark in new environments at first, but consistency helps him do well. Due to his dislike of chaotic spaces and need for quiet space, it is best of Chip find a home with no young children. Chip is sweet, sensitive, and full of charm. If you’re looking for a loyal little sidekick who will thrive in a peaceful home and reward you with affection and personality, Chip just might be your guy. Adoption Fee: $350 Neutered, microchipped and completely up to date on vetting Currently located in the Greensboro, NC area, adopters must be willing to travel to NC to adopt. ##2613487##

Story
SadieDachshund Mix9 years old20 poundsFostered in RaleighAdoption fee is $300 Short list: Good with kids 5 and up, housetrained with a good schedule, apartment friendly, working family friendly, needs to be only dog, not reactive to other dogs on walks, cat friendly Sadie falls in love quickly and deeply. This girl LOVES her person to the moon and back. And she’s one of the happiest dogs we’ve ever met. She landed in our arms due to not getting along with other dogs in her home. After trying several different pack set ups, we have decided that she needs to be the only dog in a home. She does get along with cats so would do fine in a home with felines. If look up the word “wigglebutt” in the dictionary – you will see Sadie’s picture. She throws a ticker tape parade when she sees you and every muscle in your body starts wagging a mile a minute.  If she deems she’s not getting enough attention, she will tap you with your paw and then flop onto her back so you can’t help but rub her adorable belly. Sadie loves to be as close to you as possible, especially in the big bed at night. But when it’s time to play, this girl is all in. Her favorite thing in the world after snuggling is to play fetch with her special pink ball or pink boy. She will play fetch until your arm wears out – even bringing it back. We promise you will tire out first. Sadie also loves to go on walks and does great on a leash. She enjoys sniffing and chasing in the yard as well. Sadie is housetrained when kept on a schedule, but her family should expect accidents during the transition. She has lived with kids and would do great with a family with kids 5 and up, but would also do well in a family with visiting kids that are toddlers. She is crate trained and is a quiet dachshund – only really barking when the amazon truck shows up. Sadie is spayed, UTD on shots, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She had a dental cleaning with extractions while in rescue. ##2562311##

FritzDouble Dapple DachshundFostered in Sanford3 years old17 pounds Short list: Friendly, velcro dog, Good with kids over 8, limited sight, limited hearing, gets along with dogs, working on housetraining, cannot do stairs, no apartments, on slow kill treatment for heartworms Fritz is one of the happiest, most affectionate little guys we’ve ever met. Found wandering in eastern NC, this special double dapple boy hasn’t let his rough start—or his disabilities—dim his joy for life. Because he’s a double dapple, Fritz has limited vision and hearing, which just means he experiences the world a little differently… and bonds very deeply with his people. He doesn’t just follow you — he super-glues himself to you. If he can’t find you, he’ll bark to let you know (which is why apartments and condos won’t work). Once reunited, he’ll immediately melt into your lap and fall asleep. Cold nights? Loneliness? Not in 2025.Fritz sleeps through the night, loves the big bed, and is an A+ snuggle partner who never steals the covers. Despite his vision challenges, Fritz enjoys walks, plays with other dogs, and has even discovered toys. He’ll need a stair-free home (or one where stairs can be blocked off and he can be carried), and a laid-back dog pack that’s welcoming and gentle. Potty training is a work in progress — he does well on a schedule and uses both outside time and pee pads. Pro tip: if Fritz barks “out of nowhere,” he’s probably politely asking to go potty. Fritz is neutered and has had a dental cleaning. He’s UTD, microchipped, and had bloodwork. Because he is heartworm positive, we have started him on the slowkill treatment for heartworms and the rescue will pay for it until he tests negative. Fritz is looking for a homebody or work-from-home family who wants a loyal companion, understands his special needs, and is ready to start the New Year with a dog who will love them with his whole heart. Make 2025 the year you find your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your best friend. Fritz is ready for his new life!  ##2603793##
