Who wants to head into the 100 acres woods for an adventure? Christopher Robin is ready to take you there! This little dachshund mix has the most adorable little face and comical expressions. He is 3-4 yrs old and is still learning about being a proper pet but is doing well with his crate training and is good on a leash. We are sure once in a home with more attention he will come around and be a loving companion for many years. Dog, cat and kid safe but would probably prefer a quiet home type. Story
Chonk is a dachshund terrier mix he was adopted in February from the BAS and i have all his paperwork and his rabies tag aswell. i recently took him in from his previous owner that adopted him from BAS but he’s not fond of my 1 year old and i wanting a puppy for her since she loves animals, he’s very loving and sweet loves to go in walks and be outside. he has no known health issues other than being a bit overweight. i can’t keep him much longer since there is also tension with my male cat who’s been hiding since he came to live with us.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Dillon! Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. If you are not able to adopt, please consider donating to AAMR in my name to help with my extended care in rescue. Special needs pups are just that ... special ... and they just need special heroes to come to their rescue.  Have you tried on your hero cape lately? We don’t know a lot about Dillon's early life other than a Good Samaritan took him in to keep him safe after he appeared to have been abandoned on a rural road.  His Good Sam said he sat in one spot on the road for several days and appeared to be waiting for his ‘ride’ to come back to get him.  After about 4 days, he gave up and went looking for food and water, which he found in her garage! We do know that Dillon has some social anxiety issues and he can go from happy to distraught and nippy in situations with multiple people moving around in an area.  He has always done fine in his original foster home, but had a few 'incidents' in an adopting home, and he was returned to AAMR.  It is sad because Dillon is a very sweet and loving little guy ... until his anxiety takes over.  'Stranger Danger' is very real to him and in his mind, he needs to protect himself. We are not really sure of Dillon’s breed mix.  He has a dachshund-like body (long and low) with the head of a tiny yellow lab!  Dillon really deserves a family who wants to help him develop some confidence and some manners so he can be the lucky dog he is meant to be.  He is very excitable and vocal when left alone for too long and will not be the best apartment resident.  Dillon's wish list includes 1) a fenced yard, 2) an low-key, settled family willing to spend time with him and accept his limitations and 3) people to cuddle with every day who will teach him how to be the best boy ever.  Could that be you?Dillon does well with most other dogs, so having another confident, friendly dog in the home may be good for him.  Absolutely no children in the home.  If there are children visiting the home, it will be best to give Dillon a safe, out-of-the-way area to rest in his crate while the children are around.  They make him very anxious. Please read the rest of Dillon's bio below so you can learn more about him.Approximate age/birthdate: ~ early 2015 Weight/size:  ~25 lbs Housebroken:  YES ... as long as you do your part and let him outside often  Crate trained:  YES Personality:  happy, playful, guarded in new situations, wary of new people and animals, anxious about too much activity around him Energy level:  medium    Fenced yard required?:   YES – he definitely needs a safe place to run off excess energy.  A physical fence is required so someone could not just wander in and trigger his anxiety. Does he/she jump fences?  NO  Leash walk:  YES  Obedience training:  Yes, a previous owner took him to class and we know he is very smart. Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  Somewhat ... once properly introduced.  He gets excited when meeting new dogs and does not like dogs getting in his face.  He will growl if a new dog gets in his face.  Once he has time to properly meet a new dog, he generally does fine.    Social with cats:  Do not know … has not been around cats. We think he would chase them if they ran, but not sure if he would try to harm them. Good with children:  No Children ... he has nipped at children Adoption donation:  $175  We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.  When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Dillon picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please email AAMR at weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 1:59 pm

Story
Molly and CocoBonded Pair of Chiweenies1 year old and 10 poundsFostered in Raleigh area Meet Molly and Coco, an inseparable bonded pair of one-year-old Chiweenies who have already shown incredible resilience and heart. Despite coming from very different pasts, these two 10-pound sweethearts found comfort and confidence in each other, forming a deep bond that has helped them blossom in their foster home. Now they’re ready to take the next step—finding a loving family who will cherish them both and give them the safe, gentle life they deserve. Suprisingly, Molly and Coco aren’t related or even from the same home. Molly was found chained up outside throughout the summer heat while Coco spent her puppyhood in a case with a litterbox. A good samaritian rescued both and in the few months that they lived with her, these adorable chiweenies became a bonded pair. Coco the social one of the duo. She loves to give kisses and makes friends pretty quickly. And if you don’t give her enough pets that she thinks she deserves then she nudges your hand to get the attention she wants. She will jump right in your lap and make herself right at home. She began playing within a few minutes with a dachshund that she went to visit and became fast friends. Molly is much more timid and shy, especially at first. but in a quiet enviroment, she warms up pretty quickly. She doesn’t love being picked up, but will let you with no agression. And when she feels relaxed, she will give you the most adorable tail wag. She has a ways to go with socialization, but we have seen a lot of progress in a few weeks. And we know with a patient family in a quiet home that she will continue to blossom over the next few months. Both girls are housetrained and get a long with cats. They would do great in a home with small dogs or as a ready made pack. However, both girls think that big dogs scary, so no dogs over about 40 pounds or so. Check out the videos of them playing with one of our alumni in the comments and of Cocoa's adorable tail wag. They lived in a home with small kids in a temporary foster home so would be fine with visting kids such as grandkids. But since we saw such a huge difference in their personalities in a quiet home, they would do best in a home with kids over 8. When we first got them, they couldn’t walk on a leash and have come along way in foster care, but do need some more work on the leash. Both Molly and Coco are spayed, UTD on shots, had a dental polish, microchipped and heartworm negative. Their new family will need to drive to the Raleigh area to adopt them – no transports. We prefer to adopt to families in the NC, VA, SC, northern GA, WV, DC area and eastern TN. To get the process started of giving these adorable cuties their very own home for the holidays, fill out an application at www.doxiebyproxy.org/application These girls had a rough start and deserve to live the life of spoiled rotten chiweenies. Molly and Coco have made so much progress in foster care, and with a patient, loving family, their future is brighter than ever. ##2573267##

Story
MaxDachshund Mix (Maybe Beage or larger hound)9 years old22 poundsFostered in Holly SpringsAdoption fee is $300 Short list: Loves cats, gets along with small to medium size dogs, housebroken, loves to go for walks, does not like the crate, needs single family home, LOVES his person, very affectionate, Good with kids 8 and over Max is the definition of a velcro dog! He loves quickly and deeply, wanting to be with his person as much as possible. And he wants to be as physically close to you as he can. You will not be cold or lonely with Max in your life. When you aren’t at home, this dude waits for you on the back of the couch keeping a watch out for your arrival. He landed in our arms after his elderly owner was unable to keep him due to him getting under her feet and tripping her. Max was loved dearly by his mom and it broke both their hearts, but it was no longer safe for his mom to have a velcro dog. After a few weeks in foster care, Max has adjusted and is ready for his very own forever home for the holidays. If you are looking for a  dog to take on hikes, festivals and breweries, Max would be a perfect fit.  He’s friendly with new people and a super happy guy. Max rides well in the car and LOVES going for walks – he’s great on a leash. Max learned the routines in his foster home very quickly. He’s housetrained and will go sit by the back door when he needs to go out. But if you miss his polite ask, he may  have an accident so a good routine is super helpful. Max is not a fan of the crate at all so his new family will need to either use a pen, leave him out or be prepared to work on crate training. Because Max loves so deeply, he does bark when you leave, so no shared walls for this fellow. He needs a single family home. He would also do best with someone home more than not. He LOVES cats and gets along great. He would be totally fine as an only dog, but also does well with small to medium dogs. He is not a fan of big dogs  in his home, but does fine while passing them on the street. Mix is neutered, UTD on shots, HW negative, had a dental cleaning with extractions, and is microchipped. He can hear, but does have some hearing loss plus a touch of dachshund selective listening thrown in for fun. He has lost weight since coming into rescue and needs to lose a few more pounds so his new family should be committed to helping him find his six pack abs. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a loyal, affectionate companion who will adore you with his whole being, Max is waiting. He’s the kind of dog who turns an ordinary day into something special simply by being at your side. ##2580484##
