Story
Meet Fred! This beautiful brindle boy is a dachshund mix with an enviable coat and physique! Fred is 3 years old and weighs 11lbs. Fred came to us in bad shape, abandoned in an empty house with his brother, Barney. Luckily, Fred rallied quickly with vet care and some TLC. He is now healthy, energetic, and affectionate. Fred is quiet and sleeps through the night. He is also house trained and crate trained. In fact, he likes the crate so much that he decided its his favorite place to hang out! Fred is a sensitive boy who loves physical affection and has a lot of love to give. He will climb onto your lap any chance he gets, nuzzle in, give kisses, and request skritches. Fred will jump for joy when its time to go for a walk, but gets easily overwhelmed with loud noises, fast movement, and unfamiliar situations. Because of this, Fred is still working on his leash skills. Though nervous, Fred appears to be more relaxed in the presence of his foster brother, a similar sized dog who he can reference. Fred thrives in the company of a playful and confident dog. Fred's ideal home has a fur sibling and a patient human who is understanding of his past and invested in cultivating his confidence. This sweet and smart boy will make a wonderful addition to the right home. Could that home be with you?!

Story
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Wiley! Unlike the coyote, I can relate to dynamite because although I maybe small, I leave a big impression, need to be handled with care, and I like to get down to business! As you hoomans like to say, dynamite comes in a small package! First of all, I have an existing back injury and do not have the use of my back legs, but I have my own set of wheels and am very comfortable using them to go on walks. Second, I need a home without children due to my demeanor, size, and before mentioned injury. Third, my big personality sometimes is me over compensating for being a little nervous. I do best with slow introduction. My love language is ball! I am currently between houses but temporarily I reside with 2 dogs and an ornery cat. I am looking for a permanent home that will advocate for me and take it slow if there are other creatures in the home. I would be an amazing only pet! I am pretty low energy and am really just looking for understanding and companionship. What do you say? ##1944910##

Story
Edwin was a rescue from Costa Rica and is a good dog that just needs a home with no children. He isn’t at all aggressive but has given warning snaps to our son and that is the main reason we are unfortunately having to make this very difficult decision. He does have some allergies but they are currently being treat with medicated baths as needed. He is shy at first but once he warms up he will be glued to your side. He enjoys sitting in the couch and snuggling. He has been in a home with large and small dogs, cats, a pig, ferrets, bunnies, and chickens and has never had an issue. He know sit, lay down, kennel (kennel trained), and wait for his food. He is current on all vet recommendations and will be rehomed with any supplies we have (flea and tick / heartworm prevention, food). We just want what’s best for Edwin and realize that our home is not the right home for him so with broken hearts we are on a mission to find him the home he deserves.

Story
Introducing Gigi Berry, our delightful and tender-hearted girl!Gigi Berry is on a quest to find her forever family! Despite a challenging start and an uncertain past, this charming little lady has shown incredible strength and resilience. With the dedicated care of her foster home, she has flourished, gaining weight, boasting a lovely coat, and confidently finding her footing. Now, she's all set to embark on her journey to her forever home!**Personality and Behavior:**Gigi has experience with both dogs and cats. She loves to be part of the pack! Given her reserved demeanor, Gigi would do best in a home with older children or adults only. Winning over Gigi's trust and affection requires patience and the occasional treat, but the bond formed is priceless.**Training and Commands:**Gigi has mastered the "sit" command and is eager to learn more! She is housetrained and comfortable spending time in a crate. While Gigi is still getting used to maneuvering the world on leash, she certainly knows her way around a backyard! A forever home that offers both options would be ideal! **Preferred Environment:**Gigi thrives in a home with adults, potentially including older children, and currently shows a preference for women. She enjoys the company of both dogs and cats, often snuggling up in a pile of furry friends. While she values companionship, Gigi also appreciates her solo time. She's content playing with toys independently or alongside canine friends, showcasing both independence and sociability. Gigi's activity level is moderate, with occasional bursts of energy. She primarily enjoys lounging on the couch, making her a perfect companion for relaxed moments at home.**Activities and Playtime:**Gigi's go-to toys and enrichment items include Kongs and rope toys. She has a diverse palate and enjoys all kinds of snacks and foods. A home prepared to shower her with cuddles and lap time would be ideal, as Gigi thrives on affection and closeness with her human companions.**Compatibility:Gigi has thoroughly enjoyed living in a multi-pet household with her foster humans. In her forever home, she would love to have a dog or cat sibling. Gigi is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. She is available for adoption to a loving patient family who has another canine companion. To meet this girl please complete an application on our website at : www.secondchancenc.org ***Please Note: All the available dogs listed on our website are getting spoiled in private foster homes.
