Story
Jack - in Maine *foster or forever home needed* Posted June 2025 Jack is returning to the rescue due to a change in the circumstances of his family. He is a 7-year-old Dalmation mix who weights 55 lbs. He is still very active…..don’t tell him he’s considered middle aged for a dog ; 0 ) Jack is so sweet and smart and loves his treats. He looks forward to his routine walks 2 to 3 times per day and he enjoys socializing with his buddies at local dog parks. Jack tends to play the best with smaller dogs. He is also very social with people and is a champion snuggler and the best kisser! When meeting new humans he needs to be introduced properly and does best around dog-savvy people. Jack is not OK with cats, but loves most dogs and we think he would do best in a home with another confident dog who could show him the ropes. He could also live as an only dog, and we think he’d do fine with older children. Jack LOVES rides in the car and has made many long road trips. At home he is not a big fan of being crated and is not destructive if left home alone in a puppy-proofed area. Jack appreciates good leadership in his humans so he doesn’t need to take on the role of leader. He starts out very energetically meeting people if he is not managed. His treat motivation is helpful because he will sit for a treat. Jack recently met one of our volunteers and they had a good walk, where Jack did well on leash if he was walked on a short leash. When he had free roam he was more anxious and trying to figure out the expectations of the walk. Jack will chase prey such as turkeys or deer so he likely would not be an off-leash candidate unless he had an e-collar which is what he uses in his current home. If you have interest in meeting Jack or any of our sweeties, please fill out the adoption application. Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
