Story
Nox is looking for a home — he’s a story of resilience, growth, and second chances. Pulled from a shelter by our trainer at @gentlewolfdogtraining in early 2025, Nox arrived severely malnourished and clearly suffered a difficult past. Today, he’s healthy, strong, and ready for the right person to step into his world. At roughly 3 years old, Nox is a young adult with a big personality. He’s a well-traveled gentleman (no really, he flies with his foster) who thrives in nature - hiking trails, open space, quiet environments. He’s a dog who wants to lean into capable leadership, not chaos. He experienced the worst kind of cruelty but does not need babying — he needs a human who understands what structured support looks like. Someone who can stay calm, think clearly, and provide guidance, also ideally has experience with the breed. When Nox feels understood and like his person has his back, a different dog appears. He's goofy, charming, sometimes hilariously unsure of how to manage his big body, and full of potential. With other dogs, he does well under clear leadership and benefits from clear boundaries. Nox is not a beginner’s dog. His past has left marks that surface when he becomes overwhelmed, especially during transitions into rest. Nox will only be adopted to an experienced home — someone who respects what a dog with a story needs, and has the means, empathy, and skill set to continue his journey. His next chapter starts with the right person — if that sounds like you, please fill out our adoption application: dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms. If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
✨ LUNA – Looking for Her Second Chance ✨ Luna’s story is a heartbreaking one. Adopted as a tiny pup named Gigi four years ago, she grew up loved and settled into family life. But recently, through no fault of her own, Luna lost everything she knew when her owner fell on hard times and lost their home. After spending two weeks with a wonderful foster in New England, Luna returned to rescue—even though she had no home waiting. She’s been living in boarding ever since, where she tries her best to stay cheerful, but it’s clear she desperately misses having a family, a bed, and a normal life. Luna is house-trained, leash-trained, calm, gentle, and wonderful with every person and animal she’s met. She enjoys doggy daycare, loves car rides, and is equally happy stretching her legs at the dog park or snoozing through a low-energy day. Her most endearing quirk? Luna carries shoes. Not to chew—never destructively—but as her comfort item. She picks up a shoe when she’s happy, when she’s sad, when she’s lonely. Her northern foster even sent her home with two small pairs so she’d have her favorites with her. Luna is incredibly people-oriented and hates feeling left behind. She bonds deeply, loves fully, and is so ready to give her heart to someone again. She doesn’t need anything fancy—just a family who will let her finally feel safe. Luna is hoping for a Christmas miracle… a real home for the holidays. Let’s give this sweet girl her second chance. ❤ If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel.
