UPDATE!! This beautiful girl is Angel! She was saved from a rural overcrowded yesterday. Poor Angel is likely the product of double Merle breeding which has left her totally deaf and with some vision impairment! Angel navigates and gets around great. She does not let her disabilities slow her down one bit. She has settled into her foster home and is doing so well. Her foster was going to keep her but knows Angel would be much happier in a house of that has other animals or kids. She’s great in the house and has done wonderful with other dogs. She has a wonderful personality and will keep you laughing. She’s around 1 year old and 40lbs. Her chip (which was not registered and we were not able to reach any owners) has her listed as a Doberman mix and that she was from Canada. Deaf dog experience is a plus. She has so much potential and we would love to see this girl reach her true potential in her forever home. Angel is up to date, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and spayed.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Meet Zuis, the Doberman This handsome two year old boy is currently at our trainer's house after she brought him in for an eval. He was such a sweet boy, she had to foster him. After spending some time in training, he's ready to find a foster to adopt/foster home within driving distance to Birmingham, AL. Zuis is a big goofy guy that’s dreaming of his happily ever after. He enjoys being with his people and makes an excellent work from home buddy. He loves hikes, car rides, walks, and adventure with his people but he does not love the chaos of a dog park. Zuis does awesome meeting new people on a brief walk and once he knows you, he will be your ride or die. When he gives you that little butt tail nub wiggle/happy dance, you’re in! And it’s pretty adorable to see. He does great with other pups of all sizes and ages. He’s also a smart boy, but true to his breed, Zuis needs a dog savy household that will keep working with him. He’s learning leash manners and basic behavior with our trainer and she’s happy to continue working with any potential adopters. Hey there! I’m Watson, a 2 year old male Doberman. Howdy y’all! This rescue life is kinda weird isn’t it? I am BIG Boy from the Carolinas that found myself in need of a new home. Luckily the folks here at SHDR took me in and are helping work on that! I’m basically a big puppy who has finally opened up and really learned how to be a dog. I really like playing with my foster siblings, but since I’m such a big boy, I can overwhelm them sometimes.
