Story
'Courtesy Post' This is not a Street Paws animal but we are assisting a family with placing their pet.  'MEET RIVER' He was born at Clayton County Humane Society to mom Kelly who is also still up for adoption. River has been completely vetted which includes microchipping, neutering, ALL current and up to date vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heartworm tested, heartworm and flea prevention and completed deworming. River was a live birth to mom Kelly on 02/06/2022 along with 7 siblings. River and his brother Jasper that is also still available for adoption had the chance at a forever home as puppies but were unfortunately returned after 6 months as a lifestyle change occurred and they could no longer care for River and Jasper. With River and Jasper size they are usually overlooked due to medium to larger size dogs being picked last for adoption. 3 years have went by already with living in shelter life. They do get the opportunity to go on routine scenic dog walks and adventures and have outside free time. River would do well as a only dog as he can be quiet timid and shy but is very friendly to people. He can bark at children as he is just timid and needs some quality time to develop and blossom outside of chaos that can arise from shelter living. He is very active and would make a great companion to someone who loves to spend a lot of time outdoors. If you have a big back yard for him to run he would greatly enjoy that too!! River and Jasper deserve a true chance at a forever home and someone who has patience in understanding that decompression and a trusting bond is viable for them to open up and show all of their personality. They love treat time and always welcome us with a wagging tail and great disposition. I encourage quality one on one time to be spent so that you can see all the potential that they have!! Let's give River and Jasper a FOREVER home ! River is in good health and ready to be adopted into his forever loving home Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150 mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  Adoption fee is $300 To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at  https://www.streetpaws.org/home/adopt.     This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet and your family. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Please call your vet to give permission for us to call them. If more information is needed regarding the pet email info@streetpaws.org. You must complete the pre-application to obtain approval to meet the pet.  June 5, 2026, 9:51 am

Story
Bennett is a dog that has come back to our rescue through no fault of his own. We originally pulled him from Newton County Animal Control in 5/2024, a day before he was going to be put down. He stayed at our rescue till 11/2024 when he got adopted. Due to financial difficulties with the adopters he has returned to our rescue and is looking for his forever home again. He is now about 3 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm negative and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Bennett's a happy, fun loving dog! He has had play dates with our doctor's dog and they got along great. One of our vet techs took him on a run with her and he ran well right along side her. He enjoys going on walks and is calm in his kennel and doesn't get bothered with dogs barking around him. He loves a good stuffed animal to throw around the yard and carry in his mouth. But he can be cuddly too and will rest his head against your shoulder when you go in his kennel with him. If you're interested in meeting Bennett make an appointment to meet him by calling 770-787-4899. Adoption application and interview required for adoption. He is located at Ross Animal Hospital, Covington GA.

Story
Roxy is a goofy, silly girl with a huge heart and an even bigger love for life. All she really wants is someone to love her and a buddy to play with—she’s happiest when she’s being her playful, joyful self. Her story hasn’t been an easy one. Roxy was found on the side of the road in the rain after being hit by a vehicle, suffering multiple serious injuries including a broken shoulder, tail, femur, and even a break in her back. Thanks to the incredible team at Auburn University, she received life-saving surgery and care—and today, she’s doing amazingly well. Because of what she’s been through, Roxy does have some lingering PTSD, but she continues to grow more confident every day. She’ll need a patient, understanding home that will support her as she continues to heal and thrive, especially as she gets older. Roxy absolutely loves people and is wonderful with kids, though she can be a bit jumpy when she gets excited, so a home without very small children would be best. She also loves cats… unfortunately, the feeling isn’t always mutual. She would truly shine in a home with another friendly, playful dog who can be her companion. Due to her injuries and breed, Roxy cannot be spayed until she is at least one year old to allow her body to grow as strong as possible. Her future family will need to provide proof of spay when the time comes. Roxy has been through so much, but she hasn’t let it dim her spirit. She’s resilient, loving, and ready to find a home that will cherish her just as much as she’ll cherish them. Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150-mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at  https://www.streetpaws.org/adopt. T his application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet and your family. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Please call your vet to give permission for us to call them. Our adoption fee is $400 . She has been given age-appropriate vaccinations, receives monthly heartworm prevention, dewormed, receives flea prevention, and will be micro-chipped. We will ensure the microchip is registered. If more information is needed regarding the pet email info@streetpaws.org. You must complete the pre-application to obtain approval to meet the pet.
