Many people stepped up to foster and a boarding and day care kennels in Bangor also reached out to offer to take some dogs and they took Cruz and his girl riends Clara Belle and Ryder Girl. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Skittles and Pretty Girl were saved from a high-kill shelter in Calfornia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Wednesday 3rd August. We post our available dogs in states across the East Coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes of finding perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs — families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet and, hopefully, take home their new best friend. We are looking to adopt Skittles and Pretty Girl together as a bonded pair. Health & Background &#226&#156&#133 Neutered & Spayed &#226&#156&#133 Rabies and core vaccines up to date &#226&#156&#133 On monthly flea/tick preventatives &#226&#156&#133 Microchipped &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Weight: 7 lbs (mid July) Estimated DoB: 24 April 2025 Skittles and Pretty Girl were adopted on 13 December 2025 and sadly came back to the rescue on 2nd March 2026 as unfortunately one of the ladies has allergies and it is no longer workable. The siblings came back and settled in quick, they have lived with the seniors before and so it was just a matter of re-aquainting and although Willow and Sunny-Boy (teenage mal/shepherd mixes) were eager to meet them, they had no issues telling them to back off when needed and being the well mannered, although at times excitable teenagers, they respected the yorkies communication and backed off.   It is strange how dogs change in different environments, Skittles the smaller one (male) has become quite the bossy boots, whilst Pretty-Girl who was super confident here has become really shy with no much confidence at all.   Skittles has taken the roll of I"m being in charge and will try to push infront of her if she is getting some attention, but I just simply tell him no and push him to the side and continue on with Pretty Girl and he has very quickly adapted and is now not so pushy.   They are great dogs, have been sleeping on the bed with me and love to snuggle. They are wonderful with other dogs and ride great in the car.   So these two midgets need an active family who understands that just because these are small dogs, they are an active breed, terriers were bred for hunting and they are smart and they can be stubborn - as with all dogs they need structure, routine and consistency. If they start demanding or wanting to be in charge, then we teach them that they are not in charge and that it is not acceptable to demand - all the things we do with each other.   They had a great time with their family, went on adventures, were spoiled, loved and well cared for. Before they came back they had their booster shots and are all still healthy pups. They are due to turn 1 year old towards the end of April so they are teenagers, still developing and learning.   If you have an active lifestyle, can work with their little / big personalities - helping Pretty Girl with her confidence, while showing Skittles he doesn't need to be in charge then go to the rescue website to complete and submit the adoption application.
