Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. SNOWALL  was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on Saturday 3rd August.   We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. Snowball is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of September 2023 and at the beginning of August weighed around 60 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.    He does need an active family who will ensure he gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that he needs to live a happy fulfilling life. SNOWBALL has an adoption fee of $300 Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. RITA was saved and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption, before sending him with other saved dogs to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine. They arrived in the US on 28th January 2025 and were transported to the rescue where they are settling in. RITA was cleared by the US canine center for diseases upon entry into the US. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 33 pounds and has an estimated date of birth or 10 March 2024. After being at the rescue a few months on 7 May, Rita was lucky enough to be chosen to go for a day out on our Lets go for a Walk, Doggy Day Out Program.  She was initially very scared, but soon settled down. She left at 10am and came back to the rescue today at 4pm after a wonderful break away from the kennels - she was so scared when I brought her out but Kelly emailed me not long after getting home saying she is doing great. It just sometimes takes a little time to get away from the stress of the kennels and not have all the energy to feed off and be able to relax... and relax she did. She had a nap on the couch and was even dreaming, which shows how comfortable she was, she saw the cats and gave a low growl when cat approached but nothing other than that. She met another dog who she happily shared the couch with and my absolute favourite is she met the parakeet, FRED, who apparently wanted to nibble on her nose. That photo made me laugh so much. So a wonderful relaxing day for this sweet girl, this is the fist time she ahs been in a house and for her first time away from her Omani friends she did amazing. Stray dogs in Oman are referred to as "Wadi Dogs" and are a mix o f th e popular sighthound breeds, specifically thought to be descendents of the majestic Saluki and other smaller breeds, many resembling whippets with their small agile frames. If not saved these dogs are often shot or brutally ran over and left for dead. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. RITA is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $300, as noted she is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this precious girl home. Applications are processed with 24 hours of them being received. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Avery  was saved with her brother arriving at the rescue on 1 September 2024 at just under 3 months old, both she and her brother were adopted together on 20 October at just under 5 months old. Unfortunately the family reached out to the rescue in March 2025 (5 months after adoption) stating that they need to return both Avery (Scout) and Willow (Zamboni) as they are not well-behaved, chase after the children, nipping, jumping up, scratching and also chasing the cats. They are leash and house trained and the family said that Avery is silly and spunky she is a great dog, weighs around 40 pounds, but needs more than they can give her. Sadly Avery and Willow were not given the training and direction they needed as pups, so they wouldn't chase, jump up and nip, all natural behaviours for dogs and so unless they are taught different, they do not know that we find this acceptable.  The family told us that Avery and Willow often engage in air nipping towards each other, which is them communicating that they are not happy. We are looking for a family that understands the importance of training and that basic training, routine and structure is a must, a dog doesn't know how it is supposed to act in a human world, unless we teach them. We feel it would be a good idea to adopt the pups out individually unless a family is confident and committed to working with them and just like with humans understand they need their own time doing things to give them a break from their sibling or buddy. The pups are still with the family as at the moment the rescue has no free kennels and would really prefer not to put them through additional stress and emotional upset of coming back to the kennels, but the family is very eager for them to be gone. If interested in giving this beautiful girl her perfect forever home, please complete and submit the adoption application, link below. Avery is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives,  and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of 29 May 2024. She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet DEXTER! DEXTER was originally rescued and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption before traveling to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine, with other saved dogs. He arrived on January 28th, 2025, and has since settled in well at the rescue. Health & Background Upon entry, DEXTER was cleared by the U.S. Canine Center for Diseases and is in great health: Neutered Rabies and core vaccines up to date Heartworm & tick disease tested – all negative &#239&#184&#143On monthly preventatives Microchipped Upon arrival, weighed approx. 34 lbs Estimated DOB: September 16th, 2022 DEXTER’s Personality DEXTER is a confident boy once he feels safe in his space. He’s very affectionate and loving, gives great snuggles, and thrives with human companionship. Friendly and social with other dogs Exposed to cats in Oman, but hasn’t been around cats since arriving in the U.S. Rides great in the car Leash trained What DEXTER Needs We’re looking for a loving home that can provide: ‍An active and engaging lifestyle to keep him happy, healthy, and stimulated Good quality food, treats, and toys Regular veterinary care and wellness checks Understanding of his background – coming from a very different country means new sights, sounds, and smells could be overwhelming at first. He’ll need a patient family willing to help him build confidence at his own pace. ‍ DEXTER’s Story In January 2023, DEXTER and his sister were rescued as young pups from a dangerous, high-traffic area near hotel complexes in Oman, where stray dogs are not welcome and often face being shot or run over. Thankfully, they were taken in by Muscat Dog Adoption Rescue. His sister was adopted. With no local interest, DEXTER was chosen to travel to Maine in hopes of finding his forever family. Stray dogs in Oman are known as “Wadi Dogs”—a unique mix of sighthounds like the elegant Saluki and smaller agile breeds, often resembling whippets. If not rescued, many of these dogs face heartbreaking outcomes. Adoption Details Adoption Fee: $300 Location: Sebec, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire Once approved, you'll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet DEXTER before hopefully taking him home &#226&#143&#177&#239&#184&#143 We try to process questionnaires within 24 hours of receiving them [Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire] Want to See More of DEXTER?
