Story
FOR ADOPTION in Southern Ontario: Sarge, the 4 year old Dogo Argentino, was found in a U-Haul truck emaciated with a 1/9 body condition score and severe wounds on all four legs. His history can be found here: https://bit.ly/4rfJD1Q After a few days in the hospital, and a couple of weeks at Toronto Animal Services, and a few months in loving foster care, Sarge’s life has completely transformed. We are thrilled to share that his painful hot spots and alopecia have healed, his fur has grown back beautifully on his legs, and the only reminder of his past is a large scar on his hind paw — which doesn’t bother him at all anymore. His skin is now as gentle as his spirit. To keep him feeling his best, Sarge will need ongoing care with the right diet and medication as he continues his recovery. He has seen a dermatology specialist at the VADER Clinic and is well on his way to managing his allergies, though finding the perfect long-term solution for his sensitive skin will take a little more time. Our total financial Investment into Sarge's well being has been $3,328.04 to have him medically cleared. Sarge can be reactive when he feels unsure or overstimulated. He thrives when he understands what is expected of him and feels secure in his environment. He needs a calm, confident leadership, ongoing training, predictable routine and patience. Underneath his reactive moments is a deeply devoted companion who wants to trust and be trusted. With the right person, Sarge quickly grows into an incredibly loyal and steady best friend. Sarge may have a big bark, but he has an even bigger heart. He is a stage-bazillion love bug with little concept of personal space and he wouldn’t have it any other way! When he is not supervising your every move, Sarge is happiest curled up on a cozy bed under a soft blanket. Warm naps, a full tummy, and his favourite humans nearby —that is his idea of pure happiness. Sarge does not like to be alone but doesn’t mind the crate for a few hours if treats are there to start. He was abandoned by his person, left to starve and die in the middle of Canadian winter so who can blame him? With his gentle heart, snuggly soul, and unwavering devotion, Sarge is ready to light up your life and steal your heart forever! His adoption application is here: https://teamdogrescue.ca/you-can-help/adopt/adoption-application/ If you have any questions please contact his foster mom and adoption coordinator Jasna at adopt@teamdogrescue.ca. Please share Sarge with your network, after such an abusive past he is finally ready to meet his forever home. Thank you

Story
Meet Emjay – Your 100-Pound Lap Dog with a Heart of Gold! At 7 years old, Emjay is a gentle, soulful bulldog who’s equal parts snuggly teddy bear and backyard goofball. He may tip the scales at nearly 100 pounds, but don’t tell him that—he still firmly believes he’s a lap dog. If you're looking for a cuddle companion who’s always down for a nap on the couch (preferably with his head on your chest), Emjay might just be your guy. Emjay lives for the little things in life: quiet walks, sniffing the breeze, and lazy afternoons spent lounging near his people. Due to some ongoing health concerns and his age, he's happiest in calm environments where he can take things at his own pace. That said, don’t be fooled—he still gets spectacular bursts of playful energy and loves to show off his moves with his favorite toys in the backyard. Emjay is working hard on his dog social skills and is making amazing progress! He’s learning to check in with his handler when he spots another dog and is getting better at staying calm and focused. He’ll thrive with adopters who can advocate for his space, especially in busy or dog-heavy environments. He’s not asking for isolation—just a little understanding. To help him feel secure (and show off his impressive training chops), he wears his muzzle like a pro. Smart as they come, Emjay picks up new cues quickly and is always eager to learn. He’s already fluent in a variety of commands and is motivated by praise, treats, and the occasional silly voice. Like all of us, Emjay carries some baggage, and he’ll need a patient, loving home that’s willing to work with him as he adjusts to his new life. But we promise—he’s absolutely worth it. He’s not just a dog; he’s a loyal, expressive companion with so much love to give. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly, sometimes-silly bulldog who just wants to be your best friend (and maybe the center of your world), we’d love to introduce you to Emjay. Let’s find this beautiful boy the forever home he deserves.

Story
Boots is a large, strong, and affectionate dog looking for an experienced home. Born March 6, 2022, he is energetic, people-oriented, and forms close bonds with his handlers. He enjoys being near his humans and thrives on attention and companionship. Because of his size and enthusiasm, he can jump up on adults when excited. This is not aggression and would benefit greatly from consistent training and clear structure. An experienced owner willing to continue training or work with a professional trainer will do very well with him. He does well with calm, respectful children and responds well to verbal cues. With slow, proper introductions, he can do well with other animals. He is not neutered and is not currently up to date on vaccinations (first-year shots completed). Due boots being very enthusiastic tail wagging, he can occasionally bump his tail on hard surfaces when excited. This is manageable with supervision and appropriate care. There is no fee I just want him in the right home.
