June is a beautiful 2-year-old Dogo Argentino who came to us from Philly ACCT. She’s social, loving, and playful. She’s energetic and strong, with a sweet disposition that shines through once she trusts you. June does have a hearing issue that requires patience and understanding, but don’t let that fool you, she’s incredibly intelligent and eager to learn. We’re looking for an experienced adopter who can provide June with plenty of room to run and play, along with a stimulating environment where she can train and put her natural abilities to good use.

✨Meet Lily!✨ Lily is a 5-year-old Boxer mix who came into us as a surrender from a commercial breeding facility (aka Puppy Mill) in Lancaster County. Lily had a very difficult life before coming to us, being used as a mill mama her entire life. She is shut down at this time but is slowly starting to give us her trust. We are confident she will make a wonderful family member for a very lucky family, who understands her past and gives her the time she needs to trust them and her new surroundings. Lily loves other animals, and will thrive in a home with at least one other dog. Adopting a puppy mill survivor is life-changing—for you and them. For these dogs, everything is new and often overwhelming: people, houses, stairs, leashes, food bowls, collars, toys, TVs, ovens, doorways, pavement…the list goes on. They need adopters who can move slowly, be patient, keep expectations reasonable, and provide the understanding and tools they need to grow into happy, confident companions. Patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding are key! We promise there is nothing that compares to gaining the love and trust of a mill mama, but it requires intentional effort and commitment from their new family. With the right guidance, puppy mill survivors can blossom into well-socialized, joyful dog- so our goal is always to ensure every adopter is fully prepared to give them the life and environment they need to truly thrive! ** Mabeline’s adoption fee has been generously sponsored by Eric and Amanda Sheron ** ✨Meet Mabeline!✨ Mabeline pulled as part of “Angel Retreat’s ACCT’s of love” program. Mabeline was originally brought into a shelter in Philadelphia after being found as a stray. This shelter is the only open intake shelter for the entire city, and is extremely underfunded and overcrowded. Mabeline tested positive for Parvo was time stamped for euthanasia. We gladly stepped up, and gave her all the medical care she desperately needed. Along with a lot of love and supportive care Mabeline now has fully recovered and is ready for a home of her own! Mabeline is an 8 month old mixed breed who is full of happiness for her second chance at life! She is the happiest and most wiggly little lady! Mabeline is a young and happy puppy that will require a family up to the task of providing her the ample physical and mental exercise and training that all dogs require. Update from foster: “Mabelline (aka Mabel, May-Belle, or “Maybe”) is a young-minded pup still figuring out the world. She’s shy with new dogs, so—as with all dogs—introductions should be supervised at first. Mabel’s initial introductions here were filled with caution, but after 2–3 days she settled in. She’s comfortable in our home and fenced yard. Mabel is very affectionate and people-focused—she loves being picked up and hugged, and will happily claim your lap for naps, though she’s also content just being nearby. She’s about 95% house-trained, sleeps through the night, and is an amazing companion who doesn’t pull on a leash! Even nail trimming was easy. Like any dog, she may get a little fussy if another dog takes her high-value toy, so she’d likely do best in a human-only home, but could live with another dog if slowly introduced correctly. Cats may be chased, but she shows no aggressive reaction when introductions with our cat are supervised. Crate note: She may protest briefly at first, but if ignored she settles quickly for the night. Overnight crating is likely no longer necessary and may be phased out very soon.
