Story
Timmy is a sweet kitty, who loves to find the best places to hide. He is a quite shy cat, but with some love, he can be the best cuddle bug. His long hair is quite long and luxurious, so it will need to be maintained. He works well with other cats and would be good with older children (8+). He does currently have ear mites, which are currently being treated, and will be done with treatment on 12/20.

Story
Name: Roux Age: 1 year Breed: Domestic Short Hair Gender: Spayed Female Good with Dogs: No Good with Cats: Yes Good with Children: has been around childeren 2 and up Current weight: 8.4lbs FeLv/FIV test: Neg Adoption Fee: $50 Misc. Information: Roux was surrendered to the shelter due to the other cats in the home being stressed out. It was said that Roux tried to pick on the other cats because she wanted to play and had a lot of energy compared to the other cats in the home. It was said that she would more than likely do fine with other cats as long as they had the same energy as her. She loves to play with feathers, balls, and other toys. It sounds like Roux is a great cat, just full of energy. The shelter provides a 5-day health guarantee for adopted animals. Story
Name: Jingles Age: 3-4 years old Breed: domestic long hair Gender: neutered male Good with Dogs: Unknown Good with Cats: NO Good with Children: Unknown Current weight: 13.9 lbs FeLv/FIV test: POSITIVE Adoption Fee: $50 Misc. Information: Jingles was brought in as a stray in a trap and was not very happy when he arrived. He has since calmed down and has become a very sweet boy. Jingles may need time to adjust to other animals in the home. Jingles is FIV POSITIVE and will require and INDOOR ONLY home. What is FIV? FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus just as HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It typically causes a weakening of the cat's immune system. While similar to HIV, FIV has a long asymptomatic period and our job is to prolong this period. FIV is not transmissible to people! However, we do not recommend adopting an FIV cat if there is an immunosuppressed individual in the home, as FIV cats are more likely to become infected with and shed opportunistic organisms which may be transmissible to people. How long will an FIV cat live? Life expectancy is variable, but many live a long, happy life. Approximately 18% die within 5 years of infection. An additional 18% are still alive in that time frame but are experiencing illness from their immune-suppressed state. The remaining cats appear normal in that time frame and many go on to live long lives, only periodically experiencing illness. How is Diagnosis Made? At this shelter diagnosis is made using a screening test that uses a blood sample. It should be noted that administration of the vaccine for FIV will cause a cat to test positive. We do not currently have the technology to distinguish a vaccinated cat from a truly positive cat. How did this cat become infected? The major route of virus transmission is by the deep bite wounds that occur during fighting. There are other means of spreading the virus but they are less common, such as maternal transfer, sexually and via improperly screened blood transfusions. Casual contact such as sharing food bowls or snuggling is very unlikely to be associated with transmission. What special considerations does this cat need? **Keep your Cat Indoors Only - to prevent spread to other cats and protect your cat from infectious diseases. Vaccination - your Veterinarian will advise you on future vaccine needs of your cat. Some vets recommend fewer vaccinations, or none at all. This cat was vaccinated on intake at this shelter, prior to diagnosis of FIV, as that is our policy to maintain the heard health of the cats here. Parasite Control - this cat has been treated for diagnosed parasites at the shelter, but should be routinely treated as needed by your Veterinarian. General Monitoring - It is recommended that FIV cats have a check-up twice yearly by your Veterinarian. These cats are more prone to illnesses such as upper respiratory infections and dental disease. Your Veterinarian may recommend yearly bloodwork to monitor general health. Can FIV be treated? No, there is no treatment. Most FIV-positive cats handle the disease well, but it is important to address any secondary illnesses that may develop. Can FIV-negative and FIV-positive cats live together? There will always be a risk of transmission, but as long as there is no fighting the risk is minimal. The shelter provides a 5-day health guarantee for adopted animals. This includes health conditions not present or known about by the shelter at the of adoption, which adopter becomes aware of within 5 days. Injuries or accidents that occur at the adopter's home are not covered. The shelter is not responsible for incurred costs from local veterinarians due to non-compliance. ALL adoptions are final! Story
Garfield is the purrfect cat - sweet, adorable, friendly, suave, and debonair! This calm, quiet, and mellow kitty enjoys spending time with his humans, but he is also comfortable just hanging out by himself. His favorites include playing with laser pointers and wand toys, taking a nap in his domed cat bed, and helping with computer work. His long, luxurious silky fur needs brushing on a regular basis but he thoroughly enjoys it! He lived with another cat in his previous home but is not fond of dogs and might do best in a home without dogs. Garfield requires daily medication, and fortunately his calm and accommodating demeanor makes it very easy to do. He will gladly purr, purr, purr his thanks, and dole out the head butts as an elegant thank you. Garfield will need ongoing care in his new home for treatment of previously diagnosed medical conditions, including pemphigus foliaceous, diabetes, and possible feline asthma. Future veterinary care could include ongoing medication, special diets, and diagnostic testing. In turn, he will make it worthwhile the effort by showering you with all of his love and kisses!!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lady is a beautiful long-haired, marmalade girl who is quiet and friendly. Once she is comfortable with you, she is playful and likes to be petted and brushed. She loves to watch out the window, and will let you know if her dish is empty or you "forgot " and shut her out of the room. This cat was noted to have excessive ear wax production and itchiness of her ears. It is suspected that she may have a food allergy or environmental allergy which is contributing to her condition. The shelter recommends that the adopter have the cat evaluated for possible allergic skin disease and management after adoption with their veterinarian.
