Story
Audrey is a beautiful long-haired white and orange girl that is affectionate and playful on her terms.  Audrey is considered a special needs kitty because of all of her illnesses she has had.  Audrey and her brother started off at Heartland as wee sickly babies in Aug of 2023.    She developed a condition called Stomatitis and Heartland treated her for that but the treatment made her sick after a month.  She also developed a condition on her paws called Pododermatitis or "Pillow Feet".  She was treated with antibiotics for both her mouth and feet and given lots of time to heal.  She no longer has either condition.  Audrey does have chronic gingivitis and must have regular dental care.  She must see a vet every year to monitor this so it doesn't turn back into stomatitis.  She also has excessive keratin grown on her paw pads but the vet has cleared her to be adopted.  That would also need to be monitored during her yearly visits.  Hers foster mom thinks she has a compromised immune system so she is more susceptable to certain illness.  She has recovered well from the stomatitis and pododermatis though which is a good sign.  She can live a long and heathly life with the proper care. The upside is she is a one of a kind kitty that is quite funny, playful and affectionate.  Please consider adopting this wonderful firl who deserves a home of her own. She is up to date on her shots, treated for fleas and parasites, microchipped, tested negative for FIV/FELV and spayed. January 30, 2026, 1:17 am

Story
Hi, my name is Kevin and I'm a glorious 13.5 pount black long-haired male king!  I was being fed by a kind woman who found rescue for me at Heartland almost 2 years ago.  Since then my foster mom has worked very hard to socialize me.  Turns out I love pets and chin scritches.  While I run at loud noises and will hide when company comes I am obnoxiously affectionate with her and could be with you as well.  I enjoy playing with the laser pointer and all kinds of toys I can scoot across the floor.  I love the brush which is a good thing becuase sometimes I get small mats so you will need to brush me on a regular basis.  I can be quite the goofball and love boxes.   I'm still learning to sit with my foster mom but I'm coming around and in a house all to my own I think I could be your lap buddy eventually.  I like doggies but I tend to boss other kitties around.  I would do best in a home that had older children who know how to be patient with me until I get used to my new digs.  I like my cat tree and especially like to sleep on the top of it looking out at my temporary kingdom.  I am neutered, up to date on my shots, treated for fleas and parasites, tested negative for FIV/FELV and microchipped.January 30, 2026, 1:17 am

Story
Potato is a very quiet kitty.  He is curious and may become more playful as he settles in with a family.   Potato gets along with other kitties after a proper introduction.  He doesn't have a doinant personality, he backs away from confrontation.  He has not been dog tested.  He has allowed older children to carry him but he's not thrilled about it.   Whoever decides to welcome him to their home should be prepared to be patient.  He could take weeks to feel comfortable.  He's been through a lot in his young life, so giving him space and time and love is what he needs.   Applications are being accepted through our website. 15038JTFebruary 4, 2026, 1:52 am

Story
From a Car Lot to Your Couch: Meet Mercedes, Porsche & Lexus These three beautiful girls were heartbreakingly dumped at a car lot alongside three other cats (who were thankfully rescued by another organization). Left behind and confused, Mercedes, Porsche, and Lexus are now safe — and ready to find the loving homes they so clearly deserve.Mercedes (6 years old) is the matriarch of the group — a large, gorgeous torbie with a round face that gives total British Shorthair vibes. She’s usually the first to greet you, loves attention, and genuinely enjoys being around people. Calm, confident, and affectionate, she’s the kind of cat who makes a house feel like home.Porsche is a medium-haired orange tabby with a big personality to match. She’s social, friendly, and always up for playtime. If you’re looking for a cat who will happily engage with you and bring a little fun to your day, Porsche is your girl.Lexus, a stunning long-haired orange tabby, is the most reserved of the trio — but don’t let that fool you. Once she feels comfortable and trusts you, she turns into a total love bug and non-stop purr machine. She’s incredibly sweet and bonds deeply with her people. All three girls get along wonderfully with other cats and are not dominant. They would do well in a home with older, calm children and could even be a good fit with a cat-friendly dog. They’ve already been through so much — now they’re just waiting for someone to choose them. Whether adopted together or individually, Mercedes, Porsche, and Lexus will repay your kindness with endless love, purrs, and companionship. Interested in meeting one (or more) of these sweet girls? Apply today and help them start their next chapter.February 3, 2026, 1:32 am

Story
Meet Bogey A shy soul with a heart of goldBogey is a stunning older kitten with soft medium-length orange tabby fur, a fluffy tail, and big round eyes that will absolutely melt you the moment you meet him. He and his buddy Birdie were trapped at a feral colony in Belleville, and because Bogey didn’t get much early human socialization, he’s still learning that people can be kind and safe. He’s on the timid side and may run at first — but don’t let that fool you. With patience, consistency, and a calm environment, Bogey is truly starting to blossom. When he’s in his “happy zone,” he enjoys being gently petted, accepts affection, and shows his playful, kitten side. Toys are a big hit, and once he relaxes, his personality really shines.Bogey thrives with feline companionship and must have another friendly, social cat in the home to help him build confidence and feel secure. A confident kitty friend makes a world of difference for him and helps him continue his journey toward trust.Because he can be skittish, Bogey would do best in a quiet home with no young children — a place where he can move at his own pace and feel safe as he continues to learn how wonderful being loved can be.Bogey isn’t a “rush right over for cuddles” kind of cat — he’s a slow-burn love story, and for the right person, the reward is incredibly special. Give him time, and he’ll show you just how sweet and lovable he truly is. If you have a calm home, a friendly feline companion, and a patient heart, Bogey may be the perfect addition to your family.February 3, 2026, 1:32 am
