Story
Joyful Rescues is considering Tom to be a sanctuary kitty with us.  It's not that he is feral as are the other 6 sanctuary kitties here that live in the basement, garage, outside, with cat doors open 24/7.  Tom is a friendly kitty, but he seems really elderly and it also seems that he has lived a rather rough life and likely mostly, if not all, outside.  He was not neutered until he arrived....maybe his playboy days were over so he decided to find a nice retirement home as he invited himself to live here.  Whether one of the other cats showed him all the doors or he found them himself is a mystery, but he's not the first kitty to simply appear in our basement.  He was afraid of us humans at first, but warmed up quickly once he realized he was safe.  Tom is very happy here and hangs around the humans when outside.  We have noticed that his eyes seem 'weepy' and his breathing is audible.  Other than this he seems healthy for his age and has a good appetite and gets around just fine.  Just an absolute guess maybe he was born in 2009.  Would we welcome an adoption for Tom?  Yes, as long as we felt he would be happier there than he is here. A cat can live 12-18+ years if cared for properly. Be sure you are able to care for it for its lifetime. The ADOPTION FEE:  There is no fee for Tom. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A CAT FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption. Story
Foxy is an adult Female Black and White DLH Foxy was dumped on a busy road out in the country, and was probably on her own for about three months, according to occasional sightings. We can’t imagine why she was dumped, as she is sweet and gentle, likes people (after an initial ‘get to know you’) and absolutely loves to sit on laps. She is 100% reliable using her litter box. Watching birds through the window is her second favorite pastime. But she hasn’t made any effort to get through the door to return to the wild. Foxy hopes for a quiet home where her people or person is home a lot. She is quite content to sit on a lap for hours of TV or reading, and is likely to want to sleep with her person too! Could this wonderful girl be your best friend for the holidays and beyond?  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.December 11, 2025, 7:45 am

Story
Betty Lou found herself outside alone raising her own litter of kittens plus two orphaned kittens she adopted when their mama disappeared. A nice person found the family outside and helped bring them inside to safety. Betty Lou is a sweet, kind little soul. She is only about a year old, so nearly a kitten herself. She’s very playful at times but so loving at others. One of her favorite toys, which you can almost always find her playing with is a long, crinkle cat toy that she can bunny kick over and over again She would love to find a forever home that lets her be her own self! She warms up with patience and will melt your heart once she does. Betty Lou would love to be adopted with Abby Cadabby, one of the 2 orphaned kittens she took under her wing, but this is not required. If you do adopt the pair together, then Betty Lou’s adoption fee is waived! Betty Lou is cat friendly and would do well with other cats or as a solo cat in a home! If Betty Lou sounds like your match, apply today!

Story
Ready to meet an active, loving, long-haired beauty? Keeva is here to say hi 😻 Keeva is a 5 month old kitten that was originally found dumped at just one week old, along with three other siblings, and no mom 😭 We took the litter in and bottle fed the babies until they were strong and healthy! Keeva's brother and sisters were all adopted, and now it's her turn 🩷 Keeva is a high energy, outgoing, and VERY affectionate little lady! 🐱 She is a perfect kitten for an active family - she adores dogs (the bigger, the better), would love nothing more than to run around and tumble with kids, or go full zoomies mode with a feline partner in crime! 🏃🏻‍♀️ Keeva will make you laugh with her hilarious kitten antics, and she'll truly bring light and warmth to your home ⭐ Although she's so playful, Keeva's love knows no bounds - she ADORES humans and will cuddle you, lick and groom you, sit on your chest and shoulders, lay on your face... the list goes on 😸 She even loves being held 🥰 This girl stayed in our care a little longer than her siblings, as she was battling a nasty case of calicivirus. Thankfully, Keeva kicked the virus's butt and finally got the all clear for adoption from her vet 🎉 Once exposed, this virus can stay in a cat's system, so Keeva should take lysine daily for immune support 💪🏻 This is an over-the-counter supplement that can be purchased at any pet store - no prescription needed! One jar can be purchased for 10-15 dollars💲
