Domestic Longhair kittens & cats in Elmira, New York

Ariel was rescued in September 2024 from an abandonment situation. We took her into our home, later to find out that she was pregnant! Ariel successfully delivered one kitten in October. Ariel is affectionate, smart, and very friendly. She loves to be held and is generally laid back until it’s time for a meal. She loves food! She is up to date on all of her vaccinations and recently got spayed! Ariel’s most recent veterinary examination was 12/30/24. She is flea treated, dewormed, and has no other medical issues! Our initial intention was to keep Ariel as our own. It became clear within a couple of months with us that she was not happy in our 600sqft apartment. Before we took Ariel in she was living outside with plenty of space to roam! Ariel would do great in a larger home or a home where it is safe for her to roam outside occasionally! We live on a busy road with a large stray cat population, which is why we can’t let her outside. We want what is best for Ariel!

How is it that Bathsheba has been with us for ALMOST a whole year?!?!?! (We are honestly really surprised at this one because she is so sweet and beautiful!) Bathsheba is an absolutely stunning cat! Her pictures really don't do her any justice and we'll have to try and get better ones I guess... We've nicknamed her "the beautiful woman" because she is such a pretty lady! Bathsheba is now about 1 year old and, although she is a bit shy and a little skittish, she will very quickly turn on her purr for you if you give her some scratches under the chin. She is a really nice cat and just needs the right person to give her a chance! Bathsheba loves to be brushed and will allow herself to be held when she has gotten comfortable with you. She will also roll over onto her side or back pretty quickly which shows that she is actually quite friendly! She is a tad socially awkward but is very well loved by other cats and kittens! Bathsheba is a stunner with a silky-soft coat that is guaranteed to attract plenty of attention but she really needs someone who is willing to give her patience, love, and time to come out of her shell in a new, forever home! (YES, SHE WILL ABSOLUTELY BE SHY UPON MEETING HER but we know that, with the right person, she will make a very sweet and BEAUTIFUL pet!) Shadow is a very unique and beautiful long haired cat! Her coat is black with a gray undercoat that is very pretty! The vet estimated her to be about 8 months old in March of 2024. She is a small cat and is not quite fully grown yet! (She will probably be fully grown by summer of 2024!) Shadow came to us after mysteriously appearing out of nowhere... she was rescued after being found outdoors where she was living under a shed. Shadow had to be trapped at first in order to be taken for TNR since she wasn't confident enough to approach or be approached by people. Once she was trapped, it was abundantly clear that she was definitely not feral (wild), just scared, because she meowed at us through the trap and really didn't seem that frightened by people! Due to her "friendly" behavior, we held onto her after she was fixed and gave her some time and patience to decompress and see if she would be adoptable. She MOST DEFINITELY IS adoptable although she is definitely still skittish and shy at this point! (She has been through a lot, after all!) Although we don't know anything more about Shadow's background, we do know that she has been around people before because she allows herself to be picked up, petted, and held with no problem! Although she is still in need of additional socialization, she is very sweet, has never shown any aggression of any kind, and has a lot of potential as an indoor house pet for the right person! Shadow needs a CALM home with someone who is willing to invest time and patience into continuing to socialize her. An adopter who has experience with skittish cats would be ideal but not necessarily required. We are not recommending a home with young children due to a calm home being in Shadow's best interest. Shadow is great with other cats and kittens so a home that has another feline companion, preferably a confident or outgoing one, would be ideal for her and may help her feel at home! Shadow has not yet been dog tested but we absolutely can do that if it makes a difference for you! (Just ask!) We want Shadow to go to a home that is willing to keep her regardless of how outgoing she may ever become. (Not EVERY cat is super outgoing and that's ok! Ear Feathers is a very unique and beautiful long-haired young lady who lived her entire lift outdoors until we took her into our care in September of 2024. She is believed to be only a few years old. Upon intake, Ear Feathers was quite sick and struggled with some pretty severe diarrhea. She was hospitalized for several weeks undergoing a variety of tests including, bloodwork, fecal, and thyroid testing. None of her bloodwork showed any serious health conditions and she was negative for thyroid issues and fecal issues. She has improved 1,000% since we've first taken her in and her stool issues have seemed to since resolve although she does benefit from eating Iams original chicken recipe cat food. Ear Feathers has had an extensive dental surgery in which all but just a few of her teeth were removed. (This doesn't slow her eating down at all or cause her any problems, by the way!) She has DOUBLED in weight since we first took her in and is now a healthy weight. Ear Feathers is sure to attract lots of attention due to her beauty and quirky "ear feathers" but she really needs to go to a specific type of home that will be willing and able to care for her appropriately. It would be important to keep in mind that Ear Feathers had a rough past with her health and, although she is doing great now, it would be important to note that it is possible that she might need some more vet follow-up care--possibly more than your average cat. Additionally, Ear Feathers needs a CALM home with someone who is willing to invest time and patience into continuing to socialize her. An adopter who has experience with skittish cats would be ideal but not necessarily required. She IS a friendly girl but does need time to settle in and get used to her new life indoors. She enjoys having a closed-in area where she can decompress and get back scratches, which she LOVES!!! Hey there, my name is Lily and I am a three-year-old, long-haired white and orange female. I am a kitty with one funky personality who will love up on you and may sneak in a quick nibble! I just do it as a part of my very playful personality, but you better keep an eye on me! If you were to ask the staff about me the first thing that will come out of their mouths is that I am a diva, which I would have to agree with them on. When I am not the sassy queen like I ought to be, I’m usually enjoying a lovely cat nap where I am bundled into the blankets! Just a heads up that I am allergic to some flea medications so please ask the staff for more information on that!I get along with some cats, but I’m pretty picky with who I choose to hang out with. They just need to be as cool as me and match my energy. I would do great in a home with older children who would be able to gauge when I might decide to hit them with a sass-attack! My name is Simone, and I was originally brought to Stray Haven as a very scared stray. Since then, I was adopted by a family alongside Sebastian, but unfortunately, they weren't able to be my forever family. I am still very shy, and I really enjoy Sebastian's company because he helped give me confidence in the home we shared, however as long as there is another friendly kitty in the home I'm going to I'll do fine without him.
