It got matted, so it had to be shaved, but they tell me it's growing out nicely! I've been off the streets since January, but I was very unsure of all the shelter noise. Diet and/or medication is important in minimizing the excess minerals in the urinary tract which can lead to stone formation. Each cat may respond a little differently and therefore adjustments in dose or frequency are often necessary. It is essential that a veterinarian monitor the cat's response to treatment (both with physical exam and blood tests) to determine if the dose needs to be adjusted. Once the cat is regulated on a "maintenance dose", blood test rechecks should be done at regular 6 to 12 month intervals.It is important to remember that while most cats respond well to treatment, the condition is not being "cured".
