Babou is a classic cat's cat. We adopted her from an LA shelter 7 years ago and has lived in multiple states across the US since. She adapts to new settings well as she has seen many apartments. Babs is independent and curious; loves a good scratchin' on her own terms. She does best in a calm home and gets along well with other cats, but would recommend gradually introducing them. Babou doesn't care for cat treats but LOVES lunch meat or chicken; she prefers wet food but will eat dry. Sun bathing and playing with a retractable tape measurer are her favorite hobbies. We hope that whoever takes her home will love her in the ways she needs- she is a good companion and has a lot of affection and love to give. Her new person needs to want a cat that will perch nearby and observe, but not really participate; one that prefers a gentle touch and soft voice over one that carries; and one that will pretend she's brave to go outside but is a housecat by nature. I can be shy at times but usually I like to meet the people who come in to visit, I can get a little possessive of them and swat away any of the other cats so I can have all the attention. Otherwise I will lay around and get pet for a while then go and laydown in the sun. I am not an active boy but I make up for it in cuddles and lap time, when I'm excited to see someone I give pretty gentle love bites. I really want to be your next cat! I love cuddles, neck scratches, and laying around taking it easy. Being at the shelter is really hard, I can't be around people all the time. That is what I want, to be next to a person all the time. I also like to be brushed and told how handsome I am, I know I'm handsome but its nice being told. I was being taken care of by a really nice lady, but her other cats picked on me and she decided it would be best to find me a new home with the help of Safe Haven. I'm really shy and keep to myself. I like laying around, but also enjoy getting pet and brushed by visitors. At the shelter I share a room with other cats like me, we don't mind each other and get along really well, we just respect each other's boundaries. In my new home I will need time to adjust to a new place and people, and another cat with a laidback personality would probably be great. I have been know to get underfoot in my desire to keep pace with people at the shelter and almost trip them, I might not do well with people having balance issues. I came to Safe Haven in September of last year pregnant with my second litter. My kittens have all be adopted and now its just me. I am trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do now that I don't have to take care of my babies. I like to look out the window and watch bird videos, I recently moved to a new room that doesn't look out on the highway and I like it so much better...watching traffic is only so exciting. I am good in the car and I love belly rubs, head-neck scratches, brushing, and exploring. But I'm not too fond of being picked up and carried, I don't mind being on someone's lap and will help you send emails and use your computer when you're working. I love exploring, being at the shelter for as long as I have been I like to breakout of my routine and run to meet all the other cats I can. Usually we have fun saying "hi" and playing through the windows. When I meet people I like getting pets and I purr up a storm, but can settle down for lap time. When I am calm, I like to sit back and watch the world around me. But I when I do play I enjoy running around with other cats and wand toys are super fun!If you have a kitty at home now, I'd probably get I with them. I'm pretty easy going and get along with most of the cats I've met at the shelter...I never initiated the hostility, just received it. I have been on outings around Jo Daviess County as a Safe Haven representative, but I don't travel well...I get car sick. I am a quiet boy that likes to take it easy by laying in the window watching the world go by, sometimes when I get visitors I let them hold me and tell me how handsome I am, and of course getting brushed is the best! I like other cats too, I have shared a room with older male cats and male kittens...I like the adult males better, they're calm like me.
