Story
Meet Cider! Cider is the most loving PEOPLE person. He loves people so much that he doesn't even want other cats around! That's okay, though, because he will give you so much love and attention you won't even realize he's the only kitty in the house. Cider is definitely one of a kind. He snorts when he's grooming himself, and will get quite offended when you find it funny! But he'll forgive you by getting all up in your business and laying across your keyboard while you're working. Cider is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and FIV/FeLV negative. He does have a sensitive tummy, so he's on special food that helps him feel better. If Cider would be the perfect boy for your home, go to al-van.org/adopt to fill out an application. *Some pet-finding websites aside from our own are very slow to update after an animal is adopted, and this is outside of our control. Story
Uno came to us when her owner passed away, leaving this young kitty alone in her home. Our rescue's mission is to assist terminally ill people with finding new families for their pets so we quickly got her into a foster home. Uno was dealing with the death of her owner and had never left her original owner's house, she was pretty scared when she first arrived in her foster home. She had to get used the noise and movements of a regular household, and every day she gains more confidence in her world. She has been with us over a year now, and she adores her foster mom. She still gets scared of strangers and will hide when company comes over, but she loves her person. In all senses of the word, Uno is still a kitten. She is a small cat and still has kitten energy. She loves to play with toys - especially her feathered mice. She is quite talented and can catch a toy ball with her back paws and even jumps and catches it in the air like a dog. She loves to play at night, so we do hear her up and about playing with her toys. She does more playing than cuddling but settles in for an evening cuddle and cat nap with her favorite human. She also enjoys being in the same room as her humans, even if it is not in a lap. She is a super smart girl - and even once lined up all her cat toys in a perfectly straight line - we have photo proof! She is also adventurous and finds ways to climb the furniture and ends up in surprising places. Your house is her circus! Although she has never lived with dogs before, she peacefully coexists with two elderly chihuahuas. She had never encountered a dog prior to arriving in her foster home and at first, puffed up her fur and was very afraid. Gradually, she gained the courage to sniff them and pounce at them in play. They basically ignore her, which I think she appreciates. She has great litter box habits and thoroughly buries her potty. She is fixed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Although she isn't declawed, we put a scratching post next to the couch, and she uses the post diligently. If you are wondering why Uno hasn't been adopted from us in the year in our care, she does require daily Prozac which we hide in a treat. She is naturally an anxious cat and the Prozac takes the edge off so she can live more confidently and without anxiety. For those of you that struggle with anxiety, you know what I am saying. We see the daily medication, which is inexpensive on Chewy, as a way of improving her quality of life. Others may see it as a burden, preventing her adoption, but we know the right person is out there that will understand her. Questions? Story
Smokey is a super sweet, loving guy looking for an owner to give him a chance to show off his funny, sweet, loving personality. Our rescue's mission is to assist terminally ill people with finding new homes for their pets, and Smokey came to us after his beloved owner, who had him his whole life, passed away. His owner lovingly called Smokey "his rascal." He is such an affectionate guy. He keeps an eye on you as you move throughout the house, waiting for the moment when you settle on the couch to watch TV or read so he can settle as close to possible to your side. He likes to keep a paw on you at all times, even while he is sleeping, so expect a back leg to be setting on your leg while he is snoozing, just so he knows you are still there for him. He has a tiny meow - sometimes coming out silently or as a little kitten squeak. It's adorable! Although Smokey is 8 years old, he has plenty of energy and still plays like a kitten. He loves his squeaky mouse toy and is fascinated by shadows and light. He has nightly zoomies before he settles down. He enjoys sleeping next to your pillow at night, always wanting to be close to his person. He also loves a good virtual mouse hunt on a tablet or TV. Yes, he plays online games too! Smokey is 8 years old, has excellent litter box habits, is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and full bloodwork showed a healthy cat. Although he has lived with other cats, he likes to be the top cat in charge, and we think he would thrive as an only cat. He would also do well in a home with no dogs (or possibly larger dogs) because again, he prefers to the top of the animal kingdom in his home. The most ideal home for him would have no other pets competing with him for attention. If you are interested in Smokey, please email tysonsplacerescue@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application, available at tysonsplacerescue.org (click adopt and scroll down past the photos).

Story
When his owner was ill, Bandit loyally laid on his bed with him, keeping him company as his illness progressed. Once his owner passed away, Bandit was tossed outside as he was no longer wanted or needed. Thankfully, his foster mom heard of his situation, where he was actually sleeping in a box in the garage in the chilly temperatures. She took this loyal kitty into her house and contacted our rescue. Our mission is to assist terminally ill people with finding new families for their pets, including after the owner has passed away. Bandit is 5 years old, fixed, current on vaccinations, had full bloodwork, and microchipped. He is completely healthy and has excellent litterbox habits. He loves cat nip and his blue feather toy on a stick. Discovering new cat toys is something this curious guy is finally getting to do, as his ill owner was bedbound and unable to get him new toys. He has lived successfully with a large dog and other cats and may be able to do so in your home with proper introductions. He has met cats and a larger dog in his foster home and does well and is interested in playing with the other cats. Like many cats, he likes affection on his terms (really, who doesn't?) which means he comes to you for pets and cuddles when he is ready for them. He especially loves the top of his head scratched. His foster mom says he can sit in your lap for hours getting kisses on the top of his head. He would do best with a cat savvy owner who knows how to read cat body language and is ok with a cat that comes to them when he is ready for pets and affection. Simply put, Bandit is cat that acts just like cats do. If you have space in your heart and home for this friendly feline that loyally lived with his owner until his dying day, please contact us at tysonsplacerescue@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application available here: https://tysonsplacerescue.org/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt

Story
Lola a gorgeous, sleek 10-year-old black cat who is quick to greet a stranger with an affectionate hello. Lola, and her sister, Lucy, came into our rescue after their owner passed away, and they were left alone in the house. Our rescue's mission is to assist terminally ill people with finding new families for their pets, including after the owner has passed away. The original owner's family describes Lola as friendly with family, friendly with visitors, and affectionate. On the first day we met Lola, she came right up to us, purring and ready for pets. She purrs so much at her vet visits that they can't even hear her heartbeat as part of the exam. She is front-declawed and has excellent litter box habits. She is fixed, microchipped, vaccinated, and had full bloodwork. We think given the proper introduction time, she would do fine with other cats. If you are interested in Lola, applications are available here: https://tysonsplacerescue.org/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt or you can email tysonsplacerescue@gmail.com for questions or more information.
