Story
One SMART Kitty!Floyd was born about November 9, 2010 and weighs about 15 lbs.  This big kitty is a very smart boy and appeared here winter of 2017.  It seems he found the cat door in the front of the garage, wandered around in the garage long enough to find the cat door into the cellar where there is an endless supply of kitty food, fresh water and a rather consistent temperature of about 60 degrees.  So, winter of 2017 he terrorized the staff and the dogs that visit the cellar now and then to try to find 'treats' that the other rather feral cats, who live inside (cellar)/outside leave for them.  He was fine with the other cats, but the dogs weren't allowed to come up the steps after they got down!   No humans were allowed to touch him and if you reached for something in the shelves where he was lurking you'd get a good swat on your hand that goes 'THUD'!   Then summer came and he was gone.  The cellar was much more accessible to all of us, but we must admit we missed him a bit and hoped he was ok.  Then came winter of 2018 and the snow and cold hit early - Floyd was back!   He looked a little rough, but it didn't take long for him to regain his shiny fur and eyes.  And much to our surprise he was just a teensy bit friendlier and seemed to be taunting 'Cat Man Drew' by rubbing on his legs, yet swatting his hand if it came close.  OK...now is the time to neuter this boy!   'Cat Man Drew' grabbed him with some big gloves and into a crate he went!!!    Then off to see Dr. Rasey to get the deed done!  He recovered a few days in a crate and then was cautiously set free in the cellar looking rather indignant!  Perhaps he's mellowed a bit and we don't know if he'll be leaving again this summer, but if he does he may find his summer activities dampened just a bit if you know what I mean.    : )   We understand it is unlikely anyone will want to adopt Floyd, but we thought it was fun to tell his story and hope you enjoyed reading about him.  We've deemed Floyd a sanctuary pet and he is considered 'un-adoptable'. Joyful Rescues remains committed to our Sanctuary Dogs and Cats. They will stay with us for their natural lives and we will care for and love them. We will be their forever family. We wish we could do it alone but we need your help. We are looking for people who can help us with Floyds care. Please click the link below and donate. Story
Sadly, I Was Not Socialized. William was born about June 1, 2018 and is a healthy, happy, cat that is wonderful with the other cats and the visiting dogs.  Sadly, he is very fearful of humans as he was not socialized as a baby.  Joyful Rescues is looking for a home for this kitty that someone will be very, very, patient and/or let him be himself.  He would never attack anyone, but would just run away.  We would also be willing to let him go to an inside/outside or decent barn 'home'.  It would be nice if there was another kitty to pal with as he's always been with others.  All medical care has been done and there will be no adoption fee.  It is very sad, but way too many humans turned kittens into us that they said were friendly that were not and now we are unable, at this time, to take more cats in.  We could sure use your help to place our now sanctuary cats that live at the main location in the basement/garage/outside.  They are good about using the litter box.  Thank you.   Prior to being released as a sanctuary cat he was neutered, vaccinated, wormed, and tested negative for FIV/FELV.  He is given flea control throughout the summers. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A CAT FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption. We are SOOOO lucky!Igor was born around May 23, 2018  Igor came to us as a feral teen kitten who was passed the point where he could easily become friendly.  For this reason Igor lives as an outdoor/indoor garage and heated basement kitty at the main location of Joyful Rescues. He is one of several sanctuary kitties here that live the best life possible for them.  We cannot touch him, but as you can see he is well fed.  lol!  Our sanctuary kitties are welcome to live here the remainder of their lives unless a suitable home or decent barn environment becomes interested in them.   The ADOPTION FEE for Igor is $25.00 We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    All kittens/cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, wormed, treated for fleas and tested negative for FIV/FELV. Story
CUTE!The Kitten Krew was born around April 11, 2021.   Here is a note from her foster mom Renee after only 4 days:   'Today was the first day that she came to me for attention instead of the other way around. It immediately started rolling on her back and giving me her belly which she gladly let me pet. I was starting to introducing my other cats to her this week and hopefully within a few days she will be totally assimilated into gen pop!      She's a sweetie!  She's good about the litter box and good about using the scratching posts. It's a shame that the black cats linger for so long. . .'   A cat can live 12-18+ years if cared for properly. Be sure you are able to care for it for its lifetime. The ADOPTION FEE for this feline is: $100.00 We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.  All kittens/cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, wormed, treated for fleas and tested negative for FIV/FELV. So I have few extra pounds on me...Franny was born around January 3, 2018 and is a normal-sized kitty but with a few extra pounds on her.  Franny has always been well-loved and cared for.  Sadly her human needed to leave her home due to domestic violence but she managed to get all the cats out when she left. Franny is incredibly social, loves the other kitties and all of us.  She is very affectionate and will roll around asking for attention because she just knows how cute she is! Franny and the rest of the New Year kitties are all very sweet, happy, cats that everyone is going to adore!  A cat can live 12-18+ years if cared for properly. Story
I'm so loveable!Hobbs was born around January 19, 2015 and is on the larger side.   Hobbs has always been well-loved and cared for.  Sadly, his human needed to leave her home due to domestic violence but she managed to get all the cats out too when she left. Hobbs is incredibly social and loves other kitties and fine with dogs.  At one time the New Year kitties likely had ear mites that turned into ear infections that went untreated and due to all the clawing/itching of the ear pinna a hematoma developed and healed on its own which caused the ear pinna to become disfigured.  There is nothing that can be done about it at this late time so Hobbs has a distinct look - we think he is adorable!   Hobbs and the rest of the New Year kitties are all very sweet, happy, cats that everyone is going to adore!   From his foster mom:  Hobbs New Year is the perfect blend of a cat and a kitten! At 8 years old, he thinks and acts like an 8-MONTH -old! He runs around his foster home trying to get all the other cats to play with him, and if that isn't happening, then well, he will just play with every toy in sight. Then plops down on Foster mom's lap for some cuddling and loud purring and rebooting to go and do it all over again! A cat can live 12-18+ years if cared for properly.
