Ricky was part of a cat colony in Gananoque when he was trapped and brought to GDHS for care during the summer. He lived outside all his life and was fed by members of the community.Ricky was feral when he arrived, which means he did not trust humans very much. Volunteers and staff helped Ricky with his socialization skills. It has been a long process but Ricky is finally ready for adoption!Ricky is very food motivated and loves being scratched on top of his head, base of his tail and his sides. When he is happy, he makes cute little "grunting"sounds. Ricky is still cautious of new people and new things and would do best in a quiet home with a predictable routine. Ricky does well with other cats but he is FIV+. Ricky has bonded closely with Kevin who is also FIV+, and we believe that the two would excel being adopted as a pair.Both Kevin and Ricky are FIV+. FIV is Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Owners of FIV+ cats should be aware that this Virus is only transmittable between cats through deep bite wounds and cannot be transmitted through friendly contact.
