When she arrived, she was heartbreakingly shut down—her fur painfully matted, covered in debris, and too scared to even lift her head. She curled into the smallest ball she could make, hoping the world would simply leave her alone. She wouldn’t come forward to greet anyone; she had lost trust, and she had lost hope. At just 30 lbs, she’s still gaining weight after refusing to eat in the shelter from fear and confusion. But despite everything she’s endured, Butterscotch is quietly, bravely learning to live again. In her foster home, she’s slowly opening up. She has discovered that gentle hands are safe, soft voices are comforting, and she now allows volunteers to pet her with a sweetness that melts your heart. She is still early in her journey—learning what love feels like, learning how to walk on a leash, learning that she matters. Butterscotch lights up around other dogs. Their presence brings her comfort, confidence, and a sense of belonging. At 11–12 years old and just under 15 pounds, this resilient senior is officially in his "glow-up" era and looking for a forever home to celebrate his new lease on life. While the physical burden is gone, Gimpy’s recovery is a journey. Because he spent so long compensating for that growth, he hasn’t quite realized he can use that leg fully yet. He is looking for a patient home that understands that it will take some time for him to start using that leg, he's gone so long without using it. Aside from his physical therapy journey, Gimpy is the same charming gentleman we fell in love with. He is a pro lounger who has mastered the art of the afternoon nap, but he is also an explorer at heart; despite limited sight and hearing, his nose works overtime to sniff out new adventures. He is a social butterly who coexists peacefully with other dogs and would likely be just fine with feline friends. He is also house-trained and acts like a total pro as long as you keep a simple routine of going outside after naps and meals. Most importantly, he is low maintenance—no marathons or hiking required here, just a quick "business trip" outside and some quality couch time. Gimpy needs a quiet, loving environment where he can continue his rehabilitation. If you have a soft spot for seniors and the patience to help him rediscover his strength, he has a heart full of gratitude waiting for you. Dodger came from a dark past as he was born in Mexico, and is the only surviving pup of his litter after his mom rejected all the puppies after she birthed them.  We are so thankful  to our friends at Crossing Guardians for rescuing him because Dodger is the happiest, most affectionate boy. He’s dog-friendly and cat-friendly too!  Dodger would thrive best in a calm environment as his temperament is more suited to a quieter setting.
