Story
Meet Hoppy — our sweet, easygoing little velcro boy 💕Hoppy is the kind of pup who just wants to be wherever you are. Whether you're working at your desk, relaxing on the couch, or heading out for a quick walk, Hoppy will be right by your side — happily snoozing at your feet or shadowing you from room to room. This well-mannered gentleman is:✨ Fully potty trained✨ Extremely well-behaved✨ Quiet (he rarely barks!)✨ Content with short strolls + long napsHe’s perfectly happy lounging around the house and loves settling in while his foster parents work from home. Hoppy mostly ignores the other dogs in his foster home and has shown little interest in cats when passing them on walks. While he was a bit unsure around small kids at first, once properly introduced, he quickly warmed up — even enjoying a sleepover with his foster mom’s niece and nephew! He can sleep quietly in his crate or cuddle up in bed with you… whatever keeps him closest to his person 💞Hoppy would thrive in a home where he can spend lots of time with his favorite human. He’d be perfectly happy as an only dog, but he also does well with other calm, respectful pups (and likely cats!).Hoppy does take daily medication for his heart, and he’s also working on his weight due to a low thyroid — but he’s a total pro and takes his meds easily in a treat. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will love you endlessly and become your shadow within 48 hours… Hoppy is your guy 🐾To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.

Story
Uncle Lewis is about 2 years old and 17 lbs! Lewis is a quiet, thoughtful soul who’s spent most of his life fending for himself. Because of that, he’s learned to rely on independence instead of people—and the idea of love and safety is still new to him. But underneath that cautious exterior is a tender heart just waiting for the right person to show him the world isn’t so scary.Lewis feels safest in the company of calm dogs and in the comfort of his kennel, where he can decompress and observe life at his own pace. He has an avoidant attachment style and needs time, patience, and gentle consistency to learn that humans can be kind. Loud voices, sudden movements, or physical corrections would shut him down completely—he needs a home rooted in softness and respect. He’s also a clever little escape artist, always thinking five steps ahead, so his future family will need secure fencing and a watchful eye. Ideally, Lewis would thrive in a home with at least one calm, confident dog to help show him the ropes. Fast, unpredictable things—like a child on a scooter—can overwhelm him, so a quiet, adult-only household would be best. At this time, we’re unsure how he feels about men or cats.Lewis isn’t a “plug-and-play” dog—he’s a healing heart looking for a patient guide. But for the person willing to meet him where he is, the reward will be watching a once-fearful pup slowly bloom into a dog who finally knows what it means to feel safe.Could you be the gentle home Uncle Lewis has been waiting for?To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.
