Rico is available through our `Adopt From a Foster Home` program. If you are interested in scheduling a meeting, please fill out the request form here: Adopt From Foster Form. Please do not make an appointment through our online booking calendar, as he is not available to meet on site.Age: 3 yearsWeight: 43.20 kgA little bit about Rico:- unknown history with kids, all interactions should be supervised- no history with cats and small animals, all interactions should be supervised- has had positive interactions with other calm, confident dogsRico may be a large boy, but this gentle giant is a lap dog at heart! This gorgeous guy was surrendered to us for no fault of his own and is waiting for his forever home in the comfort of a foster home. In the shelter he was quite shut down, overwhelmed by the unfamiliar sounds, spaces and people. But in his foster home he has truly blossomed - his foster describes him as “genuinely the sweetest dog,” and it doesn’t take long to see why!Once he warms up (usually within a day), Rico bonds deeply and loves to stay close to his people. He can be a little shy at first, but he’s never shown any signs of aggression, and he settled beautifully even when staying with new people in a new home. He would thrive with someone who can offer companionship and plenty of cozy moments, as he’s happiest curled up nearby and nudging gently for more pets.Rico has had nothing but positive interactions with other dogs and could enjoy a canine friend in his forever home. We would be happy to facilitate a dog introduction here at the shelter to ensure a good match! Rico, to our knowledge, has never been around cats before, so we would strongly recommend slow, supervised introductions. He also loves his walks, especially when there are squirrels to watch. He may pull at the start of an exciting adventure, but he quickly relaxes into a nice rhythm. If your bed, home and heart are all feeling a little empty, Rico`s got more than enough love, fluff and, well, Rico, to fill those spaces! Fill out the Adopt from Foster form above if you think he may be just the pup you`ve been looking for.

**Dougie is a Patient Paw, please ask about his reduced adoption fee!**Age: 6 yearsWeight: 43.7 kgA bit about Dougie:- unknown history with kids; all interactions should be supervised- unknown history with cats; slow, supervised introductions over multiple sessions recommended- unknown history with dogs; okay pending successful introductionWe`re not saying we won`t miss him... but we think it`s high time somebody comes and adopts this sweet guy! Meet our resident superstar Dougie! Whether we need someone to look handsome at an event (and not bark through the speeches), a cute pup who`ll be polite with kids, or a polite walker to send out with a new volunteer, we always turn to Dougie! This handsome gent was found as a stray along the highway, and he`s been brightening up the days of shelter staff since September! Dougie loves pets (more bum scritches PLEASE) and will sure to let you know if you forget to pet him! Squeaky toys are also a favourite and he`s always happy to show off his squeaky toys to new friends who come to meet him! Dougie may be middle aged, but he`s still a healthy and active pup up for all the adventures you want to take him on. Older dogs like Dougie can be a great choice to adopt because they are generally calmer with some training on board, making them a perfect fit for newer dog owners! As far as the shelter team is concerned, it`s a mystery why someone this cute is still looking for a new home - we think Dougie is just about perfect! Swing by the shelter and get some puppy cuddles from this darling guy today!
