Story
When we first got Jude, he was shockingly underweight. We placed him in a foster home to give him a chance to recuperate and gain weight away from the shelter environment. While he thrived there initially, he did have to come back to the shelter to address some underlying health concerns. Likely due the severity and length of time he suffered starvation, his bloodwork showed that he was in the early stages of kidney failure. While he no longer seems to exhibit symptoms after being on medication, the shelter environment makes it hard to be sure. This is why we are equally as happy to consider a temporary foster, a foster to adopt, or an adoptive home for Jude. To know more about the medical side of things or about any of the options we have available to place this dog, please call the shelter at (417) 591-2512 or email us at adopt.ffaa@gmail.com to discuss details. Jude has successfully lived in a foster home with another dog. He is extremely social with humans and has your typical shepherd personality. He is interested in toys, is very goofy and expressive, loves to lay across your lap, and is just a big ham. He potty trained fairly rapidly and well in his foster home, and we expect any family that takes him on next to find polishing his housetraining no big deal. Despite his initial malnutritioned state, he suprised us by taking treats incredibly gently, a testament to the sweet nature that he easily reveals. This overgrown puppy has a heart of gold and an adorable face - all he needs is a family to appreciate it.

Story
Fully grown at just 44 lbs, Juno is your typical shepherd type mix. She is a confident, sunny, joyous player who is beyond social and silly. Dog and kid friendly with the softest coat and wiggliest body, Juno would make those who enjoy shepherd traits a fantastic companion or sport dog prospect. Surrendered at FFAA by an owner who had lost housing and was caring for many other animals, Juno's previous home wanted something better for. Her previous owner, despite being in a tight situation, made sure to care for Juno - giving her excellent dog food, making sure she was fully vetted, and trying their best to meet all her needs. Juno was described as a talkative, playful, and friendly dog who loves new humans without discrimination as well as any doggy friends she meets along the way. Her paperwork indicates that she is crate-trained and housebroken, and we have found all of this information to be true! She LOVES to yap and and is easily convinced to carry on a conversation with you, head tilting and eyes bright. She's doing great in her doggy playgroups, and each time she meets someone new, they're instantly her best friend.Juno is a very high energy dog. If there's one thing she loves more than attention, it is PLAY! She likes balls, bones rope toys, stuffed animals, crinkly toys, and bite pillows. She likes fetch, flirt poles, and tug. She likes bones. She likes to chase pounce, and wrestle. Basically, we have yet to discover a toy or style of play that Juno is not interested in! Movement is very important to shepherd-type dogs, and Juno is no different. She is highly food motivated as well, and she is clearly a bright dog who would love the opportunity to learn lots of commands. As office dog, Juno excels. She entertains herself with toys yet is very happy to come get attention from people, and she refrains from counter surfing or destructive behavior. When you talk to her or ask her to sit, her fluffy tail whooshes from side to side. Juno's ideal home would be one where playing with, engaging, and fulfilling dogs is a lifestyle instead of a chore. Other than that, this girl is flexible and could fit in many households.
