Story
Meet River, a loving one-year-old who is ready to find his new home! He’s a friendly and affectionate boy who absolutely loves being around people and getting attention. River is always eager for a little affection and will happily spend time by your side. He walks well on a leash and enjoys the outdoors at a comfortable pace, making him a great walking companion. River has a medium energy level, so he’s happy to go for a stroll or relax with you after some playtime. River knows how to "sit" on command and takes treats gently, showing that he’s treat-motivated and ready to learn. His affectionate nature and willingness to please make him an easy dog to bond with. If you’re looking for a loving and playful companion who enjoys attention, walks, and spending time with you, River might just be the perfect match. He’s ready to bring joy and companionship into your life! As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

These pups are in Greensboro, North Carolina too!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ENZO ~2 years old. Good with some dogs, but best as an only dog . Not good with kids or cats.  GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.        Enzo is patiently waiting for the perfect family to find him. He’s a tall stunning boy who LOVES going for a ride in the car, seriously – this guy cannot walk past a car without letting you know he wants to get in. Enzo is currently a lean 85lbs and needs a family committed to keeping him at a healthy weight. Enzo didn’t inherit the best genes, likely due to a backyard breeder whose only interest was making money. Due to this, Enzo will need hip surgery within the next 1-2 years. The rescue will cover the cost of surgery at one of their vets, so his adopter doesn’t have to worry about that, but they will need to care for him during the recovery period. Enzo would do best as an only dog, he loves attention and going for a walk. He is low to medium energy, has no problems with stairs. He is still somewhat mouthy and will not be placed in a home with children younger than teenagers. Enzo is house trained and doesn’t need to be crated. After a walk, his favorite past time is lounging on the couch. He’s friendly but not overly pushy looking for affection. Enzo is a goofy boy that just puts a smile on your face being around him. We understand that his upcoming health needs will deter some adopters, but we are hopeful someone will give this boy a chance, he deserves his own forever family. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.STEVE ~3 years old. TBD if good with dogs, kids and cats. GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.   This sweet boy is overflowing with so much love and enthusiasm for people. His motto is if life gives you lemons, let's make lemonade and friends! If you ever felt down, he would definitely lift your spirits. He has a great head tilt so you know that he is listening to you. This boy loves hard though, so it’s better that there were no small kids in the house but it’s only because he would bowl them over and smother them with kisses before you could get him off them! He would be ok with older considerate kids. Steve loves going for walks and exploring new things. He is up for any adventures you want to take him on. He does great riding in the car and is well behaved when riding. Steve has visited several big box stores and really enjoyed perusing the aisles and meeting new people. He is very polite meeting and greeting when we are in public. Steve is very excited to meet doggie friends. He is a bit socially awkward and is still learning how to read the cues when the other dogs have had enough. He is definitely improving in this department. We are working on how to "play it cool" when meeting other dogs. He is a work in progress and just needs someone to help show him the way. Just look at his videos! He does well on the leash but will need someone who will continue working with him on training. He is very food motivated so that is always a bonus. Steve was picked up as a stray. He was half starved and weigh about 35 lbs. He had also been hit by a car and the shelter took him to the vet. Steve was at the shelter for a while and they did a wonderful job helping him gain weight and getting use to being handled. Steve would love a family that is ready to be showered with love because he has plenty to give. He would love a fenced yard so he could run and play. He would love a playful companion that could help him learn the ropes. Steve has also discovered squeaky balls and absolutely loves them! He does kill the squeaker in the ball so you may need to set up a ball fund. Steve will carry one ball in his mouth while chasing another and has managed to carry 2 balls at a time. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LUNA ~10 months old. Good with larger dogs. Not good with kids and cats. Needs a companion animal and fenced yard GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only. Greetings world, My name is Luna. I am a happy and energetic young girl of about seven months old. I am looking for a family of my very own. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and see if you think we might be a match. I am a petite girl. My foster mom thinks that I am a mix. Most likely I am a German Shepherd/border collie mix. I have a beautiful gray face with fluffy ears, I have wavy blonde, and brown fur on my body. I am currently 37 pounds and will probably be about 50 pounds when I finish maturing. So a perfect size for someone wanting a more compact companion! My foster mom says that I am super super smart! I think that’s a compliment! I am a very intense dog, and I bond very quickly with my person. I am very fast, very athletic, and very focused. Foster mom says I need a job! When we are out in the yard, I will run around and then I will run up and either do a leap by my foster mom, or I will come to a sliding stop and just look at her for direction. I am extremely food, motivated, and will sell my soul or do any trick you want to try to teach me for some treats. I take treats gently , which is a good thing. I love to play ball and I love to just engage with my foster mom. I will sit on command and stare intently waiting for further direction. I also know how to give the paw! I sometimes utilize this skill to try to encourage my foster mom to give me an extra treat from her a little snack bag that she carries around. I have several furry foster siblings that I get to interact with and play with. I love a good game of chase (I am super fast and I can dodge and weave with the best, and I can also utilize my leapfrog skills. If someone trips in front of me, I just go vertical and hurdle right over them). I’m also up for the little rough and tumble play as a few of my housemates like to play tag/tackle as well. It’s all good. I am perfectly happy with that. I’m actually a fairly submissive player. I do have consider a prey drive, so I will need a home with a dog at least my size or bigger. No small dogs. No felines. (Foster mom is unsure on fish… they move around quickly. They might also get my attention. ). I also need a home without chickens. There are currently chickens at my foster home, and I am trying my best to parkour off the fence to see if I can get it to give. I would love a home with an individual or a couple that would like to work with me on agility, or some other sport, where I could demonstrate my superior skill sets. I am so eager to learn, and I am so athletic. What do you expect when you have a working line dog/herding dog combination? I would also love someone who just wants to run! I have tons of energy and I would love to be a jogging partner! My foster mom says that I need to go to a home without children under the age of 15. I am a super excited dog and I get a little nippy. It’s just an energy outlet, but my foster mom says that it’s not a good combination to have around young children. Well, I’ve tried to describe a lot of my personality traits, and hopefully I have peaked your interest if you’re looking for a fun, loving, devoted friend. Please come and meet me soon. Best wishes, Luna Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.For more information on our adoptable pet list please visit: Adoptable Pet List Please join us at our next Event(s): Current Scheduled Events:         November 4, 2024, 6:19 pm
