Story
Heidi is a 4 and 1/2 year old Dutch Shepherd who was found in Gaston County as a stray. She is the most loveable sweetheart who loves to hug and snuggle (almost more than she likes her food bowl!) She loves to explore yet her recall is very good! She wants nothing more than a loving home, preferably with an adopter with some GSD experience and a commitment to ongoing training. She loves her toys and will carry them out of her crate and hide them in the yard She likes nothing more than laying in the sun chewing a bone, though like most dogs she does get the zoomies occasionally. For a small 50 lb dog she can really move! She has a high prey drive so no cats or small pets. Please help Heidi find her loving home!

Story
Heartworm PositiveI am heartworm positive…but you can still love me! My adoption fee is $250 which covers my annual distemper booster, rabies, and being spayed/neutered and microchipped. The rescue will pay for the injections for HW treatment at Shoreline Vet. in Jacksonville. My adopter would be responsible for the take home meds which average about $200, depending on size, over the 4-month span of treatment. Please do your research on my breed before applying for me! I need to go to a home with experienced owners, I will not make a good first dog. I am ABSOLUTELY NOT cat or chicken friendly and probably won’t do well with little dogs either but I love playing with medium size dogs in my foster home. A meet and greet with the other dogs in the home is recommend before adoption because I have so much energy.  I would do best in a home without infants or toddlers as my energy will be too much for them. I would make the BEST running or hiking Buddy after my heartworm treatment.  Like a normal Dutch Shepard, I am extremely high energy and incredibly smart. I know sit, lay, touch, wait and kennel and I’m learning new tricks every day!  I’m also working on leash manners and doing very well. I need someone who will keep working on training with me and other types of mental stimulation as I absolutely need this to keep me sane. I am a crazy boy who loves to play ALLLLL day long but after a long day of playing, I love to cuddle up with my foster mom. I’m very affectionate and like to give hugs!  I may be a mini horse but that doesn’t stop me from trying to be a lap dog!May 17, 2024, 2:36 pm
