Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.AZTEC was from the Northern community of Grassy Narrows and he came south to find his forever family. He’s received his two vaccines including a rabies shot, a microchip and his vet has deemed him a healthy boy. The size he’ll grow to be is just an educated guess as we have no info on either of his parents. He’s more than likely a mixed breed but what he could be mixed is just a guess based on his looks. He’s a big energetic boy who’s just starting to play with a an assortment of toys and figuring out what fun they are. He’s very good natured and enjoys being around people and he follows his foster around the house.  AZTEC is just starting to get used to his crate as we feel he was never crated before. He is house trained and will let you know when he has to go outside for a bathroom break. He’s just started to go on leash walks and he gets pretty excited when he knows he’s going outside for  one. He does wear a front facing harness as he’s a strong boy and his foster feels that works best for him. He has good manners and will “sit” for  his meals and knows “wait” plus “gentle” for his treats. He hasn’t lived with children so we are saying if there’s any in the home they should be age 10 years plus due to him being a big excitable boy and he could easily knock them down. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can run around and play safely.  AZTEC’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on big hikes and walks so he can get the exercise he needs to burn off his puppy energy. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. He’ll do well in a home with another dog as he’s met several and played really well with them. He’s not met a cat but if there’s one in the home they should be dog savvy and we highly recommend that when they meet he’s kept on a leash for the first few introductions. He would do well as an only pet in the home provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time.  Young dogs are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to take him for obedience training to help him to become the best adult boy possible. If AZTEC sounds like he’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him. We will also consider foster-to-adopt for him to the right home.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 4, 2026, 2:55 pm

Story
Jack has won the hearts of our staff with his loving, warm personality. He greets us with affectionate hugs every time we enter his room, making him an absolute favorite! Jack is a laid-back guy who enjoys attention but also appreciates having his personal space when needed. He proudly shows off his new tricks and loves to strut his stuff on walks. Jack would make an excellent sidekick for car rides and adventures, always ready for a new experience by your side. Jack requires a calm, adult-only home with no other dogs or cats, as he can be reactive and aggressive towards other animals. While he is loving, he may become uncomfortable if someone invades his space when he is feeling uneasy, and this could lead to a defensive reaction. For this reason, Jack will thrive in an environment where he can have the space and time he needs to relax and feel secure. Jack is highly food motivated and has been clicker-trained, making walks a smooth and enjoyable experience. Jack has been diagnosed with a slowly progressive mobility issue as well as arthritis, he takes daily medication to manage both conditions and attends weekly rehabilitation sessions to help build strength and maintain mobility. To keep him comfortable and prevent muscle soreness, Jack should ideally live in a single-level home, where he doesn’t need to navigate stairs.

Story
Fossa is a sweet, senior gentleman whose life took an unexpected turn when his owner lost their home. Now, he's on the lookout for a loving family who can offer the stability and comfort he truly deserves. At first, Fossa can be a little anxious with new changes, but once he's settled into a routine, he becomes the most loyal and affectionate companion you could ask for. He's currently taking daily medication for anxiety, but we're optimistic that with a steady, calm environment, he can eventually be weaned off the medication. One of Fossa's most endearing qualities is his love for stuffed animals. He often carries them on walks, gently holding them in his mouth like treasured friends. His charming personality makes him an ideal match for families with children, as he's sure to bring joy and warmth into any home. Fossa would thrive in a household with a family who is committed to continuing his training and helping him build confidence. He's looking for a patient family who understands the unique needs of a senior dog. Though he's working on leash manners and managing some dog reactivity, Fossa is eager to learn and show just how wonderful he can be. Though Fossa has developed some arthritis, he's on both oral medication and supplements to help him stay comfortable and keep moving smoothly. You'd never guess he's a senior dog – he still has plenty of pep in his step! Fossa is not just looking for a place to stay – he wants a home where he can be loved, a soft bed to call his own, and a chance to spend his golden years surrounded by care and affection. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion to complete your family, Fossa just might be the perfect match.

Story
Diesel was surrendered by his previous owners due to the ongoing medical care he requires. He lives with Idiopathic Epilepsy, which necessitates daily medication to manage his seizures. Additionally, Diesel has been diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI), a condition that affects his ability to properly digest food. To keep him healthy, he needs a daily supplement and a special gastrointestinal diet to maintain his weight and prevent digestive issues. Despite his medical needs, Diesel has been flourishing in his foster home for the past few months. His foster family reports that he has impeccable house manners and has made great strides in overcoming his separation anxiety—he now rarely whines when they leave the house. Diesel has a zest for life and loves running around outside and playing fetch. After an active day, he enjoys cuddling up and lying beside you for hours. He has integrated well with the family’s dog and cat, showing no signs of food or bed guarding. Occasionally, Diesel can be reactive to other dogs during walks, but this typically happens only if the other dog engages first. He may take some time to warm up to men and can find car rides a bit stressful, though he is improving with each journey. Diesel's affectionate nature and spirited personality make him a wonderful companion for someone ready to provide him with the care and love he deserves.
