Story
Surf is an absolute delight! I've had her since she was about 10 weeks old, and she's now 2! She loves to cuddle up with you in bed (but only when she's done playing), will follow you all over the house, and will watch TV with you when she gets bored (she never gets bored). Surf is a high energy dog and will need lots of space to play and preferably a doggy companion. She's great with other dogs; she's never met a dog she doesn't instantly love. She especially LOVES big dogs and they seem to love her. Surf really is just a sweetheart. She is reactive to other dogs and rats, but nothing beyond lost attention and maybe a little leash pulling. I unfortunately have to move abroad to a country where Surf wouldn't be very safe so I have the unfortunate task of finding her a new forever home. If you'd like to get to know this adorable little pup, let me know!

Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.is he going to be your light in the night? FIREFLY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME WITH A WELCOMING RESIDENT DOG AND NO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12!!!! Name:   Firefly       Best Guess for Breed:   Feist mix    Best Guess for Age:  4 years as of February 2023       SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  15 lbs   Gets Along With:   Firefly does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. He hasn't been seen with cats but can be tested. Because he is shy, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12.    Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up here!   Special adoption considerations:  Firefly is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.  Firefly had an old injury to his right rear leg. In April he underwent surgery to ease his pain and increase his mobility. Additionally, Firefly is shy and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog to show him the ropes. Because of his shy personality, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12.   Firefly is Looking For:  His forever family! He hasn't had the easiest time of it lately but has firmly closed the book on that chapter. He's eager to have extra patient and loving adopters who will help show him a great new life at his pace and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog. His ultimate goal is to trot through the world with all the confidence of a well-loved dog; his top priority is to know he's under his own roof, safe and loved, every time the sun goes down. In exchange he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship and all the love he's saving up in the shelter.  What do you say? Will you be the one to give Firefly the soft landing he so much deserves?   What My Foster Says About Me:    We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
