Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP,Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/genericYou can learn about the adoption process by visiting:  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.  Dog's Name:  Peter (PET0224DICMD)Estimated Breed:  Feist MixApproximate Age:  6 Months Approximate Weight:  25 LBS    Currently Living at:  Boarding   Adoption Fee:  $500DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Hi there, I'm Peter! I arrived as a stray to an overcrowded high kill shelter in rural Virginia along with my buddies, Paul and Mary. Fortunately, we have been rescued and I am now awaiting my forever home. Could that be with you? I'm a bit shy at first but once I warm up, I am your typical friendly pup full of love and playfulness. As you can probably see from my first picture, my right eye was a little messed up. I suffered from entropion, a condition where my eyelid folds inward, causing continuous irritation and damage to my eye. Sadly, this condition had already led to blindness in one eye, and the only solution was to have it removed. The surgery went well, and I am a very healthy and happy puppy otherwise. I won't let being one-eyed get me down! I love being around people, wagging my tail to show how happy I am to see them, and I'm not just friendly with humans - I also get along great with other dogs. Adopting me means gaining a loyal, fun-loving friend who will always be there to brighten your day. If you're looking for a best buddy who will bring endless joy and companionship into your life, then look no further because I'm your guy! At my young age, I am in my prime for training and socialization. I would love to find a family or person to call my own. Please remember that young puppies require a lot of time, love, and patience to become the best doggie citizens they can be. Could you be the home of my dreams? Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Donations help us offset boarding costs and additional medical treatment for those dogs who need it.  K-9 Lifesavers receives NO federal funding and survive with your generous support! For more information on K-9 Lifesavers, or to view a complete listing of all our Adoptable Dogs, visit our website at https://k-9lifesavers.org/adopt. Please “like” our  Facebook Page  for the most current events and new dogs.Thank you for considering a rescue dog! ##1983324##

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Pretty Gabbi is 6-1/2yo, weighs 25lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, but is not microchipped.  Through no fault of her own, as she's a great dog, her guardian has made the difficult decision to rehome her.  "Gabbi knows sit and for some reason she understands 'you can come' when I'm leaving the house.  She LOVES riding in the car and is very disappointed when she can't come.  Gabbi is so loving.  She loves to cuddle.  Her spot is right next to me on the bed.  She loves giving kisses. And, she will howl now and then when she's excited.  It's so cute !!!!   For a 6-7yo dog, she seems very young and energetic.  She could use a little more training.  I have to train her alone because she can't focus with the other dogs around." Gabbi's guardian states why she's made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "I have six dogs plus my daughter's chihuahua - so a total of seven.  My health isn't the best, and I'm finding seven dogs to be too much energy in the house - even though they are like therapy pets and I enjoy them tremendously." Gabbi's guardian states the following regarding children:  Gabbi has been around children, ages 0-16, in her previous home, so her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "Gabbi has not been around children since I got her in August, but her previous owner (who I'm still in touch with) says Gabbi has been around many children from newborn to age 16 and she was great with them.  The previous owner says that if the children pulled her tail or got too rough with her, Gabbi would just run away." Gabbi's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Gabbi lives with 6 other dogs, so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "Gabbi does great with all of our dogs.  She can be a little bossy with them, but she gets along great with them." Gabbi's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Gabbi lives with a cat, but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "Gabbi loves to chase and bark at our cat, but she has never hurt the cat." Gabbi's guardian describes her as: Very active Couch potato Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Gabbi's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "She would love to be in a family who will give a lot of love and affection.  She would probably do better without cats and probably fewer dogs than I have." Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Mechanicsville, MD ***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. If you are interested in ADOPTING me, please CLICK HERE:  ADOPT ME 2. When your application is received, a Placement Manager will do a basic screening. Applications will be forwarded to the owner for further screening and continuation in the adoption process.  3.
